- QuantumBios, on 09/17/2008, -3/+186"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

-- Thomas Jefferson, Letter to the Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin - TruthExposed, on 09/17/2008, -4/+118Wouldn't it be stupid if this guy ran for high office and we, instead of voting for him, voted for an economically ignorant person who thinks central banks are good?
In theory the Fed issuing fiat currency works, but it has never worked in reality for any length of time.
In order to make it work, you will need to give the Fed every financial report of every kind produced between today and today's date in 2040.
The Feds problem is that it cannot predict the future, and will continuously get it wrong. Central banks in every country have always had this problem.
Until you can get them the information above, they will continue to make disastrous mistakes, but they will still look good in "perfect world" models that do not account for political ambitions, government misconduct etc etc.
There is not 1 example in all of history where a fiat currency lasted more than 100 years after debasement.
We even have coins worth MORE than their face value:

http//www.campaignforliberty.com - sandsafari, on 09/17/2008, -12/+83To think we all had a chance to make this wise man our leader. Instead we are going to get more of the same...
www.campaignforliberty.com - noyritus, on 09/18/2008, -6/+67Obama and McCain have no idea what we are dealing with or what Ron's speech is even about. Socialism is music to Obama's hears, I'm sure he supports even more goverment sponsered bailouts and if it was up to him we'd just go ahead and Nationalize the entire country.
Why in the hell didn't americans elect Ron Paul. Please, be a shinning example in the world and support what your founding fathers fought and died for. They were a lot more intelligent than they are given credit. Follow your own damn Constitution! How hard is that! Do it Amerika. You can be proud. - Ebacherville, on 09/18/2008, -3/+52this makes me so embarrassed to be a American.. We had the opportunity and let the media blindside the entire country with there outcasting of candidates like Ron Paul.
- jaxontyler, on 09/18/2008, -0/+45I am proud to say I voted for him.
- stealthc, on 09/18/2008, -1/+40It's not just about "seeing it coming." Ron Paul knew what to do about it, and still does.
- mfc5200, on 09/18/2008, -0/+37Ron Paul asking McCain a question about economics. Everyone thought it was a stupid question at the time. Seems to be very relevant right now... Lehman, Freddie, Fannie, AIG, Bear Stearns....

- inactive, on 09/17/2008, -2/+38Even one of the Governors of the Federal Reserve said this back in 2003. So Bernanke can't pretend that this was a big surprise and that he didn't know.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&si ...
"While leading the St. Louis Fed, Poole roiled markets in 2003 when he said the government should consider severing its implied backing of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and said the companies lack the capital to weather financial market disruptions. In 2006 and 2007 he called for lawmakers to strip Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac of their charters." - Brallit, on 09/18/2008, -5/+34"Vote anyone EXCEPT McCain or Obama."
I've been trying to spread that message to anyone who'll listen. Still too many Obamatons out there though :( - BlacklabelSAR, on 09/18/2008, -1/+30To all the people saying "Ron Paul is not God" you completely miss the point. This is about a Constitutionally based government. The entire fiat money system is a racket. It's about the ideals for a free society, not any one person.
How about Dennis Kucinich? The problem is that integrity is so rare in our "Public Servants" that those who have it stand out, and are then rediculed and smeared. That's the game.
And it doesn't serve "We the People". So who does it serve? Now we are asking the right question. - FreeTalkLIve, on 09/18/2008, -6/+34Ron Paul warned of all this ***** in the presidential elections. He is the only guy up there that is telling the truth.
Americans don't want to hear the truth. They want someone to pat them on the back and tell them that everything is OK.
Winning politicians lie because that's what the American people want.
They want to live in a fantasy land of hope speeches on one side, and God's plan on the other. Both sides are full of ***** and lies. That's what the people vote for because they can't handle the truth. - Striker101, on 09/18/2008, -1/+29good Digg. I only wish that Paul had stuck with the LP after 1988, and sorely wish the LP had brought him back for 2008. Barr instead, who did us much damage, has no libertarian conscience. Wonder if we could switch them at this late hour?
- MooseOfReason, on 09/18/2008, -0/+27Don't blame me! I voted for Ron Paul!

- cmobrien, on 09/18/2008, -0/+20A true American patriot.
- cypherl, on 09/18/2008, -2/+22Why oh why can't we have Ron Paul as president? it makes me want to cry :(
- pontiac, on 09/18/2008, -1/+19There was an outcry. It was his campaign. Millions of people showed up to rallies all across the country in support of Ron Paul. But we got laughed at by the mainstream and the media called him crazy. So now this is what we get. This to me summs up what is happening and what will continue to happen in this country:
"Nobody panics when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying. If tomorrow I tell the press that like a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all, part of the plan. But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!" -The Joker, from The Dark Knight
I feel like everyone just accepts that these kinds of things happen and it's all part of the plan. Governments are corrupt, we get ourselves into wars we should never be in, but don't panic because it's all part of the plan. If we ever realized that there are more of us than there are of them and that we CAN and OUGHT TO do soemthing about all this mess. Well then they'd just be in a world of trouble wouldn't they?
People shouldn't be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of people. I mean they work for us don't they? Shouldn't we be allowed to fire these bums? If any of us did as poorly at our jobs as they have done running our country we'd get fired wouldn't we? Why can't we find some frakking competent people and put them in office? Oh that's right because the sane plan is so drastically different from the insane one we currently find ourselves in that no one will buy it because to the insane person sanity appears as lunacy.
What do we do? What do we do? - MercedRocks, on 09/18/2008, -0/+17Then why is Congress getting off the hook and Bush being blamed for it all? They're all partially responsible.....
- thechitowncubs, on 09/18/2008, -1/+18I knew this already.
http://www.campaignforliberty.com - quistoman, on 09/18/2008, -2/+17Bitter sweet times as all the morons that were laughing at Ron Paul calling him a flake and a quack are now realizing that the only candidate that wasn't blowing smoke up there ass is now out of the race.
I know it wont help but I’ve decided to exercise my rights and write Ron Paul in… - GorfTron, on 09/18/2008, -1/+14McCain 2008 - What does not kill us, make is fundamentally strong.
- GorfTron, on 09/18/2008, -1/+14I think we are all set for a "Freedom Jesus Patriot Recession" that will make us fundamentally stronger.
- Kent4jmj, on 09/18/2008, -0/+13Striker my opinion, the I like ... BUT statements are self defeating and unproductive.
If you like what Ron Paul has done and what he stands for then why criticize those that want to take the ball and run with it? A grass roots movement of this size is impressive. Your energy and intellect in support of such a movement would be a positive action.
I am challenging you to get off the fence, for or against instead of this on the fence thing would make more sense wouldn't it? - thejackamo, on 09/18/2008, -0/+12I read through this was just amazed. Everything is true. I voted for Paul in the primaries, believing (and still believing) that it would be a wasted vote as he would never be elected. But this right here, plus a lot of other things that he's said in the past about government interference in the economy, has only reenforced the feeling I had when I voted for him, as well as depressed me that America doesn't also vote for such a smart man.
- carynyao, on 09/18/2008, -2/+12Spread Dr. Paul's message using the failing dollar... Dr. Paul is the only one who knows how to save that piece of paper.

- dafragsta, on 09/18/2008, -2/+11Is there any wonder this country is in the *****? Republicans have had a STRANGLEHOLD on this country pandering to social conservatives from all walks out one side of their mouth and cutting deals for special interests out the other, yet the one true Republican who has a reputation for honesty, small government, and embodies 90% of the GOP ideology, including the whole Pro Life thing can't get the nomination because he doesn't hate fags and won't quote the Bible when speaking to the press.
- solidwhetstone, on 09/18/2008, -0/+9It's insane really. This sort of thing should REALLY bother us. All of us. If we are Americans and we give a crap about our country- these recent turns of events should be an alarm in our heads that something is VERY VERY wrong.
- root1657, on 09/18/2008, -1/+10what does killin and slavin have to do with his views on the banking system? Nice ad hominem...
- Allegiance, on 09/18/2008, -1/+10Check out Baldwin; he worked like mad for Paul from the beginning, then won the Constitution party nomination after he saw what was being done to Paul by the GOP. If nothing else, he'd make a great 'anti-vote'.
- brad3378, on 09/18/2008, -0/+9.........Just wait until he's actually elected!!! CHANGE!!!!
- HippyJM, on 09/18/2008, -1/+10Sucks being right.
- inactive, on 09/18/2008, -0/+8Ron Paul drew attention, and continues to draw attention to the ideas of liberty and freedom. It's not everything that was hoped for, but its still important. I consider his efforts more important than obtaining some office where he might slow the theft and corruption for a time.
I think if he had been elected he would've been shot, or forced into an impossible situation of compromise or destruction. I prefer a live advocate for liberty to a tragically martyr any day. - compulsive1, on 09/18/2008, -0/+8Read your own ***** article:
"The administration's proposal, which was endorsed in large part today by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, would not repeal the significant government subsidies granted to the two companies. And it does not alter the implicit guarantee that Washington will bail the companies out if they run into financial difficulty; that perception enables them to issue debt at significantly lower rates than their competitors. Nor would it remove the companies' exemptions from taxes and antifraud provisions of federal securities laws."
Huge difference from what RP proposed. Bush's proposal would probable let them off the hook even easier. They wouldn't be all for it otherwise. - karel747, on 09/18/2008, -0/+8It's disheartening above all else. I saw people campaigning in my university - people putting hours and money into campaigning for him. I saw billboards next to the interstate, damn it! People campaigning for an politician they truly believed in - but what use is any of it when Fox and CNN do nothing but mindlessly and disgustingly berate the man like juveniles for millions to see? The Republican debates were some of the most despicable things I've ever seen. When Paul was given his glorious 20 seconds to speak every now and then, commentators would lie and laugh and glee at his expense... it was pathetic. It was saddening. I felt it was disgraceful to the American People.
I'm angry that the media doesn't give two ***** about integrity, or the great nation of America, which is rapidly losing that title. - snassiri, on 09/18/2008, -2/+10oh yeah, truth is oh-so-annoying.
- zotar, on 09/18/2008, -0/+8Since when is the Fed and US Treasury the same? The Fed was only created in 1913.
"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." -Woodrow Wilson, after signing the Federal Reserve into existence - chickenloco, on 09/18/2008, -0/+8Hey, theres probably 1 Ron Paul story to ever 100 Obama / Anti McCain Palin stories.
- Borramakot, on 09/18/2008, -0/+8Yes, we get it. We know. Does that make him wrong on policy?
- PeppermintPig, on 09/18/2008, -0/+8Love how McCain fails to answer the question.
Circle of criminals is more like it. - inactive, on 09/18/2008, -0/+7Embarrassed?
That's silly.
SADLY people don't want candidates like Ron Paul. They want candidates like John McCain and Barrack Obama. Ron Paul is white and old, but passionate and weird, not down to earth like McCain. He doesn't have the charismatic good looks, and booming voice of an Obama.
Don't be embarrassed, I imagine you tried, for what little good it could do. You can't be blamed for the idiot leaders who run this country, and the poor mislead people who elect them thinking it's their duty, to participate, and trying to prevent the evil the other side will perpetrate. - inactive, on 09/18/2008, -0/+7The media is controlled, that is why he is not in it! They don't WANT you to know about him, and supress him at every chance they get. Even here on Digg, Ron Paul stories are targeted by the bury brigade. If you seek out unbiased media, (which is VERY difficult) you'll find Dr. Paul highly praised.
