- Shogi, on 01/16/2008, -3/+86I can't believe people are still so touchy about the porn industry. Humans like to *****, get over it.
- Hellman109, on 01/16/2008, -0/+57They banned them making the discs in sony factories, they never banned them from making porn on Blu-ray.
It was their way of saying 'we dont support porn!' while also allowing porn :| - PFinn, on 01/16/2008, -2/+53Oooh.. Hi-Def stretch marks, cellulite, and razor burn....... this seems like it is either going to ramp up the editor's job to make everything look good on blu-ray or just allow for low budget porn that is plain gross
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -1/+30Oooh.. Hi-Def Boobies.
- offspring06, on 01/16/2008, -1/+21All animals like to *****. ***** is a part of nature.
- mattfugitive, on 01/16/2008, -4/+24In all seriousness, the USA is one of the few countries that looks at nudity as some sort of doorway to hell. While the majority of the world embraces nudity and looks at it as a thing of beauty and not something brought on by Satan.
BTW, nothings stopping the porn industry. All they gotta do is just buy computers with Blu-Ray disk burners. I mean they make enough money so why not. - inactive, on 01/16/2008, -2/+21I just got a copy of "Fat Midget Amputee Anal Fisting #34" on Blu-Ray, and I've got to say WOW!!!! The detail is just amazing.
- EarlOfLade, on 01/16/2008, -0/+18What's wrong with nakedness?
I'd rather see naked people than dead mutilated corpses and other forms of violence. Quite frankly, if you feel nakedness is bad, you have a serious mental issue. - offspring06, on 01/16/2008, -0/+17Who pays for porn anymore? The web has infinte amount of free porn.
- scottfarner, on 01/16/2008, -7/+23Then go to ebay and find out... Wonder on your own time.
- maninblac1, on 01/16/2008, -3/+18The "ban" for porn on bluray was spearheaded by disney not sony, sony was neither for nor against. Disney's continued commitment to the format was under a condition that porn could not come on the format.
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -0/+13Sony sold out and it feels soooo goood!!! On a serious note Sony did not sell out, they simply provide a format. If people want to make and watch porn, let them.
- Sniper, on 01/16/2008, -2/+15Hi-Def stretch marks
- guyincognitoo, on 01/16/2008, -1/+14It wasn't as good as #33 though.
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -5/+17I don't know if Sony sold out, per se. Any company that publicly embraces the nakedness is asking for trouble. The way it got framed by the media made it seem like Sony was originally dipping itself into the question of morality. With the brief flirting with the porn-denial concept coupled with the whole idea about Sony screwing up in a "Betamax" kind of way, I guarantee you that the marketers and 'deciders' over at Sony were all over this. They managed to step out of the political/moral spotlight while maximizing potential for revenues in the future. It was a win win for them in my opinion.
- HappyScrappy, on 01/16/2008, -1/+12*****. I'd say about half the countries in the world will lock you up for nudity, especially mass reproduction of images of it.
Why don't you try out your theory in a couple places and then write some emails from prison about it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pornography_l ... - davdev, on 01/16/2008, -3/+13And yet a huge # of major Companies make a fortune from porn, some of those being:
Time Warner
Comcast
Verizon
NewsCorp
Hilton, and all major hotel chains
among many others. - Boing, on 01/16/2008, -0/+10Who cares? Besides, who pays for porn?
- Nougat, on 01/16/2008, -0/+9IIRC, beta is still used by TV crews. You can still buy betamax equipment, but it tends to be very expensive. Not because it's rare, but because the quality of the equipment is now designed to meet the needs of a media market, not a home market.
- AsSubtleAsABrik, on 01/16/2008, -0/+8Porn is one of the only truly independent film making around today. There's no no upper executive saying that a monkey shoving chestnuts up a man's ass isn't mainstream enough to include in their films. It's the directors true artistic vision that you see.
- ashwinmudigonda, on 01/16/2008, -0/+8you people still watch porn on tv?
- aegis9975, on 01/16/2008, -2/+10Porn was always allowed on Blu-ray (there has been porn in foreign Blu-ray markets from the very begining). Its just that Sony wouldn't replicate them in their factories (you had to find another replicator).
Also, Sony doesn't control Blu-ray, there are 19 companies on the Blu-ray Board of Directors and each of them have a vote on the direction of the format. Also, there are 60 other members that can also vote as well. - xero9, on 01/16/2008, -2/+8Wow +3 diggs and you're spewing misinformation.. You got monkeys confused with dolphins.. Do your research.
- mywhitenoise, on 01/16/2008, -3/+9Don't you know? Blu-ray = Sony!
/sarcasm (for those who have trouble recognizing it) - Chineyz, on 01/16/2008, -1/+7I think BitTorrent will continue to be the best avenue for High Quality Banging. Other Than that I cant wait til Hawaii5hos comes out.
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -0/+6Humans ***** for happiness :D
- HappyScrappy, on 01/16/2008, -0/+6Say what? You're under the mistaken impression that porn was banned on BluRay and also that Sony has the ability to do such a thing.
Sony owns DADC (a disc replicator) and that company doesn't replicate porn BluRays. That company didn't replicate porn DVDs either and that didn't slow down porn on DVD much. - superkendall, on 01/16/2008, -0/+6Sony doesn't have control over Blu-Ray either, there are quite a few companies with a say in the format.
- BobSutan, on 01/16/2008, -1/+6Maybe this will be their incentive to start shooting alternate angles. I could do without the gratuitous closeups of the guys' faces. With alt angles I can click a button and it's back to the action.
- Nougat, on 01/16/2008, -1/+6Don't forget breast augmentation scars.
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -1/+6"porn could not come on the format"
i beg to differ
giggity - InspectorGadget, on 01/16/2008, -2/+7Lighten up, Frances.
- themacx, on 01/16/2008, -1/+6BD-live should be interesting with porn.
- ToonPang, on 01/16/2008, -1/+6Its that porn discs can't be pressed in the same factories as Disney discs, and their aren't that many blu-ray pressing plants. Could you imagine dropping in ratatouille and getting Battle of the Bulges? hehe...
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -4/+9sell out?
who's bitchin? stfu
and hd-dvd isn't even worth jerkin it to - beerncheese, on 01/16/2008, -2/+6Sony should not have a relaxed position on porn. They should remain firm.
- offspring06, on 01/16/2008, -4/+8Who wants to see an naked obese American.
- SemiSarcastic, on 01/16/2008, -0/+4VHS had porn, DVD's had porn, the internet has porn, honestly whats to stop them?
- Greg2k, on 01/16/2008, -0/+4"I'd take razor burn over incredibly hairy 80s-ness."
AMEN - Gerz1219, on 01/16/2008, -0/+4Can't they go back to shooting porn on film, then transfer that to HD? Film, properly lit, does a much better job of concealing physical imperfections, but it carries more visual detail than video.
I'm just not convinced yet that a pussy needs to be seen on a 50-inch screen, regardless of the resolution. - Philbert, on 01/16/2008, -0/+4The beta used in TV is actually a slightly different format, Betacam, than what was available to consumers, Betamax
- puddpunk, on 01/16/2008, -1/+5Actually, you forgot Dolphins. Dolphins.
- duffblue, on 01/16/2008, -2/+6Which is practically everyone on digg.
- kingmanic, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3At no point was porn banned from blu-ray or beta. It's a persistent and inaccurate urban myth.
- Nichiren, on 01/16/2008, -5/+8Wrong. I'm pretty sure Paris never saw a dime from the sale of her videos.
- Lust4Me, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3Isn't it a bit naive to think a for-profit company wouldn't "sell out"?
- WaRdRivR, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3whats the big deal?
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3Porn to Blu-ray.
Sony Sells Out.
Sony Wins.
Shareholders Happy.
HD says "doh!" - tarkam, on 01/16/2008, -1/+4There are all ready companies offering Blue-ray and HD-DVD duplication, so it can't be a sellout when you sell blank media so that people can burn whatever content they want. If they were the only ones that could commercialize and duplicate the media and they allowed porn then maybe they would be sellouts.
Example: http://ideareplication.com/ - dOOBiEx213, on 01/16/2008, -0/+3Topic at hand, the only thing loose here are vaginas. I believe you meant "lose."
