- joshstone100, on 10/03/2008, -8/+148Wow. Sherman is brave to stand up to this and speak out. No wonder they're all scared. He is to be commended.
The question is: who specifically told him there will be Martial Law if the bill is not passed? This sounds more like a threat than anything. - MooseOfReason, on 10/03/2008, -18/+117I wonder who told him that. Pelosi?
But she's all sweet and nice. It must be those crooked Bush admins she's always blaming for our problems. The guys she stopped from being impeac...
HEY WAIT A MINUTE! If they're causing all our problems... why'd she say impeachment is off the table? Wouldn't that FIX our problems? Or is she just trying to keep them there so she has someone to blame when she screws up?
Someone explain this to me. - JKap, on 10/03/2008, -3/+75"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." -John Fitzgerald Kennedy
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -4/+70An impeachment investigation would lead to her indictment. Her hands are FAR from clean.
- wariscrime, on 10/03/2008, -31/+94Here is what my old friend Janet Swerdlow (www.expansions.com) has to say about this "Martial Law":
"Many of you have been sending in concerned questions about Rep. Michael Burgess of Texas saying that Martial Law has been declared.
This is NOT the "martial law" where soldiers come out and shoot people and all freedoms are removed--which they have been anyway.
This is an internal Congressional event where the rules and procedures of Congress are suspended so that a bill can be passed quickly. They were working on that ridiculous bail out from Bush which thankfully failed so far.
So, don't get your knickers in a snit. This pertains to Congress only--at the moment."

Spread the word!! :)) - rexblade, on 10/03/2008, -4/+52Exactly shes a phony 2 faced fraud. She complains about the economic policies of the suddenly evil Bush administration., (just a guess here) she probably profited from immensely. I bet she still wont support impeachment.
- idiggmacs, on 10/03/2008, -5/+50He said martial law in AMERICA, not just Congress. These guys are being threatened, strong armed to do something that SOMEONE wants to do. This is supposed to be a democracy. Congress, prove to us that we're still a democracy. Cuz that's what this is. A test of democracy. Voting yes for this bill puts a nail in the democracy coffin.
- vtnerd, on 10/03/2008, -3/+48If martial law comes to pass, you'll be thankful for the 2nd Amendment's existence.
- Herostratus, on 10/03/2008, -4/+45Let em go ahead and try and enact Martial Law... see how long that ***** lasts.
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -4/+41Yes. Who made this statement? Whoever it is should be identified and forced to testify in public before the Congress. What is going on behind the doors in Congress? This conspiracy to declare Martial Law needs to be uncovered and the people behind it need to be jailed!
Start by IMPEACHING BUSH! - Notasheeple, on 10/03/2008, -4/+41B...b...b.....but herkimer56 said that martial law was a term made up by conspiracy theorists..........

- WiretapStudios, on 10/03/2008, -1/+29I have never in my life owned a gun, and I am buying one this weekend. My brother just bought his first one, and my girlfriend is buying one. My brother and I are Buddhists. There has been a lot of sketchy stuff lately that has introduced a mild paranoia among myself and everyone I know, including family, friends, and people I work with. I can't put a finger on it, but I just have a really weird feeling. Maybe that will change with different leadership, but the last 8 years have shown me that nothing is safe or sacred, and anyone in power for any reason can change the rules to suit their agenda.
- LenBaird, on 10/03/2008, -5/+30Yes. That was congressional martial law. This guy is talking about real martial law, with soldiers standing around with m-16's making sure we don't revolt.
- davebg8r, on 10/03/2008, -2/+27As defined under the Patriot Act, what the President, Paulson, Reid and Pelosi are doing is considered financial terrorism. Are they any lawyers that have enough stones to bring charges?
- inactive, on 10/03/2008, -9/+33The only fear mongering I'll have any part in or give into is the fear we can dish out after we have killed their mercenaries and thugs. THEN we can chase the sorry bastards to the ends of the earth, giving them the option of surrendering to be executed or having our hands close like vices around their necks before we snap them like twigs!!! Then they will know the meaning of the word "terror"!!!
- AbdullahAbuDawu, on 10/03/2008, -2/+26I knew I bought a gun for something.
- ManOfVirtues, on 10/03/2008, -6/+30My wife and I made the hardest decision I think we have ever had to make in our adult lives. We are leaving. Leaving Omaha, Leaving Nebraska, and Leaving this country that I love. If you asked me 5 years ago I would of said hell yea, i will stay and fight this out. Today i have a two month old daughter and a beautiful wife who both depend on me. I don't recognize this place anymore and now I cant afford to be here when it all goes up in flames. For those of you staying I say godspeed and good luck.
- raskali, on 10/03/2008, -0/+24What the powers-that-be always fail to understand is that the people actually do hold all the power even though they rarely choose to use it. All it takes is one event that acts as a rallying point.

Let me ask you honestly, if you feel better about this Bailout bill than you did on Monday? The reason I ask is because your Congress men and women seem to think you have given up. They are prepared to pass this legislation today that now totals over 850 billion dollars. They think you don’t care. The ones who voted no have had the deal sufficiently sweetened to their taste.
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri spokesman Danny Rotert, declared, "America feels differently today than it did on Monday about this bill."
Is that how you feel?
No? Then send them a message! Here’s a list of the representatives and how they voted last time.

Do not give up! We lost the FISA vote because we gave in after they waited us out. All of Washington D.C.’s worst have been spreading lies and misinformation on what will happen to the economy if we don’t act. They are trying to terrorize us into capitulating, saying that credit is drying up for everyone all over the country. (Funny, I got 5 credit card applications in the mail yesterday)
The government isn’t the only one to blame for this crisis. There are a lot of special interests that stand to gain too.
In fact, the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is not shy about attributing the causes of the Panic of 1907 to financial manipulation from the existing banking establishment. "If Knickerbocker Trust would falter, then Congress and the public would lose faith in all trust companies and banks would stand to gain, the bankers reasoned."

Again, he says "martial law in America." Now, it's entirely possible that he or his sources misinterpreted what they were told, but I don't think he's talking about the Congressional event. - inactive, on 10/03/2008, -9/+31"Someone explain this to me."
Ok, you live in a totalitarian state. The executive branch has all powers because it controls all institutions that regulate the other branches.
That's how they got falsified evidence from a supposedly separate intelligence agency. They can do whatever they want because there's nobody to stand up to them.

"Sherman, who led the House revolt against the bailout bill this week (and will do so again on Friday), has become spectacularly unpopular with both the Republican and Democratic leaderships, not to mention K Street."
"Sherman stands ready to try to blow things up on the floor Friday when the House is scheduled to take up the $700 billion bailout bill passed by the Senate late Wednesday. He sent an email to colleagues late Wednesday afternoon inviting them to a meeting of the Skeptics Caucus, which Sherman founded, to discuss "floor strategies for both the rule and the bill."" - odigity, on 10/03/2008, -0/+19No, we need patriots. - PhantomRogue, on 10/03/2008, -0/+17We should burn it all to the ground and rebuild it based upon this little document called the Constitution. Remove political parties, pass laws based on OUR vote, not a congressmen who lies once every 2 years just so he can get re-elected. We need to get as far away from this party line *****. The Bill is either Good or Bad, not whether its Republican or Democrat sponsored.
- marcabminion, on 10/03/2008, -3/+19If the current rulers of government are not impeded at least they should be put on trial for treason and deliberately ignoring the constitution. In fact I am baffled this isn't the case already.

What is a Republic?
It’s the form of government structure that America’s Founding Fathers set us up with initially.
Unfortunately, over the years, our Republic has been butchered and perverted until we now suffer under a totalitarian democracy.
Until Americans understand the powerful force that’s turned our Republic upside down, we will continue to suffer under oppressive and unconstitutional laws.
Training Manual No. 2000-25 was published by the U.S. War Dept. in 1928.
The U.S. Government defined “democracy” and “republic”. Interestingly, after the government bankruptcy fraud in the 1930’s, this publication was suppressed and destroyed in our supposed “free press” country.
What is a Republic? According to Training Manual No. 2000-25:
“Authority is derived through the election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them. Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences. A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass.
Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy. Results in statesmanship, liberty, reason, justice, contentment, and progress. Is the "standard form" of government throughout the world. A republic is a form of government under a constitution which provides for the election of
1. an executive and
2. a legislative body, who working together in a representative capacity, have all the power of appointment, all power of legislation, all power to raise revenue and appropriate expenditures, and are required to create
3. a judiciary to pass upon the justice and legality of their government acts and to recognize
4. certain inherent individual rights.
Take away any one or more of those four elements and you are drifting into autocracy. Add one or more to those four elements and you are drifting into democracy.”
According to Training Manual No. 2000-25: the government document then defines democracy as this:
“A government of the masses. Authority derived through mass meeting or any other form of "direct" expression. Results in mobocracy. Attitude toward property is communistic--negating property rights. Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether is be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences. Results in demogogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.”
Sounds similar to Thomas Jefferson’s thoughts on democracy:
“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.”
“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” - John Adams - 2600dblzero, on 10/03/2008, -0/+14No one is reading between the lines during this campaign.
Notice how the words "suspension" and "martial law" are being eased onto the public in various ways. - shipwreck58, on 10/03/2008, -4/+17Fear Mongering had worked for the last 8 years. How else would a pile of war criminals be able to singlehandeldly throw out a good chunk of our Constitution via the Patriot Act. Yep it works.
- subterfuge, on 10/03/2008, -2/+15regardless of the instutions, the executive branch ultimately has complete power because they have the military on their side.
