Thanks for posting! - Tom042, on 12/23/2008, -0/+8Great to see the application of technology for the good of the people instead of hearing about a new weapons system
- DanAshcroft, on 12/22/2008, -0/+7We need to see more of this, open source goes the extra mile for this disabled...
- Chris_F, on 12/23/2008, -0/+3Now even the physically challenged can triumphantly exclaim "First".

- WoollyMittens, on 12/23/2008, -0/+3If people making web-sites would actually use these guidelines: http://www.w3.org/WAI/ It would help a LOT. Is it restrictive? No... not for me. For you? Maybe if you like smothering your content in flash and javascript.
- selfprodigy, on 12/23/2008, -1/+3Anything that gets more people using computers is a good thing.

- dumass4u, on 12/23/2008, -0/+2fantastic. Wonder how much the final product will cost. Maybe if they get enough donations they can sell it for a minimal fee, that would be fantastic
- lougoose, on 12/23/2008, -0/+1What about The Audeo? Granted, it didn't come from this group, but that thing is pretty amazing all on its own.

- Icerazer, on 12/23/2008, -0/+1First.
- Gizmodigg, on 12/25/2008, -0/+1It's amazing stuff and it makes me happy that corporations are encouraging the tech to unleash the minds that are trapped in bodies that may not respond the way that the owners want them to. Keep up the great work! Along with the infrastructure changes, the incoming Administration should encourage more funding for things like that. It would help get U.S. innovation moving again. We've got the talent, we just need the nudge to get things going again.
I am also a huge fan of the W3 format - it wouldn't cost firms a lot to make a W3 alternative site similar to a non-flash site (remember those :) ?) and help people who can't easily reach the web communicate through it. - GreatSunJester, on 12/23/2008, -0/+1Kind of old. They also have a version of their software you can install on a Symbian OS cell phone (the Nokias). It uses the built-in 4 or 5 megapix camera and xenon flash. You hold it over what you want to read, the camera takes a picture and the software recognizes the text and reads it back to you with speech synthesis. It can also recognize and report various country's currency values.
- BellaDigger, on 12/23/2008, -0/+0This is inspiring!
- hkurwa, on 12/24/2008, -0/+0Wow that's an awesome use of open source software. I can see the Bill Gates Foundation being the perfect future funder to expand this project.
- antechinus, on 12/23/2008, -3/+1Double-lick, right-lick and drool commands can achieve a lot of functionality.
- PizzaCat, on 12/23/2008, -3/+0pfft, digg has already been catering for the mentally disabled for several years now.

Do not browse the internets without wearing your helmet.
