- DeFex, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13isn't there a rule that you are supposed to link directly to the actual page instead of to someones lame diary about it, People should be temp banned, and then perma banned for doing it again!
- joerod, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Great idea, this should be done in NYC as well!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6lol, good point. Conversely I would like to see one for Philadelphia.
- obsaysditto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6dugg for "This project was born out of boredom."
- darny, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The thing that makes this so genius is his program's ability to actually pull the data out of the CL posts. It's easy for a person to read a post and tell you where the apartment is and how much it costs but it's quite amazing for a computer to read through hundreds (maybe thousands) or non-standard posts and mine an address and rental fee out of each one. I am truly fascinated by this and would love to see or be involved in creating a website that culled data from CL and the NYT real estate boards and dropped it all into a map that I can roam around. It would make trying to find housing (to buy or rent) so much easier and more suited towards today's brain.
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Well it interests others so SHUT UP!
- WarpFox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You may have but I didn't. Some of us have other things to do.
Complain more please. - skrinak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You don't know boingboing. Go back to the site. It's got as much cred as digg.
- YacozA, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4we don't have houses here in canada, but it would be good to see home much a new igloo will cost me :P

- mstoneburner, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Typical day's boingboing posts:
1) YAARR evil people want to protect their intellectual propertyYAARRR! It's copyfight not copyright! Communism!
2) Oh look, poor people in some third world country built their own water treatment facility out of used condoms and chicken wire! Yay poor people!
3) WOW Look at this awesome Steampunk art object they only made six of them and they cost five thousand dollars!
4) Boy America sure is dumb huh?
5) Random Xeni Jardin post containing NSFW images. - mstoneburner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2My criticism of boingboing should not be construed as praise for Digg.
- ravencin, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1i think i love http://craigslistit.com
- wabbiteh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'll mostly agree with you on Boing Boing mstoneburner, but overlooking those unenjoyable bits, there are some real gems to be found. (As can be told by the ~100 bookmarks I have from boing boing so far)
- cutlerite, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Why did he not link straight to it? Because he was afraid digg would explode his server....
and it did. - ShooterMcGavin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1A local guy around here did kinda the same thing, but with available houses on the market. It is actually very cool and useful.
http://earthpoint.us/ - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's really a great job! Outer Richmond looks like your place ;)

- InfiniteNothing, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Cross compare the two to analyze where the next housing boom/burst is going to happen
- cerealrat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The link to the original wasn't working. Here's coral cache:

http://boston.internet.com/news/article.php/2001_391831 - j3one, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Yah those fancy "databases" are crashazy!
- fleshball, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Actually Pulling the data out is a real pain. (I wrote the webpage).
You know that actually about 30% of the addresses given do not geocode into real addresses?
beyond that, the amount of spam crap put into the SF lsitings is huge... so getting rid of that stuff takes a lot of effort.
A NY version of this is on the way... - psyjoniz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1awesome.
- teevee247, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1vs DIGG?
- iPhone is the greatest/worstest
- Microsoft is the sux0red

- And maybe the odd actual piece of tech. news every once and a while... - jollyholly, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2I think it is a pretty neat idea. It would be cool to compare all of the craigslist cities somehow.
Now sure why you didn't link to the actual thing.. http://mullinslab2.ucsf.edu/craigstats/ - revdan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0http://searchwarp.com/swa232762.htm
- ccurryman, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Can you make one of those for New York City?
- jamesallen74, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3How about using the word NON. Maybe you are NONE, as in the amount of intelligence you have.
- seanc6610, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Didn't I see this on digg yesterday?
- seandfeeney, on 10/10/2007, -11/+1Nice name... way to limit your outreach to san fran. have fun trying to expand
...nice idea though - bakkouz, on 10/10/2007, -28/+1Sorry, but as a None U.S Resident and a None user of Graiglist, this doesn't interest me at all :)
