- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31Google should buy some land, like Canada or something, and create a nation. I seriously want these people governing over me.
- adragons, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18As silly as that sounds - I wish it actually happened. I'd be a lot happier with Google as my government.
- airwalkery2k, on 10/12/2007, -2/+49They should buy the entire earth. Then they could call it... Google Earth!
- LonesomeFighter, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2then with their country they can compete in the Olympics. they would prob let their employees compete for fun, but they have the money to pay the pro's to compete for them and win the gold.
- eradicator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I for one welcome our new Google overlords.
- aceman118, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4With google as the government I bet we would have found those WMDs in Iraq.

nah, google searches are more accurate than that - pollardito, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6i think you mean Google Earth Beta
- checksumz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13After smart pricing their publishers to hell I'm surprised it isn't up 200%.
- shiftt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8and increasing our adwords bids to the dreadful "$10 or More"
- Duncan3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Man, that's a enormous amount of markup in the things we buy to pay for all those ads.
Be smart, buy generics or use sites that compare prices, never buy anything from an ad - you're paying for it!- Vision2098, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Or just don't subject yourself to advertising.
If you must watch TV, download it from the internet with commercials removed, or find channels that don't advertise or that only advertise their own programming.
And there's the ubiquitous ad-blocking facilities in Firefox using Adblock, and built into Opera.
You have a choice. - benbjohnson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The mark-up in products you buy supports other things though. You can't have TV, Google, Digg and many other seemingly "free" services without advertising. Don't block advertising because you don't like it. It's a small price to pay to be able to have these services. You're better off being more selective in who support with advertising.

Aww beat me by a millisecond! - yossarian24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7google is getting these incredible results during a fairly tumultuous stretch for them (nations largest lawsuit, talks of a monopoly etc) so just imagine what they are going to be doing once they are in the clear
- DarkSideofOZ, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1I've been a googler since I first heard of it several years ago, the advanced search functions, and cool web apps make my life easier... though some people (crackers, virus coders, lolicollectors) hate googles habit of tracking everything you search for and email, I unlike these folks, have nothing to hide, so google fits my lifestyle well. kudos to Googol (their originally intended name) , and their infamous motto; "Do No Evil."

- ntufar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, $3.18 profit per share. And a share is, what, $400-something. Less than 1% per quarter, which makes some 3-something percent per annum. Close but no cigar, Google. You can do better.
- gypsi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The profit growth is impressive, it's not their fault the stock is insanely priced
- CraigJ, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@ntufar 3% in 24 hours is a pretty good return.
@gypsi they could split it if they wanted to. - Salgat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The percentige increase in their stock doesn't have to be high to be impressive. Its about actual dollars.
- duck_oil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It wouldn't matter how many times they split the stock, the EPS on a stock split 10 times would still have the same P/E ratio.
- DrawingTheSun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1EPS?
- DocBoss, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1LOL 69 hahaha

What are you... 12? I want to see a Digg poll for average age of user. This is getting ridiculous. Is this how you show your support for oral sex? I prefer positions that don't leave my nose in the general vicinity of someones ***** - and once you've tried it children, I'm sure you will too. - Qwiggalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2jpowersnet,
lolinternet calm down buddy - DocBoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@jpowersnet
Um, it was joke dude, chill out. I just knew this was being dugg because it's 69%.
(Also maybe you should try it with a woman/man that has better hygiene). - undersky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@jpowersnet
are you ***** retarded?
apparently you have never had your ass hole being licked.
hint: it's better than nipple being licked which is better than head which is bettre than intercourse.
ok, maybe just for me, cuz i had too much sex w/ too many girls and hence became more kinky, but trust me, u should explore some ass licking action.
- JPowersNet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Ha ha ha. Not.

- operand, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@CraigJ: The reason their price is high because the stock will never split. That is not their business model and is copied from Berkshire Hathaway:
http://finance.google.com/finance?tkr=1&q=BRK.A (currently $109K per stock).- pollardito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Berkshire Hathaway is a holding company that invests in other companies and does so very successfully, and because it's successful people like to own a share of the stock just so that they can get the annual report on what the company (and Warren Buffett) feels is a good thing to own and what will be good stocks to be in for the future. if they split their stock, everyone that owned the minimum one share of stock required to get the annual report would sell all but one share and the price would drop by more than the split would naturally drop it. so since most everyone that owns Berkshire stock right now is better off if they don't split, it's unlikely that they'll decide to split.
- undersky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's completely unlike BH, your stupid example shows your ignorance.

- rseng7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google is awesome - that's why they are #1 this year in the FT/MBO brand ranking...
http://www.ft.com/reports/globalbrands2007 ... hope they don't start getting backlash for being so successful... (I think the ping pong tables in the NY office should help with that though!)
