- nahsrocketeer75, on 01/03/2009, -0/+7FTA: "There are two kinds of CEO firings," says Noel Tichy, a professor at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. "There are the crooks and there are the incompetents." This year the biggest departing names all fell into a gray area in between. .... (And I thought the gray area meant they were both crooked AND incompetent.)
- ketdizzle, on 01/03/2009, -0/+6yes golden parachutes...but most deserve a golden shower from the regular employees they screw over
- ddetina, on 01/03/2009, -0/+6Why do doctors get sued for malpractice while these bozos retire with a bonus for doing essentially the same thing?
- ExcitedMoose, on 01/03/2009, -0/+5Lets not forget Circuit City's finest Philip Schoonover, too bad he spent years driving the company into the ground before he was done.
- lovemorgul, on 01/03/2009, -0/+5People have no idea how bad it can really get. There's a lot of strain on a lot of companies right now.
- martynda, on 01/03/2009, -0/+5Clearly not enough... IMO since the bailout passed, one of the the criteria for a company taking the money should be to fire it's CEO.
- leif77, on 01/03/2009, -0/+5Except they bury more things than they digg...
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -0/+4CEO's what are good for? Appsolutly nothing! Say it again. CEO's, whoa, Lord What are they good for ... Absolutely nothing!
- fishshogun, on 01/03/2009, -0/+4You forgot rich.....very rich.
- SuperJimmyJimbo, on 01/04/2009, -0/+4Steve Jobs?
*ducks for cover - JessterKing, on 01/04/2009, -0/+4why? because we live in mock democracy where the ones with the money are the ones who really run the show. which explains why the ***** has hit the fan so fantasticly. but its all worth it, to see their faces right before they die. lol
- yebozwana, on 01/04/2009, -0/+3kick them out - start again - some one else is always willing to try and mess things up
- icona, on 01/03/2009, -0/+3Seize their assets and put them behind the bars along with their accomplices.
- czeman, on 01/04/2009, -0/+2I'm disappointed that a certain CEO of a major theme park company isn't on the list.
- JessterKing, on 01/04/2009, -0/+2now thats the kind of trimming of fat that needs to happen. if every company dropped the pay grade of the top 20 executives and whom ever else gets paid too damn much to at the very most mid six figures, no companies would need these hand outs.
- poddys, on 01/05/2009, -0/+2If you thought 2008 was bad, I bet 2009 will be worse for many companies.
Still, no matter how a company performs, if a CEO does a good job, he doesn't deserve to be fired. It's only the crooks and those who can't perform that need to go.
Sad thing is that the bad CEO's still have that golden handshake - it's a win/win situation for them.
Not so for us poor employees who get made unemployed because a company is driven into the ground. - memper, on 01/03/2009, -0/+2 "People have no idea how bad it can really get. There's a lot of strain on a lot of companies right now." (Mark Hodak)
- CedEx, on 01/05/2009, -0/+2If not a golden parachute to cushion their fall, they could use their generous signing bonus instead. Either way, you'll never see any CEO in line for unemployment cheques.
- Incidents, on 01/03/2009, -0/+2Didn't the Yahoo! CEO basically get fired, too? He said he would step down after they found a replacement, most likely due to swarms of angry shareholders.
- bynddrvn, on 01/13/2009, -0/+1And these CEOs are really worth millions and millions of dollars? Could someone explain to me how every one of the big 3 detroit automakers pull in millions and millions in salary when the CEO of Toyota earns UNDER $1 million?
I would love to see shareholders get to weigh in on how much the CEO is paid, not just a bunch of "yes men" on the corporate board. - inactive, on 01/03/2009, -1/+2Actually most of these CEOs are not getting golden parachutes, in fact the regular employees have better severance packages than most c-level leadership positions and are even entitled for their state's unemployment.
- JenniferInMO, on 01/03/2009, -1/+2Firing those responsible for the dismal failures of their companies is not enough, especially when the company is an essential part of our economy. And companies need to be broken down into smaller pieces. Let the divestitures begin!
- Ruthieapple, on 01/04/2009, -2/+1It's time to read the bible and pray....not a time to expect our leaders to bail us out
you can serve God or money and unfortunately many are so intoxicated with their
money and position -- kind of like adultry they get so brain washed they don't know
they are losing everything and unfortunately our country will follow pray for our leaders and wisdom!
