- s35wf, on 10/01/2008, -10/+178Ron Paul should have been the republican nominee :(
- cyberyan00, on 09/30/2008, -8/+175Here's the main reason I like Ron Paul. He talks about the matter at hand and gives a very well defined answer. Whether you agree with him or not.....he says what he believes is true. He will never word something the wrong way to try to trick you. He will never avoid the subject. It's so refreshing to just have straight answers from someone in our government.
- patriotfilms, on 09/30/2008, -6/+130From C4L - (One clarification that needs to be added is that ronpaulforpresident2008.com is a supporter site and not officially affiliated with Ron Paul or the Campaign for Liberty. The quote attributed to Dr. Paul by CNN was actually a quote by Lew Rockwell on his blog.)
- jewelswoolf, on 10/01/2008, -7/+90I was horrified by this "interview" -- incredibly lame. Reminds me of why I started tuning out old media a long time ago.
Sanchez not only displayed a complete lack of journalistic integrity, but he proved that he has a lot to learn about New Media. OH WOW, Rick, you include questions via Twitter and MySpace reports in your broadcast ("Oooo, see me make news about the Internets"), but then you go and quote an UNofficial site of Ron Paul's that is simply displaying RSS newsfeeds from other blogs? You attempt to attribute another person's (Lew Rockwell in this case) remarks as being Ron Paul's own sentiments?? You ask him to explain remarks made by one of his supporters on a site that he doesn't even manage?
Rick Sanchez: you are foolish.
Ron Paul: you ROCK - EnterReality, on 09/30/2008, -9/+78Ron Paul fights for your freedom and who doesn't like freedom?
- ugmold, on 10/01/2008, -10/+58Ron Paul is the best choice for President
- velocity92c, on 10/01/2008, -9/+49Ron Paul is awesome, but if we can't have him, please don't let it be McCain.
- Meekus, on 10/01/2008, -1/+40The "RP" quote was actually a quote from Lew Rockwell. CNN - check your facts first.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -2/+37News Anchors are so annoying, 90% of the time their words and actions are grossly superficial, even in dire times.
I'm also pissed that either McCain or Obama will be in office. Talk about getting the ***** end of the stick.
Ron Paul FTW!
On a lighter note: "titties". - uptwolait, on 10/01/2008, -0/+29"Here's the main reason I like Ron Paul. He talks about the matter at hand and gives a very well defined answer. Whether you agree with him or not.....he says what he believes is true."
And THAT, unfortunately, is why the ignorant and spoiled American majority will NEVER elect him. - audomatix, on 10/01/2008, -2/+29The Man is clearly intelligent and has proven he knows what's going on. He has the ability to repair the financial system and he was denied. At least he is still fighting for us.
- UselessTrivia, on 10/01/2008, -0/+23Well..technically he wouldn't GIVE you one...that would be a handout and Ron Paul doesn't do handouts.
He would, however, support your freedom to buy a go kart. - AbsurdParadox, on 10/01/2008, -2/+23I've had numerous people tell me "You were right... I should have voted for him..."
- Archos, on 10/01/2008, -0/+19They just can't identify with Paul's honesty.
"It is discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit"
- Noel Coward (he didn't deserve this name)
"Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?'
Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?'
Vanity asks the question, 'Is it popular?'
But, conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?'
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one's conscience tells one that it is right."
- Martin Luther King Jr. - bullhead2007, on 10/01/2008, -1/+20Gee you'd think that a "credible" news source like CNN would do some fact checking..
- XxtraLarGe, on 10/01/2008, -3/+21Unfortunately, most Americans :(
- oldhick, on 10/01/2008, -1/+19I always enjoy listening to Ron Paul and reading his works and would gladly vote for him, but this clip doesn't seem especially important to me. They quote from the wrong web site and don't really give Paul and opportunity to outline his plans... Cheers to Ron Paul, not so much this clip.
- casek, on 10/01/2008, -2/+19because now people realize he's not such a kook, too bad, his supporters have known this for a long time.
- whahaa, on 10/01/2008, -3/+19mccain vs obama = choosing the lesser of two evils.
paul vs nader = choosing the better of two goods.
hopefully i'll get to participate in a real democratic election within my lifetime. - ATLien74, on 10/01/2008, -1/+16Ron Paul is the REAL straight talk express.
- tajitj, on 10/01/2008, -1/+16Paul was on CNN again this morning with a good host John Roberts. First thing he said was "I was looking at your site campaignforliberty" so I think they got the message.
- whoreable, on 10/01/2008, -3/+18Rick Sanchez killed someone while driving drunk. How he is still on TV, one can only wonder.
- harshfart, on 10/01/2008, -1/+15Why does he get so much more mainstream press now? He has been promoting the same right ideas since the beginning...
- whahaa, on 10/01/2008, -2/+16which is why they'd run against each other. a real election should be between two differing candidates, not two similar candidates. and just because they're so different doesn't mean i can't acknowledge and respect that they both play politics the right way.
- CannedMango, on 10/01/2008, -1/+15Not to mention that he debunked members of his own party who were clamoring that Nancy Pelosi insulted them and forced them to vote against the bill.
- wafflesomd, on 10/01/2008, -0/+13"You're president is a republican, and you are a republican, but you are against this bailout."
God damnit, can we just stop looking at the party. - blorc, on 10/01/2008, -0/+12Do not be fooled. This was not an issue of "fact checking." This was a blatant attempt to falsely attribute a quote to Ron Paul, which I suppose is intended to somehow slander him (the truth must be slanderous in CNN's eyes).
http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/023 ...
They very clearly omitted the final sentence of the quote, which says "Oh, and by the way, congratulations, Ron Paul."
By omitting that sentence, it's painfully clear that this was intentional. Had the sentence been included, it would have been obvious that the quote was not made by Ron nor taken from his website.
***** CNN.
Three cheers for Ron Paul and LewRockwell.com, true champions of liberty. - jonronpaulie, on 10/01/2008, -3/+15I don't care what anybody says, but Ron Paul is MY President!
- theOster, on 10/01/2008, -0/+12yeah i heard that and was really amazed that 1. the reporter didnt have the url on hand and 2. no checking.
- kotrin, on 10/01/2008, -1/+12because the nominees are already set... people knew he wasn't crazy. he just does not have deep pockets like mccain or any big companies backing him, or even the current administration backing him. he only has the people backing him, and people don't mean ***** in this "democracy"
- Kenzan, on 10/01/2008, -1/+12The problem is, Ron Paul may have all the answers, but no one seems to be listening.
That sucks big time. - ElectricC0wb0y, on 10/01/2008, -0/+11Yesterday they quoted him from his supposed presidential campaign website "ronpaulforpresident2008.com" which is totally unrelated to any Ron Paul campaign. Way to go CNN! Tomorrow they will be fact checking on Wikipedia...
- ColorBlind, on 10/01/2008, -3/+14Can I still get a RP bumper sticker? I want the world to know I wasn't braindead in 08.
- AbsurdParadox, on 10/01/2008, -2/+13It is unfortunate times we live in, when being anti-tax is radical.
- XxtraLarGe, on 10/01/2008, -3/+13Any publicity is good publicity. They should have a retraction on today's show though about the misquote.
- CarStan, on 10/01/2008, -4/+14I like how the Dow is going rapidly up the whole time he is talking
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+10I'd rather waste it than vote for McCain or Obama.
- wopas69, on 10/01/2008, -2/+12Ron Paul would be the best presidential Candidate!!! RON PAUL '08 it is just sad that he won't because too much of america are scared of change. I like to remind those people this is america we were born from change the constitution is not set in stone because, the our founding fathers could have never foreseen the advance of technology and advance of education. Ron Paul please run for president every year until we get in america needs a leader who understand what the people want and what our founding father would be proud of.
- prrp, on 10/01/2008, -3/+13Dear JSavage37,
Thanks for your comment. What we have here is a conflict of economic fundamentals, not educated vs. uneducated. Austrian Economics is a school of thought, though it is not typically taught in the school system (the same one that educated you). Ron Paul has taken the time out of his life to study a lot more economics than any other political candidate I've ever heard. We're not arguing with you that there has been real growth under out Keynesian system, we're not arguing with you that we follow a somewhat manageable boom-bust cycle. We're arguing that there is a BETTER system out there.
You've basically told us that we are close minded Paul-followers and that our economic principles are elementary and blind. You're telling us to open our minds and actually listen to the other side of the argument. As far as I myself am concerned, you're right. I need to be more educated on BOTH sides! There are always things I come across that I don't fully understand about Austrian AND Keynesian economics, but I stretch myself, I learn, and I grow.
To be honest, it seems like you yourself are guilty of this close mindedness! Have you ever researched Austrian economics past a single biased article or a wikipedia page? Have you tried to educate yourself through mises.org? Have you looked into what created the bubble that caused the Great Depression? How about the origins, principles, and practices of the Federal Reserve? Do you know what the founding fathers said about banks like the Federal Reserve?
Your annoyed friend,
prrp - stoperror, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9If you will take notice of previous comments, you will see that Ron Paul was not the person who was quoted. The quote was not pulled from Paul's official site.
Even with that in mind, I fail to see how his response could be interpreted as backpedaling. - etx313, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9Just like this. Did you watch the video? It's more of the same smear campaign and making up lies. They quoted him as saying something that he didn't say to make him deny it and look like a flip flopper.
- stoperror, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9Ever seen the movie 'Idiocracy?'
- Ljay90, on 10/01/2008, -2/+11How did he lose to McCain again?
- yetAnotherCroc, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8Absolutely, He would in fact make it illegal to interfere with your right to paint flames on it.
- geoboy, on 10/01/2008, -1/+9Did you even watch this CNN interview? They still try to paint him as a kook.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -2/+10There are EVIL powerful people behind the scenes.
- nalen33, on 10/01/2008, -0/+7I do not think he debunked the members of his own party, they still may have heard the speech and truly changed their mind based off that. Until we ask each person that question we don't truly know. I believe he was stating what we all know, the Republicans who said that Pelosi's partisan speech changed their minds were never going to vote for the bill in the first place, and saying that her speech was the reason was just stupid.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -1/+8I'm writing him in, those other 2 are just horrible, horrible choices.
- steelclash84, on 10/01/2008, -0/+7He's not registered as a write-in candidate in many many states. I would check your state's rules on write-ins, otherwise you are wasting your vote.
