- guardianx, on 10/21/2007, -6/+52Myspace is so 1995 - let it die
- peterjmag, on 10/20/2007, -2/+23Just when everybody was really worried about Facebook turning into Myspace, now it seems that MYSPACE is turning into Myspace.
- Azimuth1, on 10/18/2007, -5/+20That's MySpace.
Facebook is actually pretty good. - BevansDesign, on 10/18/2007, -1/+16They already DO have an open platform. It's called "letting any goddamn idiot on the internet insert whatever code they want into their MySpace pages".
- shreyans, on 10/19/2007, -3/+17Facebook > MySpace any day.
MySpace would be so much better without the huge glitter text, tacky backgrounds and horrible music.
Basically, they need to destroy the current infrastructure and start fresh; the current one can't be saved. - ePlus, on 10/18/2007, -0/+13I have to say that I like Facebooks' privacy settings. They are very good at keeping you away from the general public and only available to your friends.
- sluggysan, on 10/18/2007, -5/+16Way to go rip off younger, smarter businessmen Murdoch! Worry about the WSJ, not Facebook.
- inactive, on 10/20/2007, -0/+10No, that's what FaceBook is NOT missing. And it's the exact same reason MySpace is a such a joke.
- dobbinmon, on 10/18/2007, -2/+12i've dialled 911, your waaaaaahmbulance should be here shortly
- Aharoni, on 10/18/2007, -1/+11I know 90% of my FaceBook buddies in real life. The other 10% are people who I've met through FaceBook and haven't YET met them.
I use Facebook messages as a great tool for communication. Its less formal than an E-mail and you don't have to be online like on Messenger to just chat with your buddies.
This is the only way I keep contact with my family abroad, I play games with my friends (Scrabulous, not those damn-awful werewolf/pirates/vampire stuff) and get updated on my friends' lives, which truly interest me.
If you don't know what you're searching online, the internet can be a VERY boring place. Digg is a repository of awesome links (not only news) to kill time - but Facebook is the best communication and social tool available to date. Its far from being perfect, but its one of the only two sites that I frequent. - EmileVictor, on 10/19/2007, -2/+12I'm thankful for myspace - it keeps the trash away from facebook for the time being.
- lukasm, on 10/18/2007, -0/+7exactly, it's not myspaces fault your friends have bad taste.
- gregstrander, on 10/18/2007, -0/+7If by better, do you mean have more ads? Because yes, then they'd do better.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -1/+7Myspace has always sucked
facebook is so much cleaner, simpler, more functional, and just overall better thought out - Easty, on 10/18/2007, -0/+6So, the annoyingness of 'X has invited you to add this ***** app' PLUS the annoyingness of Myspace in the first place?
COUNT ME IN! - scott2007, on 10/18/2007, -2/+8Oh, grand - now you'll be annoyed by vampire and zombie attacks on myspace too.
- DirtySnachez, on 10/18/2007, -0/+5once you turn 13 you might change your mind..
- GunsGermsSteel, on 10/18/2007, -1/+6Safer, huh?
I just got a message telling me I've been banned from MySpace for not being a neo-conservative. - raynar, on 10/18/2007, -0/+5Will I still be able to find 13 year olds without worrying about Chris Hansen showing up?
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -3/+7myspace is finally getting it right.
- br0ken1128, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4The things you're complaining about are what make myspace so popular in the first place.. the ability to customize your profile anyway you want it .. if you're happy with your proile then don't touch it .. it's yours.. but if one of your friends wants glitter text and a tacky background then let them .. point is they have that option at myspace and they don't on facebook, people like that obviously.. besides not all of the profiles use glitter text and crappy backgrounds, there's a lot of really awesome profiles in myspace if you dig around.. tons of creativity
- DeathfireD, on 10/18/2007, -1/+5...and ***** 3rd party zombie apps take the place of the trash, right? It's hard to admit it but facebook has turned to *****.
- dgblackout, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4since when was myspace microsoft?
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4Having "girls" in the URL is always tempting ;-)
But seriously, don't click that link. - RichLatherX23, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Those who do not study their Geocities history are doomed to repeat it.
- br0ken1128, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3I definitely would like the ability to differentiate my friends .. or allow me to create my own friend groups with various rights to profile information on my own .. I'd also like to be able to create bulletins designated to specific groups .. I think those kind of things are important and missing .. I know too many people that keep a myspace profile for friends and a myspace profile for family .. hell, in one case a friend of mine keeps a myspace profile for his girlfriend and their friends and a hidden one for other girls he talks to (dog)
- keyboardduder, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3IM GONNA START BITING CHUMPS
- raynar, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3tables are "l33t", fool.
- souljaboytellem, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Take a seat right over there :)
- uberfu, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2WOW !
Stop the presses !
2 Companies/ Websites in the SAME Industry - copying each other and trying to compete with each other by doing the same exact thing_
This is a new concept_ I wonder if it will work_ Maybe it might boost their "industry"_ - flamov, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Facebook is so overrated, let it live?
- CaffeinePowered, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2Both sites are horrid, I used to like Facebook when it was just for college students and alumni. Opening it up to everyone and adding apps made it just as bad as MySpace IMO
- frostbyt, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Myspace = Great place for people who can't use html and like Chris Cocker
- shoerob, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Oh boy! MySpace is now the Microsoft of social networking sites!
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Unless they're also planning on firing their existing development staff, creating a whole new server back-end that isn't held together with the most precarious of strings, and switching the whole site over to a professionally designed setup, then I doubt anyone really cares. Honestly that's what facebook has going for it. They actually know how to design the back-end properly, and it shows through to the front-end, where things just work. MySpace is for promoting my music, FaceBook is for actually keeping in touch with my friends.
- h4mx0r, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1The thing that I absolutely hate about having multiple 'social networking' sites like myspace and facebook is that people migrate and everyone no longer stays on one site, therefore making the organization of friends harder to keep track of. I had friends who only had myspaces, but I refused to use myspace and used facebook. Too bad I can't add them, because whoops! They're part of a different site! Although I will admit that competition is good, for it pushes progress.
- DeathfireD, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1it's to bad notifying of 3rd party apps are on by default. I consider the 3rd party apps as spam just like on myspace, how I used to get spam friend requests or messages. In either case Facebook and Myspace are crap, there's really no difference anymore other then one limits you to there theme and the other doesn't.
As for myspace backgrounds and whatnot, that's what greasemonkey is for. Make a general them you like and apply it to all myspace pages you view. Never go through crappy myspace pages again. - blurrie, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1all my friends/family are on the space. no one will switch. i'm stuck =/ blech
- hyveup, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Myspace was originally for musicians like Facebook was for students. I think in both cases, it should have remained that way. Now it's great that Facebook controls page designs for aesthetics reasons, and it's great that Myspace doesn't to offer what Facebook can't. If the two develop interplatform widgets, it's going to be really fun!h
- shanehonda, on 05/19/2009, -0/+1MySpace is horrible. I never visit anymore. Releasing an API at this point is already a year late at best. Let it die.
- switchone, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1Am I the only one that though of the A Team at the mention of Murdoch(Murdock)?
- RichLatherX23, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1If your what is under the age of 17?
(Hint: it's "you're") - MScrip, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1I too was fed up with being bitten by zombies and vampires. But, luckily I rarely get those invitations anymore. It seems that my friends have gotten bored with all the new apps. I see just as many "your friend has REMOVED app." Facebook still excels at messaging, photo sharing and networking between friends.
I didn't stop using e-mail because of junk mail. Facebook is still the best at what it does. - dgaspard, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1I've stopped using facebook. At first the 3rd party app seemed like a good idea. Now everyone's page is filled so much crap and I get zombie invitation everyday. It's more annoying than anything else.
- plbland, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I fail :(
- inactive, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1too bad your band sucks.
- hyveup, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1I dont' agree in all cases. Let's remember that Myspace was originally for music and arts, and a Myspace page is still far better to fully brand your page and thrown your viewers in your music artistic universe. Myspace Music on Facebook would be boring.
- liquidfirex, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1Myspace is great if your under the age of 17, otherwise, use facebook.
