- Mattwdj, on 02/26/2009, -0/+22By far the craziest is the Subsidization and protectionism of our sugar farms. Making the price of sugar ridiculously inflated. Thats why most companies use the High Fructose corn syrup that contributes the the obesity problems.
While at the same time sugar farmers in America are basically millionaires. - nmessick, on 02/25/2009, -4/+19...hey man, another 750 Billion for Crazy Subsidies are comming your way!
- misstery, on 02/26/2009, -3/+12Anger management for 3 year olds??????? how about turning off the tv and giving them water instead of coke? Oh yeah, sorry, that cut costs rather than creates them. Boy, am I stupid
- inactive, on 02/26/2009, -5/+12Only a dozen posts and already the leftist bury brigades are on top of it. No one shall question government spending, our government is god.
- AngustheCat, on 02/26/2009, -3/+9Hold on, I can see value in studying methods of turning trash into hydrocarbons. Why is that crazy?
- Ghoztt, on 02/26/2009, -5/+11This is why economic Socialism will never work. When we give our wealth to an ARTIFICIAL ENTITY that constantly fights TRANSPARENCY, and creates a system in which no single person can even see what 3% of it is doing... you create this:
A monkey with hands covering the ears.
A monkey with hands covering the mouth.
A monkey with hands covering the eyes.
The benefit of deciding what to do with your own hard earned wealth is not that suddenly cooperation is thrown out the window (As the Socialists would like you to believe) but YOU GET TO SEE EXACTLY WHERE YOUR WEALTH IS GOING. Ultimate transparency. As you know you will not be giving your wealth to some lazy person leeching off of you. Or to some greedy corporate CEO that is ignorant of the equations facing society as a whole.
Deciding where your own money goes by your OWN DECISIONS would be great. I would give my wealth to a contractor in town fix my roads. I would give my wealth to my local farmers to make sure I would have food to eat. I would give my wealth to my disabled brother to make sure he has food to eat and a place to stay. I would give my wealth to my fire department to make sure we have trained men on standby 24/7.
But I know who I wouldn't be giving my wealth to....
Economic Socialism over-rides all this. Hey. As long as you are friends with a senator, even if you don't deserve it you can steal the wealth from all of America. - inactive, on 02/26/2009, -0/+3Yes, that is very clearly stated in the article. 6 are in the us
- pennvneff, on 02/26/2009, -1/+3How about the corn subsidies in the US? That's the biggest ***** scam around, well next to the welfare state up there in Alaska.
- AlbinoRaven, on 02/26/2009, -0/+2Because methane recapture projects in dumps have been going on for 35 years. It's basically spending money that's already been spent. It was big thing in the 70's with the oil crisis to develop alternative sources. Practically all the stuff you see now from solar, to wind to methane reclamation is from the 70's, not much really has changed other than the fact big companies are seriously looking at this stuff instead of the original inventors that were bought out or sued long ago.

Two pages. - pradaaddict, on 02/26/2009, -2/+4Wow, all on one page. This is a new one for Askmen.com
- inactive, on 02/26/2009, -0/+2There a drain on society because our governments are a drain on us.
- Peko, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1My dis-whatnow for all things GW?
- ejacobwolf, on 02/26/2009, -2/+3wait? no volcano monitoring?
/sarcasm - inactive, on 02/26/2009, -4/+5wow, too many dem apologists here.
- edyang, on 02/26/2009, -1/+2Watching a Democrat majority ram through spending bills with no time for examination is watching a crack addict...ah hell, I'm too upset to even come up with a catchy analogy.
- GeorgeTirebiter, on 02/26/2009, -1/+2Thanks loads, Tom.
- griffinjam, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1I think the fuel/crap and ink ones are actually both good ideas.
I mean, the fuel/crap one panned out, they used the federal money and found that this was a viable option and are now building a power plant based on what they learned. This is exactly why government subsidies exist, sometimes something is too much risk for a company to sink money into unless they know it will work, but if the end result is something that would benefit the country then it is worth it for the government to help cover the costs. - alamedaman, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1these numbers mean nothing anymore. they just print however much they feel like from their press.
- inactive, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1The ink removal is not that crazy. If people can't get jobs, they become criminals and a drain on society. If they become more employable they will help the economy. Only short sighted ***** jew ***** repubs can't see this.
- anixmander, on 03/02/2009, -0/+1Average hospital stays would definitely go way up.
In a manner of speaking. - xCIone, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1This is craziness
- nullity, on 02/26/2009, -1/+1Half of these are not bad ideas, and I consider myself fairly libertarian.
#1 Retraining prostitutes as nurses. If the government wants them off the street, why not give them a useful occupation instead of locking them up at the expense of tax payers?
Hellooo nurse! - gnomik, on 03/01/2009, -0/+0BRB, need to go to the chicken coup to roost!
- cristele, on 03/01/2009, -0/+0...number nine is stupid? You never heard of methane? We produce electricity from cows crap and pigs crap, why not bird crap? Makes total sense to me, and plus by burning it we would stop the flies spreading in regions of intensive chicken farms. Sounds pretty sound to me, and far from being crazy.
- spgass, on 02/26/2009, -4/+4Interesting list... and I thought the money for ATV trails in the stimulus package was bad:
http://lowtechtimes.com/2009/02/20/specific-mentio ... - steliza, on 02/26/2009, -2/+0you do realize that a good many of these aren't even from the U.S., right?
- bty2047, on 02/26/2009, -5/+2yes you are
- imarascal, on 02/26/2009, -5/+1Too bad that milk bar isn't near the future home of the octoplets. Mama saisd she wanted to breast feed them. Maybe that one with triple K breasts could open a bar.
- jazino, on 02/26/2009, -9/+1Propaganda trolls.
- poprocksandsoda, on 02/26/2009, -14/+6Lactation Station Milk Bar sounds tastey. I just hope it's served fresh straight from the source. :p
Anyways, if you didn't expect the Dems to line the pockets of every one of their special interests with our money you haven't been paying very close attention. Your disdance for all things GW has given them a license to print money for whatever they want to.
