- BedPost, on 04/10/2008, -5/+83I don't care.
- OneLess, on 04/10/2008, -1/+61Good riddance. South Park was right to name a unit of ***** size after her.
- roosevans, on 04/10/2008, -4/+49I am not surprised! To me she just wasn't an evening news anchor. (She is just too soft. She should have stayed on the lightweight morning news format. The evening anchor needs to be a hard core journalist, something she never was, in my opinion.
- anonibtarded, on 04/10/2008, -4/+33Who the hell watches network news anymore?
- underburn, on 04/10/2008, -4/+29Brian Williams FTW.
- BuddyStein, on 04/10/2008, -2/+23The most over-paid woman in the world! You could find a thousand smart, beautiful Ivy League girls, who could do this for alot less than 16 million a year.
Katie are you reading this? You know it's true. - wheresjim, on 04/10/2008, -0/+17Isn't getting fired from nightly network news sorta like getting kicked off the Titanic?
- mywhitenoise, on 04/10/2008, -3/+19I don't watch CBS, or anything with Katie Couric on it, but good riddance.
- davidg11, on 04/10/2008, -0/+15She is too soft and feely...creepy to guys who just want the damn news! This isn't the Oprah or The View crowd. I don't need a news anchor conveying emotion on a story...report it, and if you can cover a story good enough, we don't need your damn take on it. We'll make up our own minds and the story itself will illicit emotion from the viewer if you're doing your job.
Was Walter Cronkite a touchy feely let me ask about your emotions on air kind of guy? NO!
Emulate him and get high ratings...its that simple you network loons. - CannedMango, on 04/10/2008, -2/+16Leave the evening spots open for actual journalists
- Ganja420, on 04/10/2008, -5/+19(NBC News > CNN > CBS > Fox News ) < The Daily Show
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -4/+15What is "TV"?
- pdarg, on 04/10/2008, -4/+15you cared enough to click on this article and post a comment
- mywhitenoise, on 04/10/2008, -1/+10I just looked at your profile, and they all say the same ***** thing. Somebody ban this idiot!
- AKBryant54, on 04/11/2008, -1/+8Television News < Internet
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 04/10/2008, -2/+9Evening news from the big 3 is news television for people with radio shack rabit ears in their living room. I don't think they'll ever get the ratings back with all the choices we have now.
- FarvaRadio, on 04/11/2008, -0/+7Its a streaming video service. I don't think it ill do well because its ad supported and only has a limited number of contributers.
- zephyr42, on 04/10/2008, -4/+11*****
- diblasio, on 04/11/2008, -0/+6Digg is a news site? It's scary that you think that. I now understand how people can think Fox News is a news channel.
- Imrand, on 04/11/2008, -1/+7old people
- inactive, on 04/10/2008, -5/+10Women.....
- Triskozko, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5$15 million for reading the news? Why is life unfair?
- punkcat, on 04/10/2008, -6/+11OMG recession!
- likeyehokwhatev, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5)
- airiox, on 04/10/2008, -1/+6Does anyone really care? Only 6-7 people were actually still watching CBS news.
- oldhick, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Couric was never a journalist. She was an anchor. They read teleprompters.
- pedo, on 04/11/2008, -1/+5couric sucks. who cares about her.
- chrgrose, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4I've watched that episode probably 4 times and not until this moment did I understand why they used that name. I salute you.
- Mrdudeperson, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4Thats hot.
- sporad1c, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4So sad...oh wait I don't give a *****. Who actually watches the news anymore anyway?
- airiox, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4Uh, Katie Couric cried when George Bush won re-election. How is that not biased enough? Sorry, but even if Hilary were to win the presidency, I certainly wouldn't start sobbing.
- pidge, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3I'm sorry but I think she is a terrible journalist. She is perfect for a show like the Today Show. I think Meredith who replaced her would actually have made a much better fit for the CBS job. Katie just comes off to me as someone who flirted her way to the top. She is always gigly and touching men. If a guy acted the same way around women as she does around men, the guy would have been terminated for sexual harrassment. I'm sorry but I can't take any story she covers seriously. She may be a nice person and I don't wish her anything bad, but I just don't think she is a good journalist.
- ch28kid, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4I still haven't forgiven her for not wearing "Wriststrong Bracelet" that Stephen Colbert gave her!
- MurphyMac, on 04/10/2008, -3/+6I agree. I'm not a Meredith fan. I don't know how she got the job. She seems kind of petty.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Who gives a Rat's ass about "Katie Couric"?!
No one with any semblance of intelligence trusts the media anymore. Journalistic integrity has been completely perverted by the drive for ratings and advertising income. If you want to hold a job in news television these days, you must compromise your ethics, pure and simple.
If you believe the sh*t you see on Ameikan TV is the "news", history will prove you are the dumbest waste of sperm and egg to ever walk the planet - Treason, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3I do
- BelatedHero, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3An anchor doesn't necessarily have to go out there and "get their hands dirty" in my opinion. But they get my respect if they are a reporter who did so before becoming an anchor (i.e. Dan Rather, Peter Jennings). Katie was on THE TODAY SHOW for crying out loud. I like her, but she should never have taken over a prime time news show.
- Mrdudeperson, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Watch the news to get the stuff to put on digg.
- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3Only idiots think FOX is a "news" channel. It's carefully staged propaganda, designed to brainwash lower-working class stiffs into towing the party line, even when it is against their best interests. It's written to whip up the passions of the under-educated and is quite effective in doing it.
Only a complete scumbag still listens to opinions from a whacked out drug addict on the radio, or a dildo using pervert and his screeching she-male cohort on FOX.
Now, that is the height of stupidity! - Tyr7BE, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4Yeah really. You don't need to know about world issues, a picture of a cat mugshot should be enough for anyone.
Now, why watch the news when you have google news, that's different. - mecharabbit, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3The average viewer of traditional broadcast news wants a news anchor who is a stoic, steely-eyed, deep-voiced presence. They want a person who projects authority, not "perkiness".
- triggerfinger, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3the sooner the better
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3I agree. It was even more jarring to see that they were giving her segments on 60 Minutes.
- Triskozko, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3Evening news is actually a good source, much better than the 24-hour "Britney Watch!" network news.
- greatgatsbyII, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Now that the Today show has Kathy lee Gifford I'm sure they don't want Couric back.
- gn0stik, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Well, Now that I've seen the inside of her ass, I don't think there's much more I can learn about her really. Adios Katey.
- deanlowe, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2No, It's not news if it hasn't been voted on by Obama fans.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Compared to 2011 when her contract was up, then yeah, it's soon.
- likeyehokwhatev, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3I see what you did ther.... oh wait.
- fnordy, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2My guess is that she is moving to CNN, due to the relationship between CNN and CBS. Easier hours and such.
