- SWCarson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I just wish Jay Adelson had gotten more specific about user participation the way he did in the conversation with TechCrunch's Michael Arrington: http://www.talkcrunch.com/2006/06/22/episode-10-digg-30-launches-interview-with-founders-kevin-rose-jay-adelson/
There he explains that of the unique users (about 700,000-800,000/day) an impressive 1/5 to 1/3 of those unique visitors participate in Digg. Participation means either submitting stories, digging stories, commenting on stories or burying stories. - ctbfourone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Interesting that it's filed under Yahoo! on Blogging Stocks. Hmm...
- EODMpink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm a participating member of a community! Hurray for me.
- kuratkull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Luck is a big factor in success too. Digg is the best, but it happens to be in the right place in the right time.
- Nation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Digg was not first .... you could say it was different, but nothing on digg really is 100% original.
There are a couple reasons digg is as big as it is:
1. A good system - really the smashup of different ideas are done really well
2. Star power - Kevin really did draw a lot of people in
3. Marketing - DiggNation is one of the best marketing pieces current companies do
4. Listen to the market - they have listened to and at least considered the feedback they have received.
A saying I heard someone say that stuck with me is that you either have to be first, best, or different. Well at this point digg falls into at least 2 of those being best and different. As they grow and more competition emerges, then we shall see what they do. - strangerzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I just wish Jay Adelson had something interesting to say.
- keybsnbits, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2This interview is so short it's not worth a digg... don't digg stuff just because it has the CEO's name in the title.
