- ogletree, on 10/11/2007, -1/+24I can't wait for the next headline "Pay Pal freezes southwest airlines account with several million in it. Southwest confused"
- dfdub, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Paypal can get a little *too* involved with your money. My first paypal transaction over $1k led to some pretty invasive phone calls.
PayPal Employee: "What exactly are you selling on eBay?"
Me: "None of your damn business."
PayPal Employee: "Thank you for your time." - robbh66, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19Unless they got on your home computer, you gave it to them.
Using a public computer, letting yourself be phished, writing it down somewhere stupid, sending it in email, etc- that's you giving it to them. - NoNom, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Abusive relationships FTW
- db0255, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16was it a jackal? it's a jackal. a jackal. it was a jackal, i know it. a jackal? jackal. it's a jackal.
- ericodom, on 10/11/2007, -7/+17Now see, THIS is why I still use PayPal. I hate the company and I've had countless problems with them, but PayPal is still so widely accepted and allows people to send me payments via e-mail.
Trash PayPal all you want. A lot of it is justified. But Paypal has made my life easier. Like it or not, it still remains fact. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9"Notification of Limited Account Access." If you use your account flying all over the world EXPECT to see this in your inbox. I HATE PAYPAL WITH A PASSION
- thejohnfloyd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Yes, and we also won't see you leave your parents basement either.
- robbob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Tried this 2 nights ago and Paypal refused to let me use my credit card option to pay for my flight. Only bank cards are acceptable (i.e. linked to your checking account). Odd, so I had to go back and enter my CC info. This feature is worthless to me.
- bizchris, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Maybe I'm just being thick, but I don't get the value-add. PayPal with eBay is good so some random Joe Schmoe on the other side of the transaction doesn't get your credit card info. The same wouldn't really apply to Southwest any more than any other well-known business, right? Was Southwest particularly untrustworthy or something?
I'm asking seriously, just trying to figure out what the excitement's about. - zadadka, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Paypal has a worthy reputation for micro-transactions...no reason why larger transactions of this nature cannot be accommodated ... though prior notification / arrangement would be prudent for all parties.
- rebble810, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Hahaha. So true. Some passenger gets all heated and goes home and files a chargeback. I would love to see that happen just for comedy's sake.
- HigherLogic, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5God I hate PayPal.
- Juaquin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Doesn't Southwest only do continental US flights, or did I miss them opening up a Hawaii service?
- Somnabot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I still prefer Google Checkout. Paypal is just one big headache (and wallet-ache).
- Skas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Remember: Proper use of the reply button is looked favorably upon.
- in2deep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1WOW this is cool....man the wonders of technology!
- robbh66, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Contrary to what? If the guy logged in using your name and password then that info was somewhere it shouldn't have been- i.e.- you gave the information to them.
The guy didn't magically know your name and password. - obeythefist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yay! Now I can pay 4% more to stand in cattle call a, b, or c for 2 hours!
- cawpin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1On the contrary, somebody logged into my paypal account about 2 years ago and I didn't give them my password. They accessed my account from China I believe. Paypal immediately locked my account and contacted me, by telephone no less. They told me what happened asked if it was me and reset my password to a temp one and I went in and changed it to something more secure. I specifically asked if my account had been hacked or if they actually logged in. The guy looked at the logs and said they logged in using my username and password.
- haggie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That should really add some style and panache to an already top-notch customer base!
- paypalblows, on 07/05/2009, -0/+0Paypalblows.org and paypal really does blow people, we recomend that you no longer shop at any websites offering the paypal payment method. Please visit our website to find out why you shouldn't use this payment service. If your account has ever been limited by PayScab then you understand where I am coming from. Please send us your payscam stories, you don't need to register on our site to make comments. Get our t-shirt at www.paypalblows.org
- diggtechie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Paypal offers two-factor authentication - https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/general/PayPalSecurityKey-outside
- jjorge3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I love Paypall
- dfdub, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Thats why you wire the $ from paypal to the bank before you ship the product. Paypal cant reach into your bank account until they conduct a thorough investigation/mediation.
- JGRandolph, on 12/02/2008, -0/+0Paypal really broke the code on this. Even when eBay tried to make their own Paypal it still couldn't be beaten. It's slowly making its way into every part of our lives. How long until you can pay your taxes with Paypal? Or can you already do that?
- hedgehawg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0wait till you can purchase flights on Craig's list and eBay
- jdzz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I don't see the point in this. What is the problem of using the credit card or check card to pay for the ticket. Paypal wont do this for free for Southwest and someone have to pay for it. Guess what, the customer will end up pick up the tab somewhere along the line.
- r00fus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Dunno, maybe some ID10T out there trusts Paypal with their CC info more than southwest.com?
Southwest probably did this to throw ebay a bone so that southwest could stop ebay sales of frequent flyer tickets :-) - coustoe, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Paypal sucks, place is rampant with fraud.
I thought i was safe as a seller, but little did I know people love committing fradulaunt chargebacks.
Example: You Sell $1,000 laptop on ebay, get paid by paypal, buyer does a chargeback agaisnt Credit Card, Paypal takes the $1,000 back out of your account and gives it to the buyer, Buyer keeps Laptop.
Crime: Grand Larceny. What does paypal do? nothing. Priceless - smurfsahoy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Hm, so does Southwest airlines count as a "super seller"?
- cawpin, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Paypal doesn't take 4% on every transaction. As long as you stay below $1000/month in transactions you don't get charged a thing. Stop spreading FUD.
- anks329, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1This is a great idea, but they should limit it to paypal users that have a security key, which gives you two factor authentication when you log onto paypal's site. Far more secure than just a user name and password
- db0255, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2i live in the upstairs bedroom. idiot.
- Fire4Effect, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2*DING* You are now free to pay using paypal...
- db0255, on 10/11/2007, -18/+1Southwest is making a bigggggggggggg mistake with this. Everybody knows that getting into technology after the dot.com bubble of the 90s is risky business. you won't see me flying a southwest plane anytime soon.
