With many more with full health. Can't beat the signal!
Be sure to drink your peerguardian ovaltine. - VIrus9, on 10/11/2007, -1/+53I notice there's no mention of how many recordings they failed to stop.
Anyone want to check some torrent sites and count? - MarcoPolo9, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41I'm in China right now on a study abroad tour, trust me DVDs of Spider Man 3 are everywhere. One box had this great review quote on the front of box/sleeve, "As a movie film reviewer I have one thing to say about Spider Man 3: it was lifeless". I don't think they intended on a lot of people who could read English to read it because it really makes you want to buy the DVD.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+30so what do they want? a cookie?
- Renton, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26Eww, who download the cams? DVD rip FTW!
- hijinks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21so they stopped 31.. only around 3100 probably made it to the streets.. well done MPAA.. maybe you can increase your law enforcement so ticket prices can go up to $13 here in Manhattan and then wonder why no one goes to see movies.
- ablez3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19and i would have gotten away with it
if it werent for those pesky kids... - AcePup, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20@rebopper
Your provider can still see the files you download since its run over on their network. Basically all peerguardian does is block ips that need to be blacklisted. RIAA, MPAA, FBI, CIA, etc. from seeing what your actually downloading. If you are on their network downloading though, they can see all. - firemaker103, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18Yes, it is illegal. By watching it, you are downloading it. Streaming is temporarily downloading it.
- fober, on 10/11/2007, -5/+20"I notice there's no mention of how many recordings they failed to stop."
It only takes one. - waterboy1628, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Spiderman 3? That is an old release.
My friend bought Shrek 3 on DVD for $2 in China Town, NY yesterday. - spidoman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15You mean I can download 31 less copies of Spider-Man 3? NNOOOOOOOOO I'm stuck with 2 dozen crappy cam captures.
And encryption ftw. - navtejkohli, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13I am unsure as to why this is getting dugg, unless it's to show how utterly out of touch the MPAA is.
- catfish182, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12its like the war on drugs
"we got 31 out of 100,000"
good job Forest Gump - OutThisLife, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11I've been DL'ing and streaming movies since I was 12 (17 now) all on roadrunner and I've never used anything to hide myself. No emails, no calls, nothing.
Why? =[ - numbered, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11My ISP forwards me emails from Paramount all the time. Then forwards me more letters. Course, its all quite useless since america's laws are only jurisdicted to repress it's own citizens in the name of profit.
..us crazy canadians.. . ..eh?. - JeremyTTU, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8If i knew Spiderman danced all crappy-like, i wouldn't have paid for it... :) CYA!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8@outthislife
I think it's because your ISP isnt following up on any leads, or they just dont give a *****. I have verizon and I used to use torrents all of the time, and never got a single letter. However my friends that use comcast would download the same exact torrents off TBP and get notices in the mail. Comcast must give up their customers info pretty easily I guess. - rebopper, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11I run peerguardian and Comcast still sends me letters about downloading, usually The Sopranos.
- Netrilix, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I saw Shrek 3 in theatres in Manchester, NH for $8.75. I know, that's so unDiggly of me. But hey, I suspend my Digg morals (or lack thereof) when I'm with a girl.
- JeremyTTU, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Do you go to the movies alone or with your buddies? Because, if you weren't single, you could use the feminine hygiene products to your advantage and seem more like a sensitive guy. Well, as long as your date wasn't a guy.
- kidjay, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7well, i refuse to be surveiled while trying to enjoy a film.
- Netrilix, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8"Comcast must give up their customers info pretty easily I guess."
No, I actually am happy that Comcast sent me a DMCA notice. Basically they got an e-mail from some Fox executive, naming my IP and the name of the file I was downloading, and they said "Ok, we'll let that person know, but we can't give you their personal information". They didn't give up my information, because if they had, the notice would not have come from them, and it probably would have been more threatening than informative. - AngelBunny, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5What is funny is how cams where released to the scene 1 day before MPAA started checking for cams in theaters. Did they slow anyone down? Nope.
- silverchrysalis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5me too!
whatever surveiled means... - actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9FTA: "And of course, if the system for detecting illegal recordings of movies is working so well, why do we still have to sit through those patronizing anti-piracy PSAs?"
In this spirit, as a single man, I hereby demand that I no longer have to sit through commercials for feminine hygiene products or anything else that doesn't pertain to me. - valkyries, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5dvdscr ftw!
- cien750hp, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7it sucked anyways, not missing anything.
its actually probably a good thing theyre preventing people from having to see it.
oh and ***** THE MPAA - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Funny, I got my copy one day after its release.
- damentz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4lol, your too funny
- sofaKing812, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The ***** would have really hit the fan if they only caught 30. I for one applaud their vigilance in achieving this obviously crucial number. ***** (MPAA, not diggers).
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3oh, THAT'S why I *DIDN'T* watch Spider-man 3 online for free. *wink*

- alastar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4And someone sat down and said, "I know, let's fight a War on Fair Use next!"
- missingnoh4x, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Yeah, I think I still see plenty of easily accessible torrents out there, MPAA. Score Digg 1, DRM 0.
- Splizxer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Almost 22 of those came out of Canada.
- Alteron, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Well as one of the many many many disgruntled theater employees who had to stand at the front of the theater and "watch" the audience (i looked over my shoulder at them every min or so), and get paid for it, i have to say, i still felt ripped off.
I could have been at home on Digg, instead of watching that.
But really 31 people, over about 10 shows/screen, that was being moniterd, on 10s of thousands of screens across north america... thats a fraction of a percent, and its been said, it only takes one.
And its not like you'd have to have be there the whole time, at our theater, we had 3 screens of Spiderman, and that was 3 employees, and it really takes one to just walk around to all the theaters cause nobody's gonna pirate a movies 5 or 10 min at a time.
Then theres the thing that lets say they caught every pirate, and nobody got a studio or projector rip, how many of the people who downloaded it, would have gone and watched it, they would have made maybe another $100 000 or so, definitely not worth the cost to the theaters of the employees watching the audience (it cost our theater $500 Canadian, just to pay everyone) , it just poor economics. - kidd3ckz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3wuffs wrong wif da way i tawk?

spiderman dances fine for me. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1T H I R T Y O N E ! What a great success :)
- JoCliMe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I wonder how the 31 feel though...you gotta wonder.
- manogamez, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You don't even need a torrent.

It's not just stage6, it's EVERYWHERE! - ColdChilli, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Lol, I got my copy from a guy on my commuter train. Total download time 10 mins.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I paid $58 for 2 tickets to see "Lucky You". But we went VIP, you get a theatre with only about 10 people in it, motorized recliner seats, they bring food in during the movie for you ("I'll have a pizza at 9:30 with a beer, and at 10:15 can you bring me a slice of chocolate cake and a cappucino?"), private lounge area with comfortable seats to wait for your movie to start, no lines. It rocked, my girl loved it. We figured that all the movies out at the moment are pathetic, so at least if we pay for VIP we'll have a good time even if the movie itself sucks. But there are rarely any movies where I feel like paying to see the actual film, unless of course they have a Monty Python movie marathon one day, I'd pay to see classics like that on the bigscreen :)
Make good movies, people will pay to enjoy them on the bigscreen with their friends. Make lame sequels-of-a-sequel-of-a-spinoff-of-a-mediocre-1960's-TV-series, and people won't want to hand over their money. - 6or4n, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think I saw Sam Fisher with his night-vision goggles at the theater last night...
- onimusha115, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I went and saw the movie in theaters, and I want my 8 bucks back. They should be happy they can even give it away. Spiderman was such a sally in this one, if he cries any more the next sequal will be him sitting at home arranging flowers and reading poetry.
- mousky, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This movie had the biggest weekend opening and the MPAA could only stop 31 illegal recordings? That seems like a low number. How can the PR whores who work for the MPAA look themselves in the mirror each morning?
- kidd3ckz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2300 r5 rls's FTL!
wheres my aqua teen hunger force xvid adult swim... why did you scare all the cammers? - rickremixx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1all we really ever need is just one anyways , just cleaning up all the bad bootleggers anyways
