- headband, on 12/20/2008, -2/+35do they mean 800 billion yen or 8.9 million dollars
- jimmaculate, on 12/19/2008, -1/+19This is pretty big news actually. The rechargeable battery market is really overlooked in my opinion. So many gadgets require batteries, and I'm surprised how little attention this part of the energy market gets.
- Subduction, on 12/20/2008, -0/+12Okay, let's get this straight:
800 billion yen, 8.9 billion dollars.
That's the deal. - Sturmhouse, on 12/20/2008, -3/+12When did the yen become so much more powerful than the dollar?
- Wrangler76, on 12/20/2008, -1/+9Eneloops - The best!
- Subduction, on 12/20/2008, -0/+6When you decided never to look anything up by yourself.
- cuoops, on 12/20/2008, -2/+7Sanyo makes more than just batteries. Start digging around here and see.

A lot of semiconductor parts too http://www.semic.sanyo.co.jp/index_e.htm - VanD, on 12/20/2008, -1/+6This must be 800 billion yen
- adkenc, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4Young Doc: No wonder this circuit failed. It says "Made in Japan".
Marty McFly: What do you mean, Doc? All the best stuff is made in Japan.
Young Doc: Unbelievable. - thefarouk, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4Now we know why she works as a reporter for the industry... instead of working in the industry herself :o
Dugg for math example... - slugicide, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4Alright! Time for a new 3DO!!
- Sirocco, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4They make *some* excellent products. Projectors, for example.
- Echosphere, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4Capital infrastructure, R & D, and trademark/patents are worth quite a bit.
Sure, Sanyo was invented initially to copy Sony's golden age success but they have moved towards creating technologies and not Walkman players anymore, man their stereos sucked.
Their battery division though kicks ass. Hands down.
This is a win win merger in my mind. - fuzzynyanko, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4I have seen a few of their products at Wal-mart. I actually had one of Sanyo's TVs, and it wasn't bad.
- CitizenBane, on 12/20/2008, -0/+3Here's the link:

Here's the one for Semiconductors:
http://us.sanyo.com/Semiconductors - bincoder, on 12/20/2008, -1/+4Now will they develop a practicle 'AA battery' using super capacitor technology?
NiCd is too weak, Lithium too expensive then it dies, NiMh works OK for awhile, then wears out. My digital camera wants much better technology in its batteries. Something like 10 AH in a AA that is reusable for 100,000,000 cycles without any loss of capacity or current over time would be nice.
Extra brownie points if that could be done with an internal resistance of .001 ohms or less.
:) - Jhonka, on 12/20/2008, -2/+4they mean 8.9 million.... Gah, cnet....
- tmyprod, on 12/20/2008, -1/+3New DVX/HVX batteries?
- mediaspree, on 12/20/2008, -3/+5800 million Japanese yen = 8.9576 million U.S. dollars
- Brew, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2i can't believe they didn't catch that. Piss poor.
- OutlawAdidas, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2LOL dude... I hear ya. I hate using the damn HVX and then having it die a half an hour later
- drgmdp, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2i hate when ***** bury informative comments
- sat0shi, on 12/21/2008, -1/+2The yen has become THE safe haven for investors during this economic crisis. Investors have been dumping the dollar (and almost all other major world currencies) and investing in the yen all year. The dollar has dropped in value 20%+ this year against the yen.
