- CoolHandLuke70, on 11/07/2008, -124/+300Peter Schiff nails it AGAIN!! I have an idea --- Let's all agree to pretend that Obama is white so we don't get called racist when we are critical of him!! Peter nailed it by saying that Obama's ethnicity is irrelevant. Ironically, those who think it is and are defending Obama based on his race are........racist!
- wrzhydr, on 11/08/2008, -77/+191So because ONE MAN says that Obama will kill the economy, that completely overrides all the other economists who think Obama will be the one to save it? Jeeze, you guys talk about blindly following someone but are guilty of your own accusations. Now bury me to hell because I disagree with your views.

I REALLY wanted Ron Paul to win. That being said, America does not want to hear what Paul or Schiff have to say. And I can see why. It took everything in my power not to slice my wrists after reading Schiff's book, Crash Proof. Then when I called EuroPacific, Schiff's company, to implement Schiff's plan to become Crash Proof and save what remains of my 401K from the impending crash, they told me the minimum investment was 20K (which I no longer have) and that was that. I'm not mad at them for being capitalists (I'm pro-capitalism), but I don't think the markets are a self perpetuating panacea for every human issue and situation.
I believe we need a smart, competent, visionary to run this country and I hope that Obama will make the right decisions. To suggest that he is going to destroy the country before he has even take office takes a flying leap from pessimism into paranoia. - sheeplescareme, on 11/07/2008, -54/+130ten minutes of genius. listen to all of it here:

That's not an eyeopener for most. - wrzhydr, on 11/08/2008, -21/+62Then why do, according to The Economist, 80% of Economists think Obama has the better plan?

http://www.economist.com/world/unitedstates/displa ... - jerbaker, on 11/08/2008, -20/+60I didn't see where any of this "printing more money" business was Obama's idea. All I heard was that some economist suggested that Obama should continue Bush's policies. Maybe I missed it. Can you give me a time mark in the recording I should go to?
Thanks. - brad3378, on 11/08/2008, -4/+42If you haven't noticed, Schiff has been vocal for years in criticizing the Bush administration for deficit spending, which led to printing money, which has led to inflation.
In fact, he criticizes the republicans in this video at 5:05 - inactive, on 11/07/2008, -32/+69I suppose this means my advocacy of Obama making Schiff's phone ring to give him a job was even more hopeless than most of my smaller-government ideas...But Schiff is great in this one. I wonder how his Dad is doing? Irwin Schiff is a nice, funny guy, and a great American who has put up a valiant fight against the IRS.
- TheMachine1, on 11/08/2008, -24/+56He is forecasting in the video that in 4 to 5 years that a person with a 1-2 million saving will not be able to retire. I have heard this hyperinflation prediction before. He could very well be right but I have not heard a convincing argument for a layman like me. This same hyperinflation prediction was made by rightwing nuts before Clinton was elected.
- Rothbardosaurus, on 11/07/2008, -29/+60The policies he promises to carry out are nearly identical to those of Bush. Some are even worse. If people were screaming about Bush destroying the country, they should be very wary of Mr. Obama.
- tr0j, on 11/08/2008, -8/+39I thought it was customary to give a new political leader a honeymoon period before bringing out the pitchforks and nooses.
- pkulak, on 11/08/2008, -47/+77Same old sky-is-falling ***** I've had to listen to from my Libertarian friends for years. ZERO new ideas in that speech. Why is this news?
- adlep, on 11/08/2008, -8/+36Let's start blaming Obama BEFORE he officially becomes a President...
How about giving guy a chance for maybe, I don't know - 100 days. Lets stand back and and actually see what he does.
- Jeepy, on 11/08/2008, -19/+43See Obama caused a recession after Bush's surplus which happened after Clinton's recession that took affect during Bush's first term. Clearly the market is reacting to Obama becoming president and not the 260k reported lost jobs.
/right wing
Editors note: They probably quit their jobs to move out of the country because Obama became president. - inactive, on 11/08/2008, -7/+30Well most economists that support Obama come from the Keynesian school of economics. Look what good that has done this. (Nixon said he was a Keynesianite)
80% of economists prefer Obama to MCCAIN. Both of them are truly awful, so it doesn't say much. - idc5, on 11/07/2008, -34/+56This needs to reach the front page. People need to stop blinding putting all their faith in one man who is unable to fix the problems of today.
- rheaume, on 11/08/2008, -3/+25Quick question for the Ron Paul fans, the stuff he wants to do is pretty radical, how would he get it by a right wing/liberal congress and senate?
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -4/+25"Except his HIGH spending low taxes republican buddies have been in power for the last 8 years wrecking our economy."
Fixed it for you. - Protonz, on 11/08/2008, -6/+27Obama will kill the economy, and so would McCain (as Bush is now).
The US empire is coming to a close, much like the Soviet Union. The government is growing too big to sustain itself. - vat0r, on 11/08/2008, -13/+33You know, an awful lot of people like to pick apart our monetary system and act as if they have the end all solution. When the reality is that most of the global economy is based on printed money. Now we've all heard the arguments about backing currency with something of value and there is much to be said for that line of thinking. However, I think it's crucial for people to realize that at this point doing anything but printing money is basically a global economic suicide pact. I'm sure our soon to be President is well aware of the down falls concerning printed money but, he has to do the best with what he has. He can't start reworking the monetary system before he's even President.
Some spent the entire election season knocking Obama supporters for having "high expectations". Ironically it is the same people who are now expecting miracles from him, waiting for an opportunity to say "I told you so". I voted for Obama because he was obviously the most intelligent candidate and to be perfectly honest he's smarter then most if not all those who mock him for what he hasn't even done yet. - jerbaker, on 11/08/2008, -18/+38You're not getting it. Everybody is attacking Obama here, but where's Obama's statement that this is what he wants to do? All we have is Peter Schiff giving us hearsay evidence that some random economist has suggested that Obama continue Bush's policies.
- adlep, on 11/08/2008, -8/+28Right...
Just like Clinton did with his budget SURPLUS....
If you think that putting people to work and generating a budget surplus is bad for the economy, then I rest my case...
If you are saying that dems have destroyed our economy, what is going on now? And how can you blame dems for the last 8 years? - mudpuddle, on 11/08/2008, -4/+24"Let's all agree to pretend that Obama is white so we don't get called racist when we are critical of him"

awe... gotta love Peter Schiff. His poor father is in jail for "tax evasion" - bobt39, on 11/08/2008, -2/+22obama has been talking about his economic plan for months, and even more so since the crisis started. its not exactly hearsay...
- gmeluski, on 11/08/2008, -7/+26Schiff's right. Obama's been in office for -73 days and look what he's done with his policies!!
All kidding aside, I have a lot of respect for Peter Schiff and his economics, but for God'ssake, a little more positivity. A little more in the terms of workable solutions. "Get out of the dollar" does not work for the average American.
Peter has lost a little bit of my confidence with that bit right there. Not that it matters. If America goes in the tank, I'm sure he's wealthy enough and diversified enough to survive.
What I do (still) agree with him upon is that the U.S. should be seeing a shift back to a production-based economy. - muckemuck, on 11/08/2008, -2/+21He already has.. long ago. Do your own research.

- monkeyrun, on 11/08/2008, -11/+28lol, anyone who doesn't agree with your second coming of Jesus Christ is either a right wing or a extreme lefties nut case.
- algaeturd, on 11/08/2008, -27/+43"printing money is bad, mmmkay?'
Obama didn't say 'print, print, print' if you actually listened to the audio. He said that one of the economic experts suggested that would be the solution, to inspire Americans to spend.
So Obama gets the blame for a process that's been around for decades?
You guys are idiots. Yes, printing money out of thin air is dumb and adds to the problem but this is buried for trying to somehow, magically and irrationally tie it to the Obama administration. What in the ***** does it have to do with him? Go to Paulson, Bernanke and Bush if you want to accuse someone of stuffing this down the peoples' throats in the most recent downfall.
Schiff takes the opinion of one single Obama supporter and spreads it across the entire world.
What would McCain do that would make a difference? What's Schiff's real message here?
Why does he end every sentence with the word, 'right?'
Why did the person who compiled this video have to show a photo of a black man carrying an armload of money? why does schiff always push HIS investment services on you after every rant?
"You're going to lose all your wealth unless you know how to invest in gold! Here's my website!"
Time to ask yourselves some questions about these videos. - AndyWhite, on 11/08/2008, -4/+19You mean the same 80% of economists who never saw any of this coming? Right...
- pintomp3, on 11/08/2008, -9/+24can anyone name a single country as an example of where the unregulated free market has worked?
- Ihatepolitics, on 11/08/2008, -2/+17he has offered one.
the solution is to let the bad companies and investors go broke. When you print more money to save them your hurting the poor and middle class the most.
Its a inflation tax because the value of the dollar goes down and prices go up in return.
Its ok to print more money when you get something of the same value in return. Just like you going to work you get a hourly wage for whatever you produce. But with these bailouts your just creating more money with nothing in return and increasing the money supply which makes getting dollars more easy but in return the money is worth less in value because nothing produced.it.
Thats why most families have to work two jobs now just to get by. - Ihatepolitics, on 11/08/2008, -3/+18Argentina's Economic Collapse - Part 1 of 12

- Ihatepolitics, on 11/08/2008, -9/+23You're right and Obama plans to continue the same policy as the previous administration and the one before that and the one before that.

- muckemuck, on 11/08/2008, -2/+15"Why did the person who compiled this video have to show a photo of a black man carrying an armload of money?"
It's NOT a racial thing. Read on...
The photo is there because Zimbabwe did the same thing we're doing. In fact back in the Spring their Federal Reserve bank congratulated us for going down the same path they went down (nationalizing banks and injecting capital directly into them).
That photo of the man carrying the armload of money is from Zimbabwe - he was probably carrying the equivalent of less than $100. I have $100,000,000,000 bills from Zimbabwe. You can get them on eBay for a few bucks each.
Schiff did NOT support McCain either.
Schiff has said repeatedly what the solution to this mess is.
We were warned by many, many people - we will either "print" our way out of this, or we will drastically cut entitlements. Both Obama and McCain have said many times that they would not drastically cut entitlements. That's what Schiff is responding to. - whatignorance, on 11/08/2008, -12/+25 Schiff seems to have summed up the problems with the US economy very well. Americans have borrowed money - living beyond their means - to buy foreign goods. So much of that borrowed money is now being held by China as US treasury bonds, well in excess of a trillion dollars.
I don't agree with the criticism of Obama though, he has been put in the worst possible position by the current administration to try and make a recovery. Every aspect of the American economy is deeply in the red: massive trade deficit, massive government budget deficit, massive private debt. The Fed Funds rate is already as highly stimulative as it can be, so the only tool left for the government is an expansionary monetary policy.
- Protonz, on 11/08/2008, -5/+17Didn't know about his father. Just looked it up.
He was ordered to pay 'restitution' to the IRS. What a bunch of crooks.
And they tried to make him plead insanity for not agreeing with the income tax. So sad :(
I really hope that some day, some where, we will see liberty. - nedzeve, on 11/08/2008, -3/+15Beside you, who's saying that his race matters?
- RSS14, on 11/08/2008, -3/+15Yeah, Americans should have voted for Ron Paul. Obama doesn't know jack ***** about the economy compared to Ron Paul.
