- NathanLands, on 11/08/2009, -0/+16This makes me happy to live in San Francisco... yeah..
- eagles7977, on 11/09/2009, -0/+15I wish gas in Canada would be as cheap as gas in the United States.
- sheetrock, on 11/09/2009, -0/+10Just about everything in Norway is more expensive, though, isn't it?
On the other hand, you don't come out of college with six figures of debt, or get bankrupted by hospital bills, so I suppose things have a way of evening out.
Still, it must suck having to dodge penguins on the road. - Connox, on 11/09/2009, -0/+8Try going abroad you guys. The mean price for gas in Norway is aproximately four times higher than yours ;o
- dracolich, on 11/09/2009, -0/+8Gas is cheap in states with major refinery's, less transport costs from the source to the pump. Texas, Mississippi, New Jersey, they all have them, hence lower price/number of cars/miles driven ratio of the graphic.
- gvoakes, on 11/09/2009, -2/+10Gas (today) in Victoria BC is $1.05 per litre, which translates to $3.97CAD per gallon. With the Canadian dollar being nearly on-par with the US Dollar, it's about $3.70 on average. But then again, living on an island makes gas prices a bit higher due to getting it delivered. I'd be interested to hear what the prices are like from coast to coast in Canada.
- Apex3, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8That's pretty stupid to think the president influences gas prices in certain areas. Gas is cheaper in Texas because *gasp* they have oil refineries there.
- smacksaw, on 11/09/2009, -2/+7I would argue that gas taxes in Canada do far more to provide infrastructure there than the investment made in the USA.
You could have that cheap gas, but QEW/401/TC etc would be even worse. TTC would be underdeveloped. There'd be no Canada line in Vancouver for 2010...maybe the Evergreen line would not be on hold. The bridges in Montreal would not be replaceable when they collapse. - FI5HERMAN, on 11/09/2009, -0/+5Gas prices will always follow the supply and demand trends in the world just as oil does. !!!
- gizram84, on 11/09/2009, -0/+5BUSH SECRETLY LOWERED THE GAS PRICEZ IN TEXAS!!!!!!! I LOVE OBAMA!!!
- IKORKYI, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4but oil doesn't follow supply and demand....at least i'm not seeing that in the trend
- sladek, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4in the UK, fuel is at least $4 per US gallon
- digghasnoethics, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4Actually its $6.60 at the current price/exchange rate.
That gives the UK some cushioning when the price rises, proportionately it makes less difference to us. - londonflare, on 11/09/2009, -0/+31.27 cars per person in Wyoming is pretty obscene. I know it is very rural, but is it really neccesary for every man, woman and child to have an extra quarter of a car lying about?
- spartan777, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3And be happy that we have the worst, least-funded public transportation of any comparable nation.
/s - Apex3, on 11/09/2009, -1/+4I wish people would stop complaining so much about gas prices. Let's say you get 25mpg on average and drive 15,000 miles a year, if gas goes up a dollar, you're spending a whole $600 extra on gas to fill up your $15,000 car, OH NO! But then people have no problem buying coffee every morning, which even at a conservative estimate of $3 a cup, which would maybe get you just plain coffee, you're spending over $1000/year.
You wanna complain about the way oil companies do business, sure whatever, but gas prices aren't that big of a deal, and a lot of other countries are a lot worse off than we are. - Landgarbe, on 11/09/2009, -1/+4In Germany, the price for a litre of gas is 2$, that are 7.50$. In Europe, the prices are on average 6.35$ per gallon, the cheapest in Rumania with still 5$ per gallon.
So be happy that the USA is not as ecologically sensitive as countries in Europe. - bbqribs, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2Oil prices should be a lot lower. We have record high supply and record low demand. Even OPEC is blaming speculators and day traders for the currently high prices.

We need to be able to slap Wall Street around. - jacobjohnson, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2downside is its NJ
- TehProphet, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2Wow, I didn't realize it was so much more/less expensive in some states. I think I just paid $2.65 when I filled up at Arco the other day. it's around $2.70-$2.85 at most places in oregon. People sure make a big deal over such a small difference though. I don't really care if it fluctuates 10c-30c just as long as it doesn't get crazy expensive like it did a year or 2 ago when it was over $4
- Bobby1990, on 11/09/2009, -2/+4Republicans always get the crap. Its just like bush was blamed for national debt but its ok for obama to raise the debt even higher.
- linagee, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2The cheapest gas listed on this page is $2.51/gal? I don't get it. I only pay $2.45/gal...
- IKORKYI, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2gas prices in texas were low before Bush. FAIL meme.
- Bizzarn, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2Thunder Bay, Ontario - $1.02 per litre this morning.
- inactive, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2smart people don't blame either.
- yayster, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1you drive in sf? you are a tool.
- akseitz, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Living in AK when it comes to gas prices sucks for two reasons. First, our recovery process lags behind the rest of the economy which means our prices stay higher than everyone else for longer but raise at the same time. Secondly, while we actually drill in Alaska, everything has to be shipped to California for processing before coming back to our ports. It has to travel all that distance twice... and we're never going to have our own refinery here for the same reasons we can't drill in ANWR. Environmentalists go nuts about it and no one wants a refinery in their own backyard.
- sladek, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Whoops, i forgot to convert £ to $
- LacY, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1I wonder if that includes farming equipment, horse trailers, etc. I'm guessing it does, which somewhat inflates the numbers a bit.
- ASSASSYN360, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Where was this last year?
- jpm545, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspx
- gsfgf, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Many people out there will have a one ton (or even bigger) work truck and a more fuel efficient, parkable vehicle for every day use.
- johnwayne1, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1It's good to be a Texan.
- pathouston22, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1How fitting that all the liberals pay more for gas, since they hate energy so much, they should use less of it since they can't afford to buy as much!
- lindsayjc, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Bye
- gizram84, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1speculate much?
facts plox. - gizram84, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1haha, you're happy to be in sf??
you just made my life better. - monodelasno, on 11/09/2009, -1/+1It's an average value. Plenty of podunk areas have lower prices.
- monodelasno, on 11/09/2009, -0/+0So why are industry stockpiles well above the seasonal average? Why are producers scrambling to find places to store the stuff? How is it demand is flat yet prices have jumped 20%?
Oil pricing has disconnected from reality once again. - kylere, on 11/09/2009, -1/+1Well, considering we lack universal health care, our taxes on commodities are lower, perhaps you should whine less on your next free trip to the Doc about fuel costs.
- inactive, on 11/09/2009, -1/+1The "value" of the worthless paper Honecker-in-Black-face is printing hourly is changing the price you pay. Less gas is being sold because Dear Leader, his pet "community organizers" and his Chicago thugs have created 17% unemployment, and no one needs fuel to drive to work. The cost of pumping and refining oil hasn't gone up.
- dmville, on 11/09/2009, -0/+0Time to move away to Venezuela or Saudi Arabia
- inactive, on 11/09/2009, -5/+5MrSotchBoy just really embarassed himsefl with his lack of understanding ofthe industry. Pretty funny really.
- blankoblanko, on 11/09/2009, -0/+0Gas is cheap in NJ because we have a lot of refineries. The downside is we smell like a foot.
- BerateBirthers, on 11/09/2009, -2/+2Saving a few bucks on gas ain't work me heading down south. We're already seen what the people of Kentucky do if you just ask them about the census.
- QQQQUUUU, on 11/09/2009, -0/+01. NJ has really hot chicks and that is for sure. I used to live in PA and we would go to night clubs in NJ cause the girls were so pretty.
2. California has lots of refineries and the gas prices here are really high. Also we have oil in the ground here and the the prices are really high -
