- JordanTW90, on 02/19/2008, -3/+76This is huge trouble for the US dollar. As oil prices shift to Euros, oil consuming countries will have no reason to buy dollars anymore.
- misconstrued, on 02/19/2008, -9/+72Anyone else not know what the hell a "bourse" is? ;)
- Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -7/+67I heard somewhere that Iraq had this idea and this is the real reason we invaded.
is that true? - GhostyBoy, on 02/19/2008, -10/+69I'd be pissed off at the U.S. too if they were threatening me and considering a pre-emptive nuclear strike on my country.
- Camaroman, on 02/19/2008, -10/+62Now now Iran. I guess it's time to cut more cables.
- tobymikle, on 02/19/2008, -5/+52What happens when paper costs more than the money its printed on?
- UKLooney, on 02/19/2008, -5/+42No silly! They had WMD's, remember?.
- RoboRay, on 02/19/2008, -1/+36A bourse is a bourse, of course of course.

- UKLooney, on 02/19/2008, -7/+37This will be seen as a terrorist attack on the US economy. The perfect excuse for Cheney's cronies to drop a few nukes.
Don't you just love it when a plan comes together. LOL - misconstrued, on 02/19/2008, -1/+29Find some elderly people in Germany and ask them...
- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -3/+29A bourse is basically a brokerage house or mercantile exchange.
- CurtisLow101, on 02/19/2008, -7/+31"This is huge trouble for the US dollar. As oil prices shift to Euros, oil consuming countries will have no reason to buy dollars anymore."
Yep, this country (The US) is doomed since the US dollar is tied to bushes oil. Thank Bush&Co. War with Iran? You bet! Thank Bush&co - inactive, on 02/19/2008, -3/+26Russia is now talking about opening one too.
- jawnboy, on 02/19/2008, -1/+22Bombing Iran won't help as Russia has a Bourse planned and no, no one will bomb Russia. Their military might not be the massive red army that is used to be, but they still have a pile 'o nukes sitting around with rather advanced ICBM's (SCBM's) to deliver them. It is a case where the bully threw his weight around too much and the rest of the kids took the ball and went home. The USA is going to be in some serious trouble if the people don't start smacking down the idiot politicians that are causing so much trouble. Heck it would be a decent idea if all the people in all the countries were to wake up and smack the politicians a bit to make them back off. People don't start wars, governments do, it is sadly the people that have to pay the price. Maybe we can get smart and just chuck the psychotic leaders into a pit or something and get on with our lives peacefully.

I need to cash in my American stocks before the great depression. - inactive, on 02/19/2008, -1/+17This one deals in oil products but sets the precedence for the bourse that will open soon to handle all oil exports from Iran.
- Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -2/+17Why don't they just print on 2 ply and we can buy a roll?
- tgc1, on 02/19/2008, -2/+17America is a sinking ship in an ocean full of sharks. Yet people keep sipping their martinis and the band keeps playing. Anyone else notice that this ship has no life boats or preservers on board? That water is mighty cold.
- makkaveli19, on 02/19/2008, -8/+23*****, i'm not american. i'm glad that someone is finally trying to take a stand against the states. They call them terrorists and evil, did they expect them to still trade by their terms. Even though the world will suffer from the fall of the dollar(especially canada) i'm glad that the us's stranglehold on the world is breaking.
- Barbosa, on 02/19/2008, -1/+15Israel plays a major role in this too via it's unrivaled influence in US politics. Israel is much more likely than the US to actually launch nukes at Iran or otherwise bait Iran into a confrontation. The US has it's hands full right now with what's on her plate, but Israel's thirst for war is not quenched. Israel's desire for security/dominance in the region could still easily lead to a regional conflagration.
- makkaveli19, on 02/19/2008, -2/+15yea just because they are tired of being bullied by the us. you guys call them evil and terrorists and still expect them to listen to your terms? ***** you
- Hangly, on 02/19/2008, -0/+12Isn't this wonderful? How many people in history can say they were around to watch their country implode?
- jawnboy, on 02/19/2008, -0/+12But the US doesn't need the rest of the world. It is the only superpower left, it can do what ever it wants, right? Well that's what the neocons have been saying for years I thought it must have been true.
- Look4Truth, on 02/19/2008, -7/+18*Waits for news reports of "...and now breaking, there are reports of bombs going off in Iran..."*
- billydisaster, on 02/19/2008, -0/+11The fact that oil is priced in dollars means that all countries that need oil have to keep a reserve of dollars. When the US wants more money, it can just print more dollars. This has the effect of reducing the value of all the dollars in the world by a small amount, and is effectively a way of taking money at will from the rest of the world. Being the world's banker puts the US in a pretty strong position.
- Stonekeeper, on 02/19/2008, -1/+11Interesting. That's what sadam was planning on doing. Look what happened to him. O but, that was because he was a tyrant of course...
- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -0/+10bourse - a stock exchange, esp. the stock exchange of certain European cities.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bourse - inactive, on 02/19/2008, -1/+10Yes, because every country is responsible for the jerk who wields the most power. I don't have anything against the Iranians. I don't have anything against them getting nuclear weapons, everyone else in the region already has them.
But the destabilization of the dollar could send shock waves throughout the world. Or if/when the US does collapse, I can very well see it being bad news, and not just for people in the U.S. . Though, I oppose US military force as a reaction to such things, not that anyone here will listen.
I think if this exchange opens or gets traction, it very well could mean that "Iran will have become too dangerous, to be left alone, and will have to be bombed if not invaded." It's sad such stupidity can be perpetrated by so few (idiots in gov'ts foreign & domestic) against the rest of us. - ufee, on 02/19/2008, -0/+9Not immediately, and not without 16 more unprovoked wars.
- yodaj007, on 02/19/2008, -2/+11Who the hell said anything about Ron Paul? You need to sit back, take a deep breath, and relax.
- skulljar, on 02/19/2008, -0/+8...unless it's Mister Fed.
- PersianCowboy, on 02/19/2008, -1/+9its just like stock exchange. But you trade oil and petrochemicals than company stocks.
- Retnuh730, on 02/19/2008, -1/+9Bush&co? Sounds like a Nickelodeon saturday morning cartoon.
- Barbosa, on 02/19/2008, -0/+8The process of threatening allies and providing military backed ultimatums to enemies (in order to strengthen America's currency and keep the oil flowing) began sometime in the middle of the last century. We've been installing and backing dictators, starting wars, making slimy underhanded deals to steal resources from the people of foreign nations and supporting coups d'etat for a long time now. This is done to keep a tiny elite minority super rich and to allow the rest of us to consume at a rate 5 times that of any other single nation, so" the government" is not the only one to blame here.
- loquax, on 02/19/2008, -2/+10Calm down. So what? Denmark does fine even though their Kroner isn't the main currency of oil exchange. The same goes for Britain, Japan, China, Germany, etc. It actually will help us (in the U.S.) in the long run if oil starts to be priced based on a basket of currencies because we will not have huge swings and large speculations in the oil markets like we do now. I'd much rather oil be valuated against an index than a single "stock."
- theratster, on 02/19/2008, -1/+9Yeah. The word "Iran" was a dead giveaway.
- skulljar, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7You mean you wouldn't be cheerful in the morning to look out your window and see two Iranian aircraft carriers "performing battle drills" off your coastline?
- makkaveli19, on 02/19/2008, -1/+8damn you for your historical inaccuracy! the spartans fell, sparta fell. greece got it back later.
P.S way to get your information from a fictional movie. - groovechamp30, on 02/19/2008, -1/+8Europe is certainly progressive and dynamic, Asia is certainly dynamic but for the most part not very progressive, the middle east is neither progressive or dynamic.
- Hangly, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7Hey, Russia ain't no USSR, but she's no slouch militarily. Especially under Putin.
- skulljar, on 02/19/2008, -1/+71. Are you calling America the mouth-breathing fat kid who thinks he can get more than 3 strikes or can use his flab as a means to smother other children as they vie for basketball rebounds? Ok, thought so. Good one!
2. Smacking politicians is not good enough, you have to reduce their population and power to a very small figure. It's called limited government. Unfortunately, power corrupts and if we smack any down they will just be replaced by new psychotic leaders.
3. Maybe we can just get smart and return to self-reliance and localized economies? - makkaveli19, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6***** that, lets go swimmin
- makkaveli19, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6sarcasm dumbass
- satanswetnipple, on 02/19/2008, -1/+7But that is only the beginning of the story. The wild swings the US dollar will experience will drop confidence with international investors. Let us be honest here, without large fortunes from the Middle East, Asia, Europe and many smaller investments from other regions, the US economy would stall. I remember a time when more than 50% of the worlds economy was traded within USA. The number is now slipping all the time. The stable currency means the investors do not unexpectedly loose money as the dollar drops.
I am of two minds. It would be great to see the excesses of USA stop tomorrow, but regret the personal pain American families will suffer. Low income families will be the ones that will suffer first, then the middle class will shrink. The neocons will not feel it. As soon as things look bad, they can move to London, Dubai or Israel (though that may be risky if USA cannot afford to send arms). - tgc1, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6Sounds more like a bankrupt fuel company.
- JulyZerg, on 02/19/2008, -4/+10No, you believe in bush, because he's ALWAYS right...
