- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -3/+137What a great voice of reason, I wish more politicians would take on Paul's approach to government and the economy. When did he start writing commentary on CNN.com?
- rocke86, on 11/12/2008, -2/+101The GOP MUST unite with it's libertarian roots or be doomed to be a placeholder of emulated democracy running on top of socialism.
- Johnsojr, on 11/12/2008, -3/+102Glad to see he's getting some love from CNN. Whatever it takes to get the message out!
- docliberty, on 11/12/2008, -3/+89How friendly of them now that the race is over. Oh well, good to see the exposure to such a principled individual.
- DannyTMurphy, on 11/12/2008, -2/+82Ron Paul is the first person in politics that I can actually look up to. Honesty in politics is just unheard of these days, there is always a twist on words, but never from Ron.
- bryanxt, on 11/12/2008, -4/+83Dr. Paul is dead on, visit: http://www.CampaignForLiberty.com
- Dary, on 11/12/2008, -2/+80If anyone has taken us backwards, it’s the current republican administration and leadership.
Ron Paul would take us forward again.
Freedom is quite new relatively speaking. Tyranny is old.
The first thing the party needs to do is listen. But I'm not holding my breath. What with Michael Steele and Jim Greer being banded about as the next RNC Chairman, it's going to be a long dry spell before anything ever changes for Republicans. - mediaspree, on 11/12/2008, -0/+68 • Limited government power
• A balanced budget
• Personal liberty
• Strict adherence to the Constitution
• Sound money
• A strong defense while avoiding all undeclared wars
• No nation-building and no policing the world
And Palin wants to be "the leader" of the republican party .ha. - kokoBware, on 11/12/2008, -3/+63If the GOP didn't have Ron Paul they would cease to matter. He's the only true conservative they have. If they don't listen now it will be their final bad decision.
- gardengrocer, on 11/12/2008, -2/+62It is time to listen to Ron Paul.
- FindLiberty, on 11/12/2008, -3/+60It's nice to see that there was (is still?) hope for America. Unfortunately the majority still seek a dictator to rule the empire as history repeats it’s self.
- chrism123, on 11/12/2008, -2/+56This commentary won't go over well w/ anyone who is expecting Obama to take care of them and make everything in the world perfect again, but Ron Paul speaks the truth and reflects what made this country great. He brings to the table real solutions, not just emotional buzzwords that don't accurately reflect policy.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -5/+51It's pretty simple, if you want to elect people who will run the government the way the Republicans said they would in '94 you have to elect Libertarians.
The Libertarian Party http://www.lp.org is a principled group of people who believe that we are endowed by our Creator with rights and that popularity does not trump those rights.
We have seen the GOP go from a powerful party in '94 to a miserable failure in '08 because of the stupidity of the old guard Republicans who thought McCain would have coattails when in fact he was an anchor around the neck of anyone he campaigned for.
The GOP lost; the White House, seats in the House of Representatives, and seats in the Senate.
Anyone who thinks that's how it should be and that the GOP doesn't need fixing should be examined by a psychiatrist! - NorthMass, on 11/12/2008, -4/+47Before anyone comes in and blasts Ron Paul for believing in Creationism, which happens in almost every article on Digg that has to do with Ron Paul.
* It his personal belief, and what is wrong with believing in Creationism? Anyone who mocks and talks down of Creationists are just as bad as people who mock and talk down of people who believe in evolution.
* He doesn't want to legislate morality, he wants to leave it up to the states. This is his viewpoint on pratically everything btw.
* He is by far the most brilliant, and honest Congressman we have today, and he should be our President. If anyone criticizes him for persoanlly beliving in Creationism and call him an idiot for believing in it, I'd like to see if you predicted the housing bubble in 2003, I'd like to see if you predicted the Russia/Georgia war in 2002, and I'd like to see you predicted the 1987 recession in 1983. During the debates last year Ron Paul was the only guy who was warning of economic doom, and everyone laughed at him. He was right, and everyone else was wrong. So if anyone still thinks he is an idiot for beliving in Creationism, then I guess idiots are pretty brilliant.=) - itsmesunny, on 11/12/2008, -2/+43it's quite simple - they don't get any better than ron - he is a statesman!
god bless this magnificient man!
RON PAUL IS MY PRESIDENT! - crapuccino, on 11/12/2008, -1/+41When they finally figured out he wasn't the crazy old coot that they thought he was.
- JKap, on 11/12/2008, -3/+41With all due respect, Dr. Paul, the real question is why are Americans on the Obama-crack?
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -0/+37When they discovered that he was correct in all of his predictions regarding the economy and their pseudo-economists were wrong.
They all sang the chorus "there's nothing wrong with the economy the situations is stable, don't you see?" until the predicted and predictable economic contraction began becoming apparent. They either stuck with the losers they had before or seek someone with economic expertise who can and does speak with authority on economic issues.
Nobody can doubt his accuracy and expertise and it is a good thing CNN has finally listened to reason. - locnguyen, on 11/12/2008, -3/+39Ron Paul should be leading the Republican party. Instead, I fear Sarah Palin will.
- kihjin, on 11/12/2008, -2/+37Limited government is destructive? Personal responsibility, sound money, spending within our means? These are positive elements of a free society, not destructive. Ron Paul is right; don't kill the messenger.
I like how you said "if" the party needs fixed. Are you honestly content with perpetual war, unconstitutional usurpation of our freedoms (e.g. Patriot Act) and overreaching government control (Military Commission Act, FISA)? - odigity, on 11/12/2008, -1/+32This is for all you Dems that think libertarians don't care about the poor:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySOgWb9PI-k - sheeplescareme, on 11/12/2008, -6/+36that's my president. the rest of you can call o'commie yours, but that guy is mine.
- mport1, on 11/12/2008, -0/+28It is great Ron is finally getting the attention he deserves.
- Firemeboy, on 11/12/2008, -1/+29"It mattered not that the change offered was no change at all, only a change in the engineer of a runaway train."
Well said. - UKLooney, on 11/12/2008, -1/+28The world needs to listen to grassroot politicians, not career politicians. Who would you trust? Someone whose goal in politics is to further their own career, or someone whose goal is to do what is right?
- jaysteelehcid, on 11/12/2008, -1/+26Throughout his career, Ron Paul has not allowed himself to be distracted by all of the power, money and greed that position and authority tempt with. He has consistently remained anchored to the Constitution of the United States - a document that was drafted from the hearts and minds of average Americans that placed a high value on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and took extraordinary steps to achieve that.
As a result of his consistency, Ron Paul has been able to clearly and concisely identify the issues that are eroding these values in America and offer real, tangible solutions to reduce these threats. Unfortunately for all of us, it seems that no one ever remembers that they were warned by Dr. Paul, even after the disastrous results he predicted come to pass. The Republican Party was given ample opportunity to turn from their wicked ways.
The fact that Republican leaders are so shocked and amazed makes me laugh. Vanity is a dangerous partner. Right now there is virtually no difference at the national level between the two parties. If any party is going to lead this country out of the mess we are now in, I think the Republican Party has the best chance. However, I am much less concerned with the name of the party than I am with whether or not we still have time to pull out of this tailspin we are now in.
I have many friends that are absolutely giddy with excitement about Obama being the President-Elect. On some fronts, I share their enthusiasm. However, if anyone honestly believes that the change Obama promises will point our country back in the right direction, I am afraid they are going to be sorely disappointed. In order to fix problems, it is absolutely vital to clearly and accurately define the problem first and then to be able to determine viable solutions to the problem. I think that most of the political, corporate and institutional leaders in Washington and throughout the country are not willing to even consider what the real problems are because they are more interested in preserving their power, prestige and authority and they are willing to do whatever it takes to maintain their position regardless of the future consequences. It is short-term, distorted and selfish. Ron Paul is a leader that is the antithesis of the typical politician and I only hope that more and more Americans will wake up and realize that we need to start asking the right questions if have any hope of finding lasting solutions.
Thank you, Dr. Paul, for your unwavering commitment to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans. - RobertTaft, on 11/12/2008, -1/+26Leave it to Dr. Paul to tell it like it is. We can only hope that enough people are listening to him now to bring about the change in course that we so desperately need as a nation. The Republican Party can be a great vehicle for this course correction if it will listen to the voice of reason.
Ron Paul is my president!
Long live the republic! - NorthMass, on 11/12/2008, -9/+33Ron Paul/Dennis Kucinich 2012
- NorthMass, on 11/12/2008, -7/+30"He is destructive in nature, very negative on almost everything ! "
He is the most positive person I have ever seen. He is always talking about solutions to fixing our problems, and how they would work and how he thinks it is wonderful how people have come together during his campaign. Obviously he is negative when he talks about our current situation, because we are in two idiotic wars and we are about to go bankrupt. What positive spin can you place on that unless you are a lier? - inactive, on 11/12/2008, -2/+24Which makes the Libertarians the only real opportunity to change the way things are. Unless you like going backward, the GOP is no place to be.
- FindLiberty, on 11/12/2008, -1/+22Yes, on December 15th, Ron Paul could still become our next POTUS if the electoral college "faithlessly" does the right thing...
- kemp34, on 11/12/2008, -1/+22It's really VERY SIMPLE when you lay it out in a few bullet points.
- laminac, on 11/12/2008, -0/+21I find it interesting that he believes obama will take this country from bad to worse, I'm not an obama supporter, but I hope this is one prediction he gets wrong... even though he has a tendency to be correct.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -9/+30May the Living God, PROVOKE the electoral college.
- mcsenget, on 11/12/2008, -0/+20Don't just rely on the "big L" Libertarians.
Ron Paul is proof that a label doesn't prove anything about you.
He is a libertarian but a Republican at the same time.
Bob Barr is a Libertarian but not much of a libertarian. - silentboom, on 11/12/2008, -1/+21Ron Paul! "The most honest man in Washington" - John McCain quote from years ago.
- radiofriendly, on 11/12/2008, -1/+20This guy has started something BIG. It's great what they are doing with CampaignforLiberty(dot)com
- dartmanx, on 11/12/2008, -0/+18Because CNN's chosen candidate has won, the election cycle is over, and there isn't as much news because of my second point.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+19The Libertarian Party has fielded thousands of candidates and received millions of votes and has nationwide ballot access and unlike the GOP, the Libertarian Party is moving forward all the time. The GOP had their chance and they blew it and they are going downhill like a snowball headed for hell.
Anyone who can't see that deserves to go down with the GOP.
Go to http://www.lp.org/ and see what you can find. If you don't agree that it is the party for the furture of liberty and you think the GOP is better, at least do so with an informed choice.
Anarchists? The Constitution, freedom and liberty, and a smaller federal government is anarchy?
Only to small minded bigots, haters, lamers, and political cowards.
From the website;
"The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. Our vision is for a world in which all individuals can freely exercise the natural right of sole dominion over their own lives, liberty and property by building a political party that elects Libertarians to public office, and moving public policy in a libertarian direction."

Washington D.C. 20037 - inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+19I don't know, but I love it! Big thanks to CNN for showing the good doctor some well deserved respect.
- fbliss, on 11/12/2008, -1/+18The point is Ron Paul understands the economy much better than most of the politicians out there. If you think he's not useful to help bring about a solution just because he laid it out without the use magical fun-words that give you a warm and fuzzy feeling, then you're not truly interested in a solution. It IS that bad, don't you see that?
- Thinbev, on 11/12/2008, -7/+24He doesn't use fluffy words or empty political rhetoric like the rest of them, which is probably why you think he's "negative".
You obviously haven't taken the time to read his books or watch his speeches on YouTube...
Ironically, he's the only person in Washington that gives common sense solutions to the real problems we face. - Pssdoff, on 11/12/2008, -1/+17But Obama is going to buy me gas and pay my mortgage...
/s - mcsenget, on 11/12/2008, -0/+16Any money donated to Ron Paul's campaign went to either his presidential CAMPAIGN or to the CAMPAIGN For Liberty.
The goals of both campaigns are the same, so it doesn't matter where your money is spent, it's working for the same thing. - wtfersk8s, on 11/12/2008, -1/+17nearly 400 digs in 5 hours and not front page? wtf.....
- RandoTheKing, on 11/12/2008, -1/+17Don't look at me.. I voted for him.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -2/+18No, he didn't. You gave your money away and didn't ask for anything in return. If you actually donated, which I seriously doubt, you have no expectation of control and nobody stole anything from you.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -4/+20Thinbev- don't take what nolibertarians says as anything more than the lunatic ranting of an obsessive compulsive schizophrenic whose 4 previous digg accounts have been closed by digg because of his disrespect for the terms of use.
Each time he gets banned he comes back with the same rantings as he did under his previous nicknames. Not once has he made sense. -
