- bgrah449, on 10/14/2008, -0/+27I just bought Quicken. I love tracking my purchases. "According to this pie graph, I spent 100% of my money ... on Quicken." -Todd Barry
- wminzlaff, on 10/14/2008, -0/+18Support for RSS/XML?
Lets just syndicate everyone's financial information! - kkeith02, on 10/14/2008, -0/+15I haven't tried out those other sites mentioned, but I will say Mint.com has really made some good improvements lately. I've used them for almost a year now and it's very simple to use. They just added an ability to track your investments and how they're doing. Give them a try.
- nemanin, on 10/14/2008, -0/+15http://www.mint.com is definitely the way to go. easy to use and packed with features. plus investment management launches tomorrow!
- johnomaz, on 10/14/2008, -0/+15I'm sorry, but I don't feel secure having my financial data online like that. It may be secure, but that is only until someone really wants to get to it. I'll keep my data on my thumbdrive locked in my safe thank you very much.
- krait, on 10/14/2008, -1/+14I'm a Mint customer and I LOVE IT! :D
Actually, its free so I guess I'm a Mint freeloader :( - TheAlkhemist, on 10/14/2008, -2/+14Mint > Quicken Online > Homemade Excel Spreadsheets > Wesabe
- kemp34, on 10/14/2008, -0/+12How do folks who use these sorts of online tools ensure their security?
- uncleguito, on 10/14/2008, -1/+12What a coincidence- Mint just left beta yesterday.
- cyberkode, on 10/14/2008, -1/+11Holy crap, I eat out a lot!
- aimhelix, on 10/14/2008, -0/+7agreed.
- QuickenScott, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6That's an old video...sorry. Quicken Online is completely FREE. No strings attached...it's not a trial and it's not an upsell.
- DaveMN, on 10/14/2008, -0/+6I've tried both Quicken Online and Mint, and Mint wins hands-down. Features-wise, Quicken is playing catchup.
- PIPBoy2000, on 10/14/2008, -1/+6TRAP! ITS A TRIAL!
- trentrezn0r, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5Manage my finances online?
It's a trap! - fzoid, on 10/14/2008, -3/+8This is not FREE according to the video at Quicken it's a free trial and $2.99 each month after that.
- seandfeeney, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5One of the easiest ways to get to the front page is to submit articles from popular sites. Lets be honest, who reads the quicken blog.
On another note, I would be excited but mint.com just dropped the beta tag. - bstew22, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5how so?
- officecamel, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5Your tears.
- moviscop, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5I REFUSE QUICKEN'S PITY SOFTWARE!
- bstew22, on 10/14/2008, -1/+6I use mint.com, it's fun.
- mattguy, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5Um...I use firefox and have never gotten that error.
- thedez, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5Geezeo, Buxfer, Wesabe...
Do these live in Seussland? - 28dayslater, on 10/14/2008, -1/+6anything for Canadians?
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -1/+6I can't imagine *anyone* trusting the Net enough to put something as personal as your financial data out there. The BEST CASE scenario is that you provide free general demographics data to anyone not too cheap and lazy to buy it from your host. The MORE LIKELY scenario is that the host will sell more detailed data - not just your P&L but actual details. Like PizzaHut, do you? A Macintosh fan? Oh and look, a $5000 deposit you didn't indicate as income - where did *that one* come from? Not even talking about the fact that, sooner or later, one or more of these places *will* get broken into. It's just too tempting a target - for the government perhaps more than for anyone else.
/paranoia - icurnvs, on 10/14/2008, -1/+5Because that's where the poster found the story. He's giving credit to where the information originated from.
- spritom, on 10/14/2008, -0/+4Where's the expense category for hookers and blow?
- doctechnical, on 10/14/2008, -0/+4Works for me. Call me paranoid, but the day I put that data on the interwebs is the day I tie my own head into a knot.
- deathsurge, on 10/14/2008, -0/+4Security and Privacy are the scariest parts of the online financial software market. While Mint doesn't want any information other than your e-mail address, the most useful feature of these products is online syncing to your bank accounts and credit cards. Those username and passwords getting loose are potentially devastating both financially and from an identity theft perspective, and I'll be damned if I trust some random network tech with that information, regardless of their encryption standards. Also, knowing every purchase a person makes is an advertisers dream. Cross reference your IP address to other online sources, and you've gifted these companies more information about you than your mother knows.
I'll stick with local financial software myself. - Barackalypse, on 10/14/2008, -1/+5Socialized health care and higher taxes of course!
- bitt3n, on 10/14/2008, -2/+6do you really need the internet to count your beaver pelts and wampum?
- enotswhat, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3-Does not support Google
i am looking at it using chrome and it works just fine for me - spritom, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Welcome Scott. I'm guessing you're working for Intuit? It's just different to see representatives in areas on the web such as this. But I figure that may be changing...time will tell.
- Barackalypse, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Blind trust, no amount of caution on your end protects the account information they store on their servers.
- feyded, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3I'd love to be able to use Mint.com, but unfortunately there is still no support for Canada. Apparently (?) it's being worked on, so here's hoping...
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Cloud. Bad.
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3That's what she said!
- modifiedbears, on 10/14/2008, -1/+4It wouldn't be Digg if they actually went to the source.
- mountaineer, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Probably thinking of Quickbooks online (the small business accounting system), which does have those requirements. Different products.
- TheClassic, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3It would be nice if you Quicken standalone users could integrate with and use Quicken online.
- aalmeida259, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Uhh I'm using firefox on OS X and it works fine. Might just be you.
- downneck, on 10/14/2008, -1/+4hey, does anyone know how i can relinquish control over all my financial assets to the widest array of opportunistic thieves possible?
- davdev, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Since it doesn't allow you to export your data from the Quicken standalone, I am out. Been using quicken for about 5 years, there is no way I am going to essentially start over.
- kahoona1, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Taking bets on how long until this thing gets hacked.
- unafraidsage, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Agreed... I love Mint! And starting today I can track my investments using Mint. :D
- alpha94, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Mint looks interesting, too bad there's no Canadian version.
- acroyear2, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2Ahh. Just in time for financial meltdown. Let's see... why are all these numbers colored red?
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2Yea, please elaborate.
