- kschramm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I feel bad for those people losing their jobs, but I'm glad to finally see a company cutting management before engineering.
- pidge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I feel bad for those who are losing their jobs but Intel honestly had to much management. I used to work for them and everything had to be managed and everthing required meetings. Not that I didn't enjoy working there. I had a great experience and I learned so much during my time with Intel. What makes Intel what it is with out a doubt is its employees. They have a great culture inside and that allows them to recruit the best engineers as the new Core 2 Duo shows.
- tmcdigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2yeah, but does that lower the price of their top chips by 50%, HELL NO!
just some white collar dummies gettin the axe for not selling overpriced chips.
good luck on the unemployment line guys! I honestly have no sympathy for white collar people who lose their jobs.. Intel is posed to lay off more people if things don't get better.. I personally can't find another reason to buy a new processor for ANOTHER 2 years. Until the INTERNET or SOMETHING gives me that reason, both INTEL and AMD ---WILL--- suffer! I promise you! - millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3ZOMG! AMD would never do that!! The company is run by Jesus Christ himself!
- diggetnewbie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I wonder if the if the lack of PC demand is anything to do with the fact that basically any bottom of the barrel entry-level new PC will run Windows XP. Not to forget the thriving second-hand PC market for an OS that was released for system requirements that were available in 2001.
Any wonder that the hardware industry is somewhat impatient for Windows Vista. Which is why I don't plan on any significant PC purchases for at least another 9 months. Bad enough every man and his dog is trying to dump their "old" Athlon64 because of the effect Conroe is having on price-performance ratios - and the thing hasn't even been released yet!
I suspect Vista will have the same effect - when it eventually arrives.
