Don't have to be a genius to understand that the bonuses of your ENTIRE business structure need to be linked to real-world performance, or they simply become exorbitant salaries. They are unaware of the gathering masses at the gate. But they will be soon. Very, very soon....

The problem is that these companies want to give very large bonuses *regardless* of performance, rather than based on performance. They want to reward any performance at all, be it good, mediocre, or ball-crunchingly bad. That's not a recipe for retaining high-caliber people-- it's a recipe for disaster.

The fact that a group of Diggers think something is true doesn't make it true-- but it doesn't make it false either. Say you busted your ass all year, your division does well and you expect a big bonus, but you don't get it because another division was doing shady business practices and lost billions of dollars. That's unfair and I'm sure these companies are going to lose employees who jump ship when denied their big bonuses.
So, while I understand that these companies want to pay bonuses to keep the employees who are doing well, it's not the government's job to bail out companies so they can pay the bonuses their employees want or think they deserve.
