The Truth About Money and Happiness
pickthebrain.com — It is an oft repeated axiom that money cannot buy happiness. While this is certainly true, poverty will not buy happiness either. Some people become very wealthy, yet struggle to enjoy their lives. On the other hand, others manage to go through life with very few money problems simply because they are able to make the most of what they have.

Are you ready?
Its called appreciating what you have and being alive.
I know, the concept is probably entirely foreign to most Diggers. - third_eye, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4You can survey millions of people. Many will say money doesn't buy you happiness - but then almost all of them would say (when asked) that they would be HAPPY to be given money. Go figure.
- DermDoc, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4If you cannot be happy without money. You will not be happy with money. I have seen it over and over again.

- yodaj007, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3Money cannot buy happiness. But it does not prevent one from being happy, either. Indeed, money and happiness are only related through the perceptions of the people seeking happiness. They might think, "if I had as much money as that person, I'd be happier." They need to understand that that isn't necessarily true. There's the illusion that the people richer than themselves are happy. But are they really? How do you know unless you ask them?
You can be happy now. Cherish your children. Love your neighbors. Enrich each other's lives. Look out for one another. It is my firm belief that happiness can only come through our connection with other people. Friendships. Children. Marriages. Give gifts to other people for no other reason than to show you care. Live not for yourself but for others, and you will find true happiness.
At least, that's what I think. Here's some books I've read that you might be interested in:

Better health and better housing are just two things that money can buy you that have a major impact on your state of mind.
- RabbitAbout, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3It's true that you don't have to have lots of money to be happy.
However, more money = more choices available. eg. a nicer area to live. less hours to work. more time to enjoy life! That would make me happier...
Sorry - Had a stressful day at work ;-( - domainlovah, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2Money may not be able to buy you happiness. However, it can buy you a boat so damn big you can pull up right next to it.
