- agentsrecord, on 03/25/2009, -3/+29It's sad when we need a list on how 'not to get *****' by the people we do business with.
- techguru2006, on 03/25/2009, -2/+20Oh wow, Zappos has a one year return policy -- need to start shopping there more often.

- smindsrt, on 03/25/2009, -1/+12A good return policy is a great sign of customer trust that a company is doing something right!
- barcelona10, on 03/25/2009, -1/+12Zappos is the king of customer service, it isn't surprising to see why after looking at this chart.
- billricardi, on 03/25/2009, -2/+12Zappos, as usual, scores very high marks. Sometimes excellent customer service pays off, and the nice guys finish first. Not often mind you, but thank god for Zappos.
- CryoNine, on 03/26/2009, -0/+10I've been shopping at Zappos for years... probably the best online shopping experience I've ever had. Half the time they upgrade your shipping to overnight for free.

I know tinypic is kind of ***** now, so someone who knows a good site go ahead and mirror it. - haydesigner, on 03/26/2009, -0/+6and..... post '08?
- idc5, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6Costco's return policies have changed recently due to abuse.
- jggube, on 03/25/2009, -2/+8This is what I think of when I say effective and beautiful infographics. The information structure is very easy to follow and see, yet it's visually appealing - to boot, it's very helpful.
- tmyprod, on 03/26/2009, -0/+6REI Should be mentioned.
Lifetime guarantee on products purchased new, no exceptions. You can return a pair of shoes your dad got back in 1978 for a comparable replacement or whatever was paid for them, no receipt needed, no restocking fee, don't know about sale/price matching though. - sh4rkb1t3, on 03/26/2009, -0/+6237 and down.
Mirror? - etaubeneck, on 03/25/2009, -4/+9actually apple does apply a restocking fee to ipods and computers
and why isn't costco included? best return policy ever - etaubeneck, on 03/25/2009, -0/+5Only with respect electronics, but still is liberal with respect to other electronics retailers
- ddogfilm, on 03/25/2009, -3/+7wish i saw it earlier before i spent so much money today
- Warll, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4ORLY? Wal-mart has four out of six check marks.
- bkraj, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4I've bought my last 4-5 pairs of shoes at zappos and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I've even done a lot of returns due to sizing/style/whatever, and never had any sort of issue. They've made a lifelong customer out of me, and the mall ***** sucks--who wants to buy shoes there anyways.
- rydawg09, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4Thanks
- stealthspc, on 03/26/2009, -1/+5You sir win 1 free internets.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4Digg: Protect Your Servers (Infographic)
- cogitocogito, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3Yes, and free return shipping. But most of their prices are full-on retail (think Bloomingdale's not on sale).
- yacks, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3You forgot the part where you also get to register for THE Special List.
- Warll, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3Wal-Mart is not on that list, why?
- DirtyVicar, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3I have shown wood at Home Depot and gotten a free ride across town and three free meals for a week.
- MeredithTesla, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3I assume you would if you don't provide them your phone number at check-out.
- SuperCow1127, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3Humanity is and always has been sad. What's not sad is that now there's a list.
- roseman5285, on 03/26/2009, -1/+3your mirror has shattered....you have 7 years of bad luck...
- Warll, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2His mirror was Google....
- Chalks777, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Here ya go:
http://www.filedropper.com/second/ed42c72c9ec3c424 ...
I love filedropper. <3 - rydawg09, on 03/26/2009, -1/+2I don't think it works...
- MKEmodz, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1You guys do know that best buy will price match a local competitor (30 mile radius)... buried for inaccuracy.
- Smiley09, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1The Zappos before 08' was the pinnacle of online shopping. They would have everything listed, plus they would surprise you with overnight shipping, and they had a 110% price match on competitors, that was unlimited until they ran out of stock.
It was ridiculously awesome. - lisaawesome, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1WalMart has one of the most generous return policies of any store I've ever been to and/or worked at. Even if what you're trying to do is against their policies if you bitch they will do it. It's the only place I've ever seen take an opened CD back. They used to even have a 200% guarantee on produce and meats until shadier customers would purposefully spoil food they just bought in order to get double their money back.
- srfrogger, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1Actually, @ Lowes you do not need a receipt so don't necessarily believe the chart.
- harvinator24, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1woops, apple.
- lisaawesome, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1It's been a couple years since I worked there but if things haven't changed they will only offer you store credit or an exchange if you don't have a receipt and they cannot find you in their records. If you paid with a credit card or a check or gave them your phone number they can look your receipt up.
- matt.rubin, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1they don't know anything about electronics so they can't check them :)
- cathpah, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1yup, you don't need a receipt at lowe's within 90 days as long as you used a credit or debit card either.
- Ymeg, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1Then it's you fault for shopping there.
- HardJeans, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1ummm....it seems you are talking about a specific retailer - only you didn't mention which one. This is why you are being buried.
- Ymeg, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1You are not being ***** if you agree to shop at their place of business.
- fivenodes, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1One of my favorite reasons for shopping Nordstrom. Good product, price matching, industry best customer service and no questions asked on returns. Superb!
- MKEmodz, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Best buy also only has restocking fees on laptops (only), camera's/camcorders, and car audio equipment (including gps's). Similar to apples, radioshack, and crutcfield. They also do cover the return shipping, with the option to return in the store.
And as far as newegg dominating? how...Newegg wont price match a competitor. If the item goes on sale even the next day, they will not give you the difference back. There return policy goes from zero to 30 days, depending on the product and it's the worst with the products you probably buy. obviously you have a receipt if you bought it from them...so they dont have a check for that one either. They do have restocking fee's on most their products. worse than best buy's. They do not cover return shipping and they dont have a trade in program. Doesnt sound like they are above everyone else. Why do we buy from them. because they usually have the biggest selection, and is cheaper than everyone else. their policies are worse than buying from bestbuy/radioshack/whatever is local... - decoy26517, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1yeah, a lot of what is on this list is not accurate. Like Home Depot having a "none" in the return period, the official return policy is 90 days, the unofficial policy is unlimited if you complain enough.
Also for a lot of those stores you do not need a receipt if you paid with a credit/debit card/check for your return. Again this list doesn't state that.
Buried for being inaccurate. - cathpah, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1ahem....LL Beans is the best. no matter how many years, you can still return it, even if it's not LL Bean brand.
- fivenodes, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1One of the main reasons why I love Nordstrom... High quality products, price matching, great customer service and never a hassle or question on returns. Just great.
- matt.rubin, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1if newegg was on the charts it would dominate
same thing with frys electronics. I took a power supply that was too small for a build to frys and told them "i did not buy this here it works it doesn't have a power cable but it works fine" they took one of their power cables threw it in the box gave me store credit and took 6 bucks off the price for the cable. Awesome! -
