- doctechnical, on 03/09/2008, -1/+17I just got a whole carton of porn pancakes at the lowest price ever! Thank you, spamming sock puppets!
- Daniel591992, on 03/09/2008, -4/+15Even better is http://priceprotectr.com . Saved me over $80 in stuff from Amazon. The difference is that priceprotectr monitors it after you buy, not before. Everyone who buys online should use it.
- sockpuppets, on 03/09/2008, -1/+11They give sock puppets a bad name.
- darkane, on 03/09/2008, -0/+10I've seen uglier websites. But not in the past 10 years.
- trendmagic, on 03/09/2008, -3/+13this is an awesome service. i wonder how many items you can track at once? this would be really useful for small businesses that sell products. They would be able to cross reference dozens of suppliers in order to get the best price.
- hollywoodphony, on 03/09/2008, -3/+12Lame. Doesn't cover ANY of the mail order bride services. At least not the Cambodian ones.
- PL3NTY, on 03/09/2008, -1/+9cus they paid a company to digg it...
- displaced1, on 03/09/2008, -5/+13How the hell did this make the front page?
- inactive, on 03/09/2008, -4/+11Digg just aint the same with this new algorithm
- acdcfanbill, on 03/09/2008, -0/+6Because if the price drops on amazon 30 days after you buy it, email them and they will refund you the difference. It's a price guarantee type thing.
- DIGGADEEP, on 03/09/2008, -1/+6as much as i love lifehacker that throu link was not necessary...
- fkr3, on 03/09/2008, -3/+7How does it save you money after you've already bought the product?
- SomeImagination, on 03/09/2008, -0/+4Bah, I wish I'd thought of this. One of these days I'm gonna dream up a decent web app to develop
- badqat, on 03/09/2008, -1/+4They should have paid engadget to spam it...it'd have made the front page quicker.
- Daniel591992, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2Not sure why I'm getting buried, but most sites have a price protection policy. See comment above
- TheClassic, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2Its when buying from a merchant who offers price protection or whatever where they will give you a refund if they drop the price after you buy it. I was wondering the same thing; it explains it if you click on the link, but it would have been nice if Daniel explained it.
- aladrin, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1Try going to some of the auction sites other than eBay. They're -much- uglier.
- badqat, on 03/09/2008, -2/+3What? You mean the non-stop corporate and obama spam aren't a good thing?
- donna1234, on 07/15/2008, -0/+1Just highlight the price on any site and use their bookmarklet

http://www.highpr.net - GodIsntReal, on 03/09/2008, -3/+4Pretty neat, Does anyone know how often it checks for lower prices? Hourly, Daily?
- fkr3, on 03/09/2008, -2/+3Is it just me or is the timeframe for stories becoming popular getting a bit ridiculous? 1 day 17 hours? I've seen this story sitting in the upcoming / most popular since Friday...
- BradBrown, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1It will in about 18 hours. Thanks!
- pak314, on 03/10/2008, -0/+1Are you coding something up or just hoping someone will?
- pak314, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1What would be neat is a cell phone application that reads a barcode (through camera) and checks with a server for prices online so you can see if it is a good deal or not while shopping in a store. Does something like that already exist?
- binaryloop, on 03/10/2008, -0/+1Just remember the exclamation mark (!) is silent.
- ravencin, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1i love amazon http://pxgp.net/amazon
- cosmotic, on 03/09/2008, -1/+2blog spam
- searcade, on 03/09/2008, -3/+3they probably earning alot of money using this, and doesnt this seem like an advert?
- inactive, on 03/09/2008, -0/+0Also try CrazyTownDeals.com
- ignorantcow, on 03/09/2008, -1/+1Ugh, why do people keep digging blogspam?
- jdubbleu, on 03/10/2008, -0/+0I've been using priceprotectr.com for a few months. It's alot like pinx. I haven't received any spam that I can identify as coming as a result of my signing up for PP, but who knows for sure. I can say that the broader point is that if I can save some bucks (and I've saved about $200), that's worth the spam being blocked by the spam filter. Even more broadly, it's smarter to empower ourselves as consumers rather than try to evade the barrage of information gathering we are experiencing. I say use the information to our advantage and funnel it rather than allowing ourselves to be sprayed with random advertising. That's the kind of site I want.
- inkswamp, on 03/10/2008, -1/+1I'd use it if they didn't require an email. With a method of user identification, I'm betting that a database of online buying/browsing habits will slowly be built behind the scenes. The sale of that database to annoying advertisers and third parties might not be worth the convenience of receiving an email for sales that I can find via other, less intrusive sources. (And I'm not falling for that "We do not spam!" blurb on the sign-up page. Maybe you don't but others using your information might.) I'll pass, and I'd advise many of you to consider the convenience-privacy trade-off that probably lurks behind this site.
