- Surferess, on 03/25/2009, -0/+21Great, now he can join the great big halvers club, of which most of us are now members.
- mysticdave, on 03/26/2009, -3/+18Hell, if he lost 99% of his money, he would still be wealthier than most people on this planet.
- ThinkBox, on 03/26/2009, -1/+11If he lost 99% of his wealth, it makes you wonder what happened on the planet to cause such a thing.
How many people work at his newspapers or on his networks? If 1% were left of that, I think most people would have more to worry about than how rich he is, or how much they dislike his miserly nature. - rpgmakr, on 03/27/2009, -1/+8That's hardly justice.
- dlan4327, on 03/27/2009, -1/+8Any reason for that? I mean just because someone's rich doesn't mean they are evil.
Maybe they worked really long & hard to get where they were. - tonmil, on 03/27/2009, -3/+9Why is this on the front page? Lot's of people have lost 30-50%.
- mrogi, on 03/27/2009, -0/+6If Murdoch keeps losing money at this rate in another 400 years he will be broke.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -3/+8OMG the illuminati Murdoch is tracking your mind. Cook your brain for 3 minutes in a microwave oven to fry the RFID device. Wake up sheeple!
- mixmatosis, on 03/25/2009, -8/+13There is some justice in the world.
- ThinkBox, on 03/26/2009, -3/+7Most people invested in the market the past year lost about half their money. That is on average with the market.
- Tetrator, on 03/27/2009, -1/+5Welcome to the club Mr. Murdoch. The rest of America arrived about a month ago.
- zyklon, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4You clearly don't understand what that ASCII face is for. Don't use it if you're not going to use it properly.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3Don't be fooled, its all relative...
- LoveWidescreen, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3But they've gained 300-500% in the apostrophe market.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -1/+4Well...it HAS gone up almost 22.5% over the last 2 1/2 weeks. Is that not a rebound? I am not saying it is definitely going to stay that way, but it IS a rebound.
- topgigmedia, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3Boo hoo. My lack of respect for him has doubled.
- DBreeze, on 03/27/2009, -1/+4After already being a billionaire, more money doesn't really matter. It's not like his lifestyle is gonna change. What matters is power and influence.
- zeebo, on 03/27/2009, -1/+4the people who he's already discarded have made a pretty big difference already. Perhaps if he loses that much the wealthy will learn that they can't save themselves by throwing the rest of us under a bus at the first sign of trouble.
- arlesquin, on 03/27/2009, -2/+4I'd really like to have an ASCII of Mister Pink playing the world's smallest violin right now...
- honeybrass, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2OH NO!! Now he only has half of infinite money!
- ganymede2010, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3Not even a mass amount of wealth can shield one from the clutches of karma.
- waleedo, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2awwww!!!
- pbgswd, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3Halve it again! Halve it again! Halve it again! Halve it again!
- copypastry, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3crikey!
- StEligius, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3I have the feeling that in the coming decades we will all come to find out the truth that the value of out money is based on lies and not worth the fibers its printed on. This imaginary wealth that is based on "futures" and "value" of stocks needs to end. I'm afraid that a lot of people who have little or nothing to do with this sham will have to suffer the most.
- dlan4327, on 03/27/2009, -2/+4Any reason for that? I mean just because someone's rich doesn't mean they are evil.
Maybe they worked really long & hard to get where they were. - expatcatalyst, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2Yeah, but what is half of a gozillion?
- Swivelstick, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2Imagine if his newspapers and networks collapsed along with the rest of them... We would have to return to locally owned and run operations that actually serve the community instead of exploit it.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3Good.
- PunkRampant, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2Interestingly, Murdoch isn't all that conservative. He's a fan of Obama and has been moving to the left for the past few years. Murdoch actually disagrees with Fox News's ultra-conservative president Ailes on many issues, but he isn't going to bother trying to fix what isn't broken. Fox News is pretty successful despite its bias, and that's all that matters to Murdoch -- the money.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2Big deal. Name a billionaire whose wealth WASN'T halved last year? Anyone whose wealth was based in stocks saw their fortune plummet. The Google people saw their wealth drop by MORE than 50% in 2008.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2Im pretty sure thats lethal
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2Well, it means that he can't buy a new fleet of Gulfstreams each time he spills a coffee on the carpet of one.
- tgc1, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3You know, I almost cared there for a second.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Fox News is absolutely hysterical. We only see it when we go abroad (we don't have it at home) and adore it.
How do those plastic-looking newsreaders manage to speak through massive fake smiles? It's a real talent! - Thex1138, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Oh yeah...
http://www.news.com.au/partnerheadlines_news - TalenGTP, on 03/27/2009, -1/+2Way to fall for the class warfare rhetoric. I bet you're of those types that thinks everyone with money was born into it as a trust fund brat. I strongly recommend some free thought...stop slurping up all the propaganda
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -1/+2why would someone bury this comment? You don't want to know facts or something? The fact of hte matter is, the market HAS rebounded in a big way, and ther ARE many other very positive signs regarding the economy. We are not out of the wods by a long shot, but just because you desperately WANT to believe that things are still getting worse does not make it so.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Hey, I'm even handed. I think he's a ***** as well.
- ryan83189, on 03/27/2009, -3/+4Don't worry, the stock market is rebounding, Obama told me so!
- MarkusX, on 03/25/2009, -3/+4Back on #1, because the former #1 executive has invested in worse stock than him and lost not just half but 71 percent.
What a Hero! /sarc - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Use the fold down (reply) method next time..
But yeah, he owns 80% of the media in Australia
most of the US and a significant share of that in England..
It should be broken up as it seems he has been giving blow jobs to politicians to loosen ownership / monopoly laws...
It must have been blow jobs because you can't hand a politician money without bribing them.....oh wait...America! - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Long list is long.
- thcobbs, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Wait.... he owns Fiji? wtf?
- CFICARE, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1I'd prefer the title read "Murdoch's wealth cleaved in twain". I don't know why.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Reality has a liberal agenda?
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1500 zillion
- PopcornDave, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1It's a rebound but is there any real reason for it rebounding beyond people finally stopping the panic?
If that's all it is, then fantastic. Maybe we can get to rebuilding the country.
I'm just concerned it may be going up for no reason only to fall again. -
