Maybe you should actually read some of the books ex-cia and military types write about their careers. Maybe then you'll stop being a right wing tool, or more likely you'll justify all the evil done in our countries name to your self some more.
We do not do nice things in the world. We do not wear white hats. We are not the bright shiny beacon we think ourselves to be. We've killed as many people as the Nazi's we've just done it over a longer time period. - reyalp, on 12/18/2008, -7/+39Sanjay's just polishing the brass on the Titanic, it's all going down baby.

I'm FAR more conservative than you could ever be, I'm just not NEOconservative. - BenBenMan, on 12/18/2008, -4/+28It could be worse ... it could be over 9000...
- Winkleman, on 12/17/2008, -10/+33The US has been on the slippery slope of bankruptcy for many years now, some will blame it on Bush, others will blame it on Clinton.... in the end, it doesn't really matter, just as long as China keeps sending us money.

- Lazydriver, on 12/18/2008, -5/+26Is it just me or is Digg becoming more retarded on a Daily basis because the lot of you are sheeps who can't really weigh both opinions, but just take whatever some guy said on here or one of your heroes, and then rather then evaluating the statement, you immediately go for the more popular opinion.
Not really related, just my two cents. - tsopranos, on 12/18/2008, -1/+19Article today on Yahoo News...
"China says lending to US will not go on forever"
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20081217/bs_afp/financ ... - Observant1, on 12/17/2008, -12/+29the US cant afford to fund a police state at home with about everyone unemployed either, about time DC wakes up to the fact THEY CUT OFF THEIR NOSE TO SPITE THEIR FACE
when they granted corporate welfare to take the technology and production overseas. look at New York wanting to tax the piss out of the unemployed people, tax on soda unless its poisoned with aspartame is only one part of it. - Murdats, on 12/18/2008, -0/+17apparently it works for american businesses
- sunburner, on 12/18/2008, -4/+21Of course we can fund it. We have machines that print all the money we need.

- Anonymerican, on 12/18/2008, -0/+16Replace the word digg with, well, people.

Let that sink in for a second...It will. - elliotys, on 12/18/2008, -6/+21The average american consumer has over 8,000$ in CREDIT CARD debt. ***** pathetic.
- Jlaugh, on 12/18/2008, -1/+16"Confessions of an economic hitman" comes to mind as a place to start, it specifically addresses banking. Or "War is a Racket" by U.S. Marine Major General Smedley Darlington Butler, which is a classic. There are literally thousands of books on U.S. 20th century military history.
- dig1x, on 12/18/2008, -4/+18What kind of moron would blame it on Clinton?
Is this some kind of false duality nonsense? Clinton ran massive many years of massive surplus, ddint occupy two ME nations and wasnt responsible -- in any way -- for the current plunge into economic depression.
This is a result of GOP control of Senate and WH. First time that has happened in _a long time_. And, the current cluster *F* happened ON THEIR WATCH. And, its going to get worse. Its easy to f-things up, its harder to put them back together.
The current problem is a Grover Norquist bathroom moment -- the GOP **WANT** the nation to bankrupt itself, it can dispense with that nasty government once and for all.
Its all part of the plutocratic right-wing ethos -- Democracy? Who wants that, we're RICH! Says they. - icabodane, on 12/18/2008, -1/+1417 people have buried you. 17 people who didn't post any reason or defend the fed but apparently support this illegal fascist institution. I'd like to hear their arguments if any of them have the spine to defend the Fed, they're welcome to do so here.
- chrisduser, on 12/18/2008, -3/+16This is what happens when blind people use computers. The cap lock key is on, but the poor sob doesn't know this. What more is, blind people think a video is nice because it has good sound quality.
Don't worry blind people, in 20 years or so, every blind person will have artificial sight and as the technology advances, people born with natural eyes will have them replaced when they go to install their artificial organs, brain-computer interface, secondary brain, and thought regulator. - Stuffburger, on 12/18/2008, -1/+13I believe the words of the immortal Spock are in order:
Captain Spock: Two months ago, a Federation starship monitored an explosion on the Klingon moon, Praxis. We believe it was the result of overmining and insufficient safety precautions. The moon's decimation means a deadly pollution of their ozone: They will have depleted their supply of oxygen in 50 Earth years. Due to the enormous size of their military budget the Klingons do not have the means to deal with this catastrophe. Last month, at the behest of the Vulcan ambassador, I opened a dialogue with Gorkon, Klingon chancellor of the High Council. He proposes to begin negotiations at once.
Admiral Cartwright: Negotiations for what?
Captain Spock: The dismantling of our starbases and outposts along the Neutral Zone, an end to nearly 70 years of unremitting hostility which the Klingons can no longer afford. - dreicher, on 12/18/2008, -3/+15...and the world will be one big musical where everybody farts fairy dust.

- bjornski, on 12/18/2008, -0/+11Here's one of the first sources I grabbed.
---------------------
# "Total bankcard debt per bankcard borrower" is $5,710. This was alternatively described as the total balance of bank-issued credit cards per consumer. (Source: TransUnion, December 2008)
# 55 percent of credit card users keep a balance on their credit card, up 2 percent from 2007. (Source: ComScore, September 2008)
# The average American with a credit file is responsible for $16,635 in debt, excluding mortages, according to Experian. (Source: U.S. News and World Report, "The End of Credit Card Consumerism," August 2008)
And LOTS more info here.

You seriously think alanocu would read a book? - Izzmo, on 12/18/2008, -0/+9How about this? You're a dumbass. Good enough?
- jjmckay, on 12/18/2008, -1/+10The road to hell is paved with good intentions, especially from politicians who promise to save us from ourselves. Just looking at your own comment, you mean well, but your cursing and swearing shows that you are miserable and suffering already. Despite popular opinion, most suffering of the world is not due to money issues but rather that people are their own worst enemy, especially when they sacrifice freedoms for security and deny themselves their inalienable human rights.
Despite what you imply, the world is indeed capable of taking care of itself, as long as comprehensive human rights, including liberty and application of the rule of law.

"The 'rule of law', in its most basic form, is the principle that no one is above the law. Thomas Paine stated in his pamphlet Common Sense (1776): "For as in absolute governments the king is law, so in free countries the law ought to be king; and there ought to be no other."" - AmandaQ, on 12/18/2008, -0/+9Dr. Reddy. :-)

It takes disposable income to buy Chinese *****.
Something that fewer and fewer people here have anyway. China can't dump goods on a country a declining job base. Them continuing to send us money and goods to "prop things up" would be somewhat like bailing out the automakers, but on a much larger scale.
And I don't think they're as dumb (or corrupt) as we are. - regeya, on 12/18/2008, -1/+9No, really, it makes sense. As I was insinuating above, it amuses me that during the election we had people who wanted greater freedom, and wanted a President who respected the Constitution, but kept going on about how the great Dr. Paul was the only person who could save us so we all had to vote for him for President.
As you say, smarter ways of being stupid. - spyd3rweb, on 12/18/2008, -2/+10WHAT 9000????
- inactive, on 12/18/2008, -0/+8Bravo - well said.

LOL. No it won't. - icabodane, on 12/18/2008, -4/+12The GOP blames it on Clinton's law that made it illegal for lenders to black list entire zip codes that the considered too poor for a loan, and made them look at each applicant on a case by case basis. Indirectly, they're blaming black people for being too irresponsible to handle money, because they are the ones who benefited from most for those laws (the laws were actually intended to help struggling black families who were responsible but were being passed over just because they lived in a "black" area. There were huge discrimination issues at the time). The GOP won't come out and say it, but indeed, they do blame black people. It is just another way they spread lies and misrepresent the data to polarize their base against liberals.
The hilarious thing is, they also blame deregulation, saying that the Democrats pushed deregulation to allow for more loans, but the Republican solution is massive deregulation, not just for the banks and lenders, but all industry across the board! If we don't regulate big business, and don't make them pay taxes, they'll supposedly fix everything. The GOP is schizophrenic. - Gndoab, on 12/18/2008, -2/+10[citation needed]
- regeya, on 12/18/2008, -1/+9"The GOP blames it on Clinton's law that made it illegal for lenders to black list entire zip codes that the considered too poor for a loan, and made them look at each applicant on a case by case basis."
You do realize that the Community Reinvestment Act went into effect in 1974, right? I agree with the rest of your statement, though; it's deplorable that this sort of nonsense is sneaking through. Our deregulation has failed! Quick, let's blame the brown people and the unions!
I agree that the mainstream, modern GOP is schizo, though. Let's blame the Democrats for the deregulatory nonsense, then call for deregulation! Let's fear-monger about Obama spending into oblivion, and ask for more money for the DOD! Woohoo, we rock!!! - Me1000, on 12/18/2008, -1/+9your hand doesnt constitute sex
- hugolp, on 12/18/2008, -1/+8@Goldbricker Its not simbiotic. The consumer role of America is *****. China doesnt need America, they can find other ciients or consume it themselves. What China is doing is destroying the US factories by providing cheap credit to the US. They are even paying for letting the US money!. Why would anyone work here if you can get cheap credit? So the US factories close and they go to China. At some point China will pull the plug and US will fall.
- rynsa, on 12/18/2008, -0/+7Yes. I stand corrected. Dr. Reddy.
With that kind of academic pedigree, Dr. Reddy definitely deserves the formal title. -
