- prattmic, on 08/02/2008, -1/+135Don't all establishments have to offer free water, even if it is just a water fountain?
- airwalkery2k, on 08/02/2008, -4/+129It's okay, I'll just bring my water bottle with tap from home... oh wait, no I can't.
- valkyries, on 08/02/2008, -0/+72thats true in atleast Arizona, its agaisnt the law to not give someone free water.
- tower31, on 08/02/2008, -0/+71You can charge them for the cup though.....
- ComeOutSwingin, on 08/02/2008, -2/+69Terrorist.
- Tyrghast, on 08/02/2008, -4/+58There once was a time where flying wasn't considered a right, and you dressed well and got decent service. Now it's just pack as many sweaty uncomfortable fatasses into flying cattle cars and hope they don't riot/stampede before you reach your destination.
- techutopian, on 08/02/2008, -1/+48I guess they can expect to have fewer and fewer passengers. There is already an intrusive and time consuming bother to get past security and now they want to jack up all their prices. I am betting that the airlines are going to end up state run just like Amtrack by the time it is all said and done.
- LiberalKid, on 08/02/2008, -6/+52I love how just because its from huffington post some ***** has to bring up Obama, even though it clearly has no relation to him.
- kh99, on 08/02/2008, -1/+44I'm not sure I'd want to drink the lavatory water from an airplane.
- halogenik, on 08/02/2008, -1/+43it's a sad, sad day when we have to mcgyver our way to some free water at the airports.
- AJanitor, on 08/02/2008, -0/+41I'm bringing a backpack full of empty water bottles, filling them up after I go through security and selling them for 50 cents in the airplane.
- EvilJelloMan, on 08/02/2008, -1/+35When I fly, I carry an empty nalgene in my laptop bag, and fill it up in a fountain once I get through security. Took me all of ten seconds to figure that plan out.
- tinybubs, on 08/02/2008, -2/+34For fund raising events we buy bottled water for 25 cents a bottle from a local bottler and sell it for a buck. The airlines can't put that 25 cents into the price of my ticket? Instead they want to charge me 2 bucks for it.
- unknownpoltroon, on 08/02/2008, -0/+29***** em, I'd piss in the airsick bag before I'd pay to use their bathroom.
- Scruffydan, on 08/02/2008, -1/+30Then bring your own
- Mosheiken, on 08/02/2008, -2/+28"I feel kinda silly buying the bottled water. Everytime i go into a store im like, ya, i know you got water free from any faucet, but i wanna pay for it" -Jim Gaffigan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ynlvXyJ6WI - Majorkerina, on 08/02/2008, -2/+27Consider the deal with liquids on planes...this definitely stinks.
- ryan83189, on 08/02/2008, -1/+25That water is not potable. Fill it up at the airport.
- Zandarrr, on 08/02/2008, -4/+27The airline industry is so ***** and destroyed. It desperately needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.
- dondara, on 08/02/2008, -0/+22"They can't charge you for using the bathroom."
Shhhh, don't give them any ideas. - basye, on 08/02/2008, -0/+21Wasn't there a study done on the dangers of airplane water?
- AJanitor, on 08/02/2008, -0/+21I've flown plenty. Once you go through security you can go to restaurants, stores, etc.
Last time I went I took a nalgene, dumped it out, went through security filled it up. No issues. - urgeigh, on 08/02/2008, -2/+21It's not just flying. What you said can more or less be applied to pretty much everything in the United States.
- pstroll, on 08/02/2008, -1/+19 If America wants any sort of airline industry in the future it better allow foreign airlines to come in and setup shop.
- PhillyMJS, on 08/02/2008, -1/+19You can still bring aboard beverages purchased from shops inside the security zone. Yeah, they're overpriced as well, but it's better than nothing. I never fly without bringing along a bottle or two of water or soda bought at the airport (plus some granola bars or beef jerky or something like that brought from home) tucked into my carry-on.
You should never leave yourself at the mercy of the airlines when it comes to food and drink, you never know how long you're gonna get stuck on that plane.
If the airlines ever go movie theater on us and ban outside food and beverages from being carried on flights, that's when I stop flying altogether. - VBDon, on 08/02/2008, -7/+25You may not be able to bring a water bottle aboard a plane but you can bring an empty water bottle. Just go into the lavatory on the plane and fill it before take-off, or while in the air. They can't charge you for using the bathroom.
- MrWhite7, on 08/02/2008, -0/+17in America we can still do whatever the hell we want food and water wise after security.
- 4NDr01D, on 08/02/2008, -3/+20US Air is one of the consistently worst Airlines ever
not that our other domestic carriers are much better
seriously there is a much better class of airlines outside of the US
which is sad to say, since we invented the airplane...
read more about how crappy US Air is here:
http://communities-dominate.blogs.com/brands/2007/ ... - treefrog001, on 08/02/2008, -0/+17What's next, pay toilets?
- AJanitor, on 08/02/2008, -0/+16I hope not, that would cost me...dollars.
- inactive, on 08/02/2008, -0/+16That would be $0.50 if you want a paper bag or $1 if you want a plastic one with the airline logo, sir...
- urubos, on 08/02/2008, -0/+15Not yet anyway. It's only a matter of time though.
- Sneezyx, on 08/02/2008, -0/+15Yes, it's generally not potable. Fill it from a tap in an airport bathroom (or drinking fountain, if you can find one) before you board.
- LoveWidescreen, on 08/02/2008, -17/+32Buried as HuffPo spam. Next time, link to the original article.
- Timbo1970, on 08/02/2008, -0/+15Just avoid those carriers.
At least for international flights I never use a US carrier, may as well just kick yourself in the nuts and skip having them do it to you. - jayrok, on 08/02/2008, -0/+15Next they'll also expect you to crap into the puke bag and dispose of it at home.
- OUChevelleSS, on 08/02/2008, -0/+15I'd prefer they just charge more upfront for the general ticket cost than try to fit these lame 'fees' in somewhere.
- gothicform, on 08/02/2008, -3/+17Agreed. They even took stuff directly from the WSJ. Their entire "article" consists of stuff lifted from elsewhere.... nice example of how fair use can be abused.
- 4NDr01D, on 08/02/2008, -7/+21I'm so sick of HuffPo, DivineCaroline, Cracked, Forbes and ever other blog spam 1 picture for page list of 20 best.
DUGG DOWN - Alex2, on 08/02/2008, -0/+13Rock on. Do it.
- inactive, on 08/02/2008, -0/+11Why can't they just ask you to take a sip of the water in front of security to prove it isn't a bomb ingredient? What the hell are they thinking? Oh, yeah. 911 911 911 911 911 fear fear fear control.
- Alex2, on 08/02/2008, -0/+11http://www.epa.gov/airlinewater/questions.html
well, 13% of planes have crappy water... .literally. - AtWorkSurfer, on 08/02/2008, -1/+12Maybe because it costs money to bottle it and transport it? Even a glass of water from the tap costs money - you don't notice it because there's not a coin slot on the faucet.
- bleedingwalls, on 08/02/2008, -0/+10Why the hell would a teleporter run on gasoline?
- inactive, on 08/02/2008, -0/+10It's not as immediate a necessity, although I do agree with you literally, ymeg. You're paying several hundred dollars to be strapped into a totally isolated, pressurized tube for hours upon hours; they should treat you with a little goddamned hospitality.
- urgeigh, on 08/02/2008, -2/+12What in the United States doesn't need to be rebuilt from the ground up? :- / It seems like just about every industry, organization, governmental department, corporation or otherwise is *****!
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+10Somebody built me a goddam teleport so I don't need to fly anymore
- Travelsonic, on 08/02/2008, -0/+10Apples to oranges.
You can go a long period of time without food. Dehydration comes quicker - especially waiting on the ground in a hot plane for example. - flyguyjm, on 08/02/2008, -0/+10Read whole story here (a link on the page) - http://blogs.wsj.com/middleseat/2008/08/01/startin ...
- and303, on 08/02/2008, -0/+10Of course, then they'll want a couple billion of our tax dollars when people stop flying with them and they start going out of business (as seen with United and others who have deplorable customer service).
And the "offsetting fuel prices" thing...give me a break. It isn't like we haven't noticed the cost of airfare double in the last 5 years. -
