- God forbid you have to cook on a Friday night. You can't just make a double batch of something earlier in the week and reheat it?
And the woman who only recently decided to clip coupons? I hope for her sake that she doesn't drop the coupon game if she gets a nice pay raise sometime. If you have a yard, use it to grow vegetables. Buy ***** on sale. If you want to splurge, go right ahead. America is a rich country and you are free to do whatever makes you happy ... just don't say something like "no working mother should have to cook on a Friday night". Talk like that to my grandparents and you'd be in for a long lecture on what it was like for them.
People nowadays are too unbelievably spoiled. We should be grateful for the way of life that we have, not have this attitude that we are entitled to have someone else cook for us after a long week of raising kids and "working" at a mere forty hour job that my grandparents' generation would've considered a vacation. - StaticThunder, on 06/11/2008, -0/+9Hmmm. Broken digg has been. Take not so seriously you should. ~Yoda
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 06/11/2008, -1/+10Restaurant portions are oversized anyway. If you aren't bringing home a lunch when you eat out, you're probably wasting food or eating too much.
- FyreGoddess, on 06/11/2008, -1/+10I've actually spent a lot of breath lately complaining about that very issue. They almost always bring me way more food than I can eat... even sometimes when I specify "don't bring me the sides" or "easy on the [whatever]. The cooks and servers are conditioned to that way of presenting the food, and when people don't get it, they feel they've been ripped off.

Which amendment in the Bill of Rights was that one? - FyreGoddess, on 06/11/2008, -0/+8That's why I think that articles like this are important. People need to see that they're shocked by things that are really petty. Not being able to order 3 pizzas on a Friday or the idea that *gasp* restaurant portion sizes may get smaller are things that aren't really all that horrible, but the entitlement leads people to expect that these things are always going to be available to them. They have a RIGHT.
Our world is changing and people don't like change. It requires adaptation in a lot of ways. People are driving less, they're taking shorter or closer vacations, they're clipping coupons, curbing their spending, watching what they actually buy. These changes are harder for people.
This is one of the few "Prices are going up" articles that I've seen on Digg that don't resort to scare tactics and OMGWTF IT'S THE APOCALYSE thinking.
Yes, Americans are entitled and have been for some time, but seeing the end-results of that in hard economic times may just be the wake up call that less-affected people need, so they can start making minor changes before they're forced to make major ones. - inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3Why are you doing this? Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3Yeah.... 40 years of prosperity and societal progress. Of course people are going to be unhappy when they think of where we were in 1968!
- JessicaLF77, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3You're really sick man. Please seek help, and I mean that in the nicest, sincerest way possible.
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1I'm not going to take the time to find the law because this account of yours will be banned by then. Here's an article about a similar case.
http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2003-11-04-death ... - inactive, on 06/11/2008, -1/+2You do know that what you are doing, regardless of what your true intentions are, is a criminal act right?
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1Digg is hosted in the USA. You are effectively doing this in America.
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1Seriously... see a psychiatrist. Where are you right now? Maybe I can help you find one.
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -1/+2So, no comments about inflation raging... just complaints about the fact that people are finally unhappy with the 40 years of right wing government.
Interesting. - cquinnd, on 06/11/2008, -1/+1That's what the carry out boxes are for.
I rarely eat out now, but when I do it is with the expectation that I will be taking leftovers home.
I would be more insulted to have paid restaurant prices and not have gotten something worth at least a quick snack the next day. - card51short, on 06/11/2008, -5/+3no family should have to cook on a friday night? What is so bad about that?
I wish I could get a nice home cook meal any night...let alone fridays.
