  • kiwidreams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think NC is a great retirement destination. Having lived in Florida almost all of my life, I love it...but it does have it's limitations. It is extremely hot in the summer and hurricanes are becomming a major issue driving insurance costs through the roof. One of the biggest problems in my opinion, however, is that we are so far removed from the rest of the country. In SW Florida I literally have to drive over ten hours by car just to reach Atlanta. If you can afford to fly everywhere, this is just fine. But, if you are looking to RV or travel the roads at all, then Florida can be a problematic "home base!"
