- Enigma5, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26I submitted the story not john chow, if you want to read my blog go here: http://www.bobbuskirk.com
- hyperfusion, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25"i mean logging on your other accounts and digging stories you submitted then logging on and burying my comment because it said something bad about you. go ahead, bury this one too."
I really hope that you know there's more than one person burying you. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Is there a rule that say you can't digg your own stuff?
- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15swifty12, you got dugg down because you are an *****, not because of one person with massive accounts. Sorry bud, but you are annoying.
- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15A N N O Y I N G
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Nope swifty, that'd be partly my one account, along with many others'.
- HaltingPoint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I freely admit to digging my own stuff. Have I ever made the front page? No, because I don't use bots. But honestly, as long as it is interesting, unique content that isn't obvious spam (like a site with a Google/Youtube embedded video surrounded by Adsense), what is the harm?
Odds are with the ever increasing amount of blogs, it becomes harder and harder to find new interesting things unless they are on main sites that everybody frequents. I honestly don't get the stigma of smaller sites posting their stories to get the word out since they don't have the existing user base of the larger sites.
Seriously, what do people have against this? And please don't say that is different because they are blogs...what exactly is the difference between a blog and a large news site? They both post stories, often times of similar nature...its just that one has a much larger user base than the other (and probably has more ads). - johnnyonthespot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10John Chow really does digg a lot of his own stuff. It's kind of funny, but I don't blame him. Where else is he going to get the kind of hits that he gets from the front page of digg?
- northerncomfort, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's a shame that the actual calculator that provides the number doesn't really seem to have a basis in reality- at least not for the big sites that he's checking out. It's interesting to see what it says about your own site, but I wouldn't use the site as a reference when I'm talking with a potential advertising client.
Still, I like how a link on apple.com is "more than you can afford!" - HaltingPoint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You know, while Bob Buskirk (aka Enigma5, the submitter) may not be an alt digg account for John, he's certainly submitted plenty of stories for his own site (hint: its not the one he disclosed in his comment)
A simple whois search of the sites in your story submission list reveals that thinkcomputers.org, a site you frequently submitted links to is registered in your name.
It also seems all of the other "think" network of sites are registered in your name.
If you want to submit your own stuff, fine, but don't pretend like you don't digg your own crap. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I don't give a ***** if someone diggs their own content. Good content is good content.
Is he supposed to wait till you find it and digg it for him? :tardsmilie: - johnnyonthespot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5John Chow is the guy that started TheTechZone.com. From what I've read about him, he thinks that he is the hottest thing since the sun.. and no one actually likes him, but acts like they do because he pays for their lunch.
- johnnyonthespot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Nope, there sure isn't a rule saying you can't post your own material. Sure, it's a little looked down on, but I still don't condemn anyone that does it.
- OwenX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Actually, while it says we can't print that many zeros or more then you can afford etc, its one of the randomized sayings when a website link is worth more then they can accurately estimate.
- flakwar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree with HaltingPoint about what he said about posting your own content. I mean, where else can you post your stuff that you want people to read? Honestly, though. If you write something, you should at least have the chance to have a lot of people read it.
- deanlowe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It'd be pretty sad if he wouldn't even digg his own stuff.
Who is this John Chow guy?? - mbougie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3try putting in the sites own address, you get a picture of dr. evil.
- geuisteses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Would like to say, this story is completely worthless. I tried out the website for our multi-million dollar a year South Florida real-estate company, and got $9 for 1 ad. I then tried out the website for my new startup company that hasn't even launched yet and got $16 for 1 ad. COMPLETE BS.
- palmdoc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I like TLA's Blog Juice Calculator

- kafka47, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Wow that's a lot of ads, John Chow.
And the fifth digg post from this guy I've seen in a week.
Bloghits advertising troll. - clarkgrubb, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4I'm going to bury John Chow's articles until he gets someone to proof read them.
- sheasie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0i bet this guy would win at poker... maybe not online.. but gambling at a vegas casino, fo sho! hmm... maybe online gambling too... he seems pretty wiley ;)
