        Amateur - More approachable. More realistic. More likely to happen to you. And, possibly most important - it happened, and the camera is either part of the excitement or a coincidence.

        Pro - I'm slightly above average at 9 inches. These are girls that would look at that and laugh. It's also hard to picture 99% of the plots as actually happening. Every time the camera angle changes, you're reminded of just how fake it is. You don't feel as "there" will the cameraman/director exercising their control over your viewpoint. Also, pro ***** can get too in depth.

      Sex is something that everyone can do and most enjoy doing. Its not all that hard to find a willing group of people to have sex for money.

      It would be hard to produce something like say... Lord of the Rings with only a modest budget and a full volunteer cast. Not to say to it would be impossible but its infinitely more difficult then finding two willing parties to film them selves having sex for 5 to 6 minutes.
      • peaceninja, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1thats a good point, but i dont think you can completely disregard the power that user-generated (non pornographic) entertainment can bring to the market...with that said, coupled with your point, i think hollywood will feel more pressure to bring quality entertainment to consumers, and this will inevitably cost them more money. unfortunately movie ticket prices are already over 10$, in addition to movie theater food being extremely high to subsidize the ticket prices...I am just pessimistic about hollywood in general and user generated content is going to eat away at their market and it will force the cost of hollywood to be higher. i think it's a possibility that hollywood (ie, the 4-5 movie productionn companies) are a monopoly who constantly collude that needs competition in order for itself to introduce price-savings in their production costs?

        I am curious to see if sites like www.sugardvd.com, a NetFlix for porn, will become more popular. I heard about that site a few years ago, but without the advertising and free trials that NetFlix does, it just doesn't seem to have the same popularity.

        And, while I agree that the complete fakeness of real porn is a turn-off, the downside to homemade porn is the fact that often times the people posting aren't the ones you want to watch! Thankfully most homemade sites have user rankings to screen some of that out.
