- ironhide, on 11/10/2009, -7/+96Here come the right-wingers to defend their favorite tabloid (outside of World Nut Daily)
Wow, in the time it took me to type that, two showed up to display their ignorance. - piieerrrree, on 11/10/2009, -2/+74any legal action against the ironically-named "News" Corp is a good one in my books...
- doomestic, on 11/10/2009, -5/+71Every single issue of the NYP is an embarrassment.
- moredown, on 11/10/2009, -3/+61NY Post sounds like a REAL great place to work
/s - TrevorBelmont, on 11/10/2009, -0/+53You clearly read the headline so it seems that you're not illiterate...
- neutron7, on 11/10/2009, -2/+40belongs to "news" corp is anyone actually shocked? im not.
- Hetman, on 11/10/2009, -6/+44You are not that niave. It is the same reason showing a white person eating water melon is not racist. It is because historically racist has used the term to make blacks out to be sub human. While the GWB was in bad taste it was only pointing out that he was stupid.
- niradg, on 11/10/2009, -1/+36meanwhile, one of the other major right-wing newspapers in this country is controlled by a cult:
http://digg.com/d319e8P - treehugger87, on 11/10/2009, -6/+37This from a guy whose avatar is a depiction of a conservative executing a liberal by shooting him in the head. Consider me unsurprised that you "don't understand" the probelm with the dead chimpanzee comic.
- Elranzer, on 11/10/2009, -1/+29NY Post is just one notch below Weekly World News in credibility.
- dalittle, on 11/10/2009, -1/+28it was not a extremist conservative talking point, he was probably confused.
- zip000, on 11/10/2009, -5/+30I always seem to find things far less shocking or scandalous than the media does.
The Post sounds like a crappy place to work for a woman or a minority, and it certainly is a malodorous piece of...journalism. I don't find the allegations to be particularly shocking though. Maybe I've just been desensitized. - candre23, on 11/10/2009, -2/+27According to the article, she did complain. Unfortunately, "[N]o investigation was ever conducted and the Company failed to take any steps to address her complaints."
- jessemoya, on 11/10/2009, -2/+24The only thing I blame Murdoch for is the "trying to destroy Obama" charge. I believe that entirely.
- ironhide, on 11/10/2009, -1/+21When it's done by someone in a position of power. It's not appropriate for work.
- aptanalogy, on 11/10/2009, -2/+20Not all watermelons are racist. That's fruitist.
- treehugger87, on 11/10/2009, -3/+20And your first mistake was commenting without actually reading the article
- ApokalypseNow, on 11/10/2009, -0/+17...and perhaps one above World Net Daily.
- laserluke, on 11/10/2009, -0/+16Who cares ,the New York Post is a ***** coloring book.
- BlueDjinn, on 11/10/2009, -0/+16Agreed. The first thought that went through my mind about the revelation that the guys who head up the NY Post are sexist, racist scumbags was *not* exactly "shock".
- AgeofMastery, on 11/10/2009, -0/+15Maybe because it happened while he was president?
- joshmoney, on 11/10/2009, -2/+17"I wanna know how black people eating watermelon is racist. Watermelon is delicious."
It's not in itself. Nothing like eating watermelon should be considered racist. But unfortunately there is a history behind it, most likely due to the fact that slaves were given cheaper food like chitlins as well as watermelon. So associating black people with watermelon became sort of a "racist trademark" if you will. The hypocrisy in it though is that basically anyone who even associates a black person with watermelon will be accused of racism even if they had no idea about the contextual history. This happened recently with a soda company who put a white boy and black girl on a watermelon flavored soda. Even though they had a white kid on it too, they were automatically accused of racism. So basically the rule is, you can't show black people with watermelon or it's racist. Apparently KFC gets a pass because they frequently have commercials with black people eating fried chicken. I REALLY wish we could get past the idea that every stereotype has racist intentions and that different groups of people do enjoy different things for different reason. At this point it's really more of a cultural issue and is no more racist then suggesting white males enjoy Nascar. Intentions are what are racist, not watermelon, fried chicken, or Nascar. - ironhide, on 11/10/2009, -0/+15You're a genius, you are.
- bjs3171, on 11/10/2009, -0/+15disgusting? yes.
shocking? not really. - treehugger87, on 11/10/2009, -3/+18Nothing could be more embarrassing than that trashy, classless rag they they put out every day
- RagManX, on 11/10/2009, -3/+18"Obama didn't write the bill,"
And yet, to this day, US healthcare reform is still called Obamacare. For about 3 days after the cartoon came out, it was called "Pelosi's healthcare bill" by the conservatives I know, but after they forgot about the cartoon, they dropped the Limbaugh/Beck talking point and went back to calling it Obamacare. - mandarin, on 11/10/2009, -1/+16Do you work for News Corp?
- candre23, on 11/10/2009, -3/+17She was probably referring to her public denouncement of the (arguably) racist comment portraying the president as a dead ape. Since she claims this is what led to her firing, I'd say it's a valid statement.
- treehugger87, on 11/10/2009, -4/+18So if you're a guy, and I'm your homosexual male employer and I refer to you as "Stud" and "Adonis", you're okay with that? Yeah, I didn't think so.
- holychicken, on 11/10/2009, -0/+14Is there anyone here who knows anything about the NY Post who would be shocked if these allegations are true?
I didn't think so. - NYConcepts, on 11/10/2009, -0/+12Did anyone else find it ironic that there was a Blackberry ad in the middle of the article?
- RagManX, on 11/10/2009, -2/+14"According to the article, she did complain."
We can't expect people to read the fine article before making their comments, can we? :) - 0tis, on 11/10/2009, -1/+12Now read the bit where she says someone did say "Blow me for a promotion".
- jessemoya, on 11/10/2009, -4/+15You didn't read the article, did you? It was a problem all along, but now she's suing for it.
- MWeather, on 11/10/2009, -1/+11That hurts coming from a racist.
- MWeather, on 11/10/2009, -3/+11"1. Obama didn't write the bill, while the comic was referring to the chimpanzee being the bill's author."
So the Post doesn't imply that Obama is the author of what they in their own words call "Obamacare"?
Careful what you say people, I think this one might be genuinely retarded. You don't want to hurt the poor guy's feelings, he's probably had a tough life. - WhiskeyLemur, on 11/10/2009, -0/+8NY Post is a tabloid, and sadly tabloids will *always* have an audience.
- Gonthim, on 11/11/2009, -0/+8There's an amazing thing about pedobear. He's not real. Were you aware of that?
- diggduggDOOM, on 11/10/2009, -2/+9These things can develop in different ways, and sometimes over years.
She could have been lodging formal, internal complaints for years, realized she wasn't getting a response, was fired (possibly as a result of the complaints she filed), and then took legal action.
/I don't know the facts, and haven't even read the article - firesphotons, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7The problems facing this world are the ubiquitous workplaces and practices this metaphor describes, business ethics have perished.
- WhiskeyLemur, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7If you don't mind, then fine - bully for you. If you did mind, however, you would be well within your rights to consider it sexual harassment - and, I might add, that sort of stuff is unprofessional in the extreme and has no business in a workplace regardless of whether you personally mind it or not.
- KingDrewsky, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7Aw man, I can't wait to find out how J. Jonah Jameson is going to get out of this one.
- Hetman, on 11/10/2009, -4/+11I do not know if you are just acting niave or you really do not see the problem. I am confused.
- FeloniusMonkey, on 11/10/2009, -3/+10The NY Post is what Guantanimo inmates use to wipe their asses... that is, whenever a printed copy of the Patriot Act is not readily available.
- RockCosmos, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7Rupert's vanity company....poor little Rupie
Proof again that the old Aussie media stealing neo-con thinks we re stupid and will find some way to blame it all on either the "liberal media" or a democrat - neutron7, on 11/10/2009, -1/+7What an insult to rats! where is my rat..um i mean lawyer!
- TheCash, on 11/10/2009, -5/+11Because *****-canned employees are always the best place to get a good feel for what the workplace is like, right?
That's like expecting a fair evaluation from an ex. - CrazedLeper, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6It's a self-solving problem. Soon, they won't able to sell a newspaper to their own mothers. I suspect that even the bottoms of bird cages may be going online.
- jeffwmartin, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6All watermelons are red on the inside.
