- oboshoe, on 12/19/2008, -5/+33These guys are always ragging on us because we don't use the metric system.
Yet they use the POUND instead of the kilo for their money. - Kronich, on 12/18/2008, -0/+14Arrrgghhhh! This is my Christmas holiday travel money..
- StigNordas, on 12/18/2008, -0/+9That cup of coffee in Paris is $7 again!
- inactive, on 12/19/2008, -1/+9Just think now tourists can come and visit England and try to imagine how nice it used to be.
- hugolp, on 12/19/2008, -0/+7And the dollar comes next. Its allredy happening. Thanks Bernanke, because soon with 1 Euro Ill be able to buy enough dollars to wipe my ass during 2 months.
- groundz3ro, on 12/19/2008, -1/+8It's like me referring to the USA as Texas. Oh, texas is a great country? What? there are other states? No.... this can't be!
Call Britain BRITAIN not england. Or i'll have to call America texas! - Dougman82, on 12/19/2008, -3/+10Not too sure what that headline is saying...
- Hillsfar, on 12/19/2008, -2/+8Only to be expected. The British are further along in their housing crisis than we are.
- kgdoom, on 12/19/2008, -1/+6so we can call them Euro trashed?
- miozio, on 12/19/2008, -0/+5everything sinks against the Euro!
- groundz3ro, on 12/19/2008, -1/+6Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are part of Britain too. They all use the pound. It pisses me off when people refer to Britain as england....
- 3rdDay, on 12/19/2008, -0/+4Agreed.
- groundz3ro, on 12/19/2008, -1/+5Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are part of Britain too. They all use the pound. It pisses me off when people refer to Britain as england....
- Kelmon, on 12/19/2008, -0/+3Should anyone still have any money to spend, I think the UK just became a much more attractive holiday destination for those living on the continent. Certainly lots of my colleagues are looking at taking a quick trip to London on the Eurostar for some shopping.
- wildgilbert, on 12/19/2008, -0/+2The dollar has been gaining on the Euro and Pound for a few months now.
€: http://finance.google.com/finance?q=USDEUR - inactive, on 12/19/2008, -0/+2yes but Scotland Ireland and Wales are still nice mostly.
- oenoneablaze, on 12/19/2008, -0/+2remember when our american dollar was worth less than the canadian one? why is it that all of a sudden our economy is in shambles, but our dollar is worth something again? (GBP has fallen against the dollar quite a bit too--about 1.5 to 1, down from about 2.1 to 1)
- DigitAl56K, on 12/19/2008, -1/+2The only people who use kilo as a monetary denomination are drug dealers.
Did you mean "euro"? ;) - sanriver12, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1wow. just wow
- palehorse864, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1C'est la vie
- mal1964, on 12/19/2008, -1/+2Retail prices usually adjust.
- lex0nyc, on 12/19/2008, -2/+3It cost the equivalent of $7 for a double cheeseburger and a bottle of water at McDonalds in Milan last week. $7. No fries. WTF.
- Nackaroo, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1You are one of the lucky ones, my money is stuck in a UK bank account at the moment and I cant move it until I shut down my limited company. I'm moving back to Australia, if I was able to transfer the cash 2 months ago I would have got $2.65 for £1, now I can only get £2.16 and its diving further!
Check out this graph!

- Kelmon, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1* Does the happy dance *
I'm an expat living in Belgium so am being paid in Euros but our mortgage and other debts are back in the UK in Sterling, so we're suddenly finding things much better. I suspect this news is bad for a lot of people for varying reasons but it's not all bad news. - hitkaiser, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1The value of the sterling has always been artificially high thanks to the north sea oil, without that it would have remained a lot lower a long time ago.
- kasperu, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1That was cheap. Must be some bad coffee
- 00tony, on 12/19/2008, -1/+2Yes, but I think that person could legitimately be taking about England (As Scotland Wales and NI are still nice;-). Chill
- valkyries, on 12/19/2008, -1/+1everyone elses market is crashing to our level so the dollar stays put, their money goes down in worth
- omgwtflawl, on 12/19/2008, -1/+1Everyone flocks to the dollar in times of economic crisis, as historically it has been a much better currency when compared to the Euro and the GBP. Whether that is actually a good idea or not remains to be seen, as our government has been making all the wrong moves of late.
- w3ber, on 12/19/2008, -1/+1but but.. with what costs?
- c0st1k, on 12/19/2008, -3/+2successful troll is successful
