- MelekTawus, on 02/23/2009, -11/+71The pervert tells a lie and it's news?
- freedomjoe, on 02/23/2009, -7/+60Only 2 percent!! why didn't anyone ever bring this up to that great economist, JOe the Journalist ???? He mislead us into believing that he made over 250,000 year in profit at the plumbing business he didn't end up owning.
what a joke! !!!!
He must be friends with rush:-) - thejimmyo, on 02/23/2009, -5/+50Republican leader Mitch McConnell made a similar claim over the weekend:

/s - w3rdn4, on 02/24/2009, -7/+33Rush Gets paid by certain people to lie to the masses.
- publiclurker, on 02/24/2009, -2/+28I think you mean "if"
- TheJimid, on 02/24/2009, -5/+29Imagine if aliens showed up and said take me to your leader to a Limbaugh fan.
Poof...no more world. - KibblesnBitts, on 02/24/2009, -6/+26"Limbaugh makes false claims"
Directly to you from the Redundancy Department of Redundancy - thejimmyo, on 02/24/2009, -0/+19If true, that would be hilarious.
However, that quote is not a real one, and has been passed around through chain e-mails.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/quotes/limbaugh2.as ... - fedak, on 02/24/2009, -5/+23Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer.
As is Michael Moore, Ann Coulter, etc.
If you are still surprised and/or outraged by anything that comes out of these folks mouths, you need to have your head examined. - RogerStrong, on 02/24/2009, -0/+14Thanks! I'll remove it from the file I got it from.
- blackcloud333, on 02/24/2009, -4/+17I think I'm more disturbed by the people he entertains.
- WeHopeRushFails, on 02/24/2009, -6/+18From the audio clip:
"Folks, the wrong way to talk about this is Obama is gonna raise taxes on the wealthy..."
Well, hey, thanks for telling us how to talk about it, Rush!
There's nothing quite like giving direct instructions on how to create straw man arguments, aye?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man - inactive, on 02/24/2009, -0/+12Wouldn't it be much more relevant to see how many of the nation's top earners are small business owners instead of what percentage of business owners are in the top bracket of income earners? About half of all small businesses fail within five years, so I'm assuming that not many of them are turning $250,000+ profits.
Seriously, what am I missing here? An agenda? These statistics prove nothing. - freedomjoe, on 02/24/2009, -8/+20and like the good sheeple they are, they are all over digg worrying about the poor rich people (business owners) who will have to pay (gasp) taxes! they suggest the sales tax would be helpful. never mind that the sales tax hits the poor the hardest (they spend more of their income than rich people do) and that a larger sales tax will cut back on spending at this time when we need to stimulate the economy.
- jayjayjoni, on 02/24/2009, -5/+16Most small business owners are middle class. 250k+ jobs are the Caucasian, white-collar, professional workers with graduate degrees who can afford to pay a little more to help society.
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -1/+12You're kidding, right? Rush isn't doing his radio show for free.
- bobbknight, on 02/24/2009, -1/+11He's not a pervert you schmuck, he's a doper!
Get your ***** straight! - jayjayjoni, on 02/24/2009, -7/+17small business owners are middle class. idiot.
- deadbaby, on 02/24/2009, -4/+14You gotta try to understand the Republican mind here. Someone making $250,000 is poor to them. The thing that truly amazes me is how they were able to trick all those people struggling to make $25,000 a year into supporting their policies for the better part of the last 25 years. (worked out great eh?) I'll blame that one on the power of religion as a manipulative force in American politics.
Anyway, my opinion is this country gives a massive amount of privilege and disproportional influence to the rich in this country. They might have to pay more taxes, in percentage terms, but they're definitely making out on the deal. Almost no other country gives corporate lobbyists the level of access and influence to the government the way we do. So yeah, a large company might pay a lot of taxes on paper but they're basically able to take that clout and buy themselves competitive advantages and get all sorts of other special treatment by buying off the right politician. On a personal level the rich can buy lawyers that can skirt around laws that average poor and middle-class people have to obey.
So is it fair for the rich to pay more taxes? Absolutely. You can't just look at one metric (tax rate) to determine how well off rich people in America really are. We all know many companies skirt around paying any taxes at all. One of the reasons we have such high taxes on businesses is because any new tax law, fair or not, is ineffective against an army of skilled tax lawyers. The rate just keeps getting bumped up to adjust for their ability to find loopholes. - bluechips23, on 02/24/2009, -3/+12Well apparently, the conservative Republican party leaders seem to be quite a big fan of his ideas. May be the true intelligent Conservatives need to redefine their priorities than electing the same old Republican ideologies like they did for last 8 years that got us into this mess.
- bluechips23, on 02/24/2009, -6/+14Limbaugh is a disgrace to the American society. If the Republicans keep worshiping him, then they deserve to the second grade party in Washington.
- Frankyfan3, on 02/24/2009, -3/+11In other news:
The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. - RogerStrong, on 02/24/2009, -0/+8Perhaps, but you fight lies with the truth, not with your own lies.
I unknowingly posted a false quote. I apologize, and I won't post it again. - BenTheTank, on 02/24/2009, -5/+13We get it, Limbaugh is an idiot.
I don't know any intelligent people that listen to his *****. He does not represent Conservatives as a whole. - jayjayjoni, on 02/24/2009, -2/+10that's funny because the creation of an affluent society should trump individual rights. Those 250k+ jobs are hard workers, smarter, most likely went through graduate school and years of work. But a graduate education is only limited to the smartest and the entitled. How is that an affluent society? When only the best are entitled to all the wealth?
Taxes are to fund social welfare measures, education, healthcare, etc. All the means that result in an affluent society.
You should read Paul Krugman's Conscious of a Liberal.
- Frankyfan3, on 02/24/2009, -5/+12Seriously, the rich have been redistributing wealth for decades TO THEM... but try to turn the flow in the other direction and suddenly it's evil and communist.
When CEOs are making 4000% above what their production managers collect in wages there is something broken. - jayjayjoni, on 02/24/2009, -11/+17Raising taxes on the wealthy is a good thing.
- ScotchInBox, on 02/24/2009, -3/+9Why even give this guy credence if you hate this guy? Bad press is just as valuable as good press - especially if your controversial.
Buried - since Rush needs to go away for the sake of common sense. - fugazied, on 02/24/2009, -4/+10Why are the republicans the champions of the well-to-do?
- MelekTawus, on 02/24/2009, -4/+10He's a pervert AND a doper.
He was busted with several bottles of Viagra on a private plane returning from the Dominican Republic, which is very well known for it's sex tourism industry and underaged prostitutes. We can't let people forget that Rush is definitely someone who will travel overseas to have sex with third world prostitutes, and it's very probable that they were minors. - yerdaddy, on 02/24/2009, -2/+7That's the joke of it. The republican base wouldn't know the difference and the ones on the higher side of the bell curve sometimes complain about "limousine liberals". They have no clue whether their asses are punched or bored.
- Tweets, on 02/24/2009, -4/+9"According to Limbaugh, President Obama will announce on February 24 that "the Bush tax cuts are going to be allowed to perspire [sic] in 2011..." Perspire? No Rush. Thats your anal cyst you are thinking of.
- pintomp3, on 02/24/2009, -3/+890% of the Bush tax cuts went to the top 1%
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -0/+4By "if" I suspect you mean "if ever".
- yerdaddy, on 02/24/2009, -4/+8I wish someone would trip over the power cord to the main console in that cranky fool's studio. Every day.
- xenuxenuts, on 02/24/2009, -0/+4a comedy of errors?
- Rothbardosaurus, on 02/25/2009, -0/+4After Obama's done inflating the Dollar away, people will make $250,000/yr working at McDonald's.

The big thing we really need to worry about is the National Debt.
The next watershed is quadrillion. - booksnmore4you, on 02/24/2009, -1/+5By "if ever" I think you mean "if ever hell freezes over". :-D
- VitriolAndAngst, on 02/24/2009, -3/+7To realize this, Bush and Limbaugh fans have to actually do the math, rather than read the conclusion off of a bumper sticker.
- MelekTawus, on 02/24/2009, -0/+4At least O'Reilly was harrassing an adult woman. He hasn't been caught coming back from a third-world sex tour with a partially full bottle of Viagra (in someone else's name).
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0706062rush3. ... - ElGubrush, on 02/24/2009, -6/+9Rush Limbaugh's the neocon rapper
Freestyling his hate through his yapper
He's smooth talking, but, here's the rub
Freestyling means you make ***** up - haydesigner, on 02/24/2009, -1/+4Yeah, O'Reilly is the loofah king, not Rush!
- chevyorange, on 02/24/2009, -3/+6But hardly antithetical to Rush Limbaugh's bombastic rhetoric and beliefs.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 02/24/2009, -2/+5Yeah, I know a lot of middle-class struggling workers who treat "free markets" and "no taxes on the wealthy" as if they were religious concepts. I'm immediately a blasphemer for suggesting that raising the top marginal tax would actually help the stock market, and would of course, keep us from all this debt due to borrowing.
If the government thinks we need wars -- then it has to pay for them.
Why do these people defend the Economic Royalists? They are not likely to join their ranks. - JinnRikki, on 02/24/2009, -5/+8I'm with booksnmore, let us know when this anal cyst tells the truth...that will be news!
- Tichondrius74, on 02/24/2009, -3/+6Rush Limbaugh tells a lie. Now I don't believe in anything anymore.
- SolitaireRose, on 02/24/2009, -1/+4So, what part of the story is false? I listened to the clip, then looked at the source and it seems that they were correct in their reporting of the facts.
Or is it different in your world? -
