- shupy, on 01/24/2009, -2/+18White trash can't afford Harley's. They are the toys of the white well-paid middle manager.
It shows that the bad economy is inching up the economic scale. - shupy, on 01/24/2009, -2/+16We will be feeling the pain of the Bush bungling for a long time. So the Pic of Bush is relevant.
- IndyDoug, on 01/24/2009, -0/+13Live to ride, Ride to the unemployment office.
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -5/+17yay less annoying, loud bikes.
- s4g4n, on 01/24/2009, -4/+15Does this mean less stupid Build Your Chopper series in Discovery channel?
- BoneStamp, on 01/24/2009, -0/+11Most people who switch to bikes because of high gas prices aren't likely going to buy a Harley.
- Dumbledorito, on 01/24/2009, -1/+9Then how come Lance Armstrong can still walk straight? :)
- TheBigBad, on 01/24/2009, -1/+9The less of the weekend, lifestyle riders I have to see, the better.
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -9/+16....This would be better without the semi-irrelevant picture of Former President Bush
- onClipEvent, on 01/24/2009, -2/+9it's called 'inferiority complex',....the louder the bike, the smaller the dick
- dorianG53, on 01/24/2009, -1/+8akchrs,
simple; the product... they're overweight (like most Harley riders), handle worth ***** and are grossly overpriced... to mention a few... any Honda, Kawi, Suzuki clone will out perform them in every way for less than half the price... and don't feed me that "made in America by Americans " crap - I've owned several HD bikes over the years - from vintage to modern and many of the 90's bikes have parts stamped "made in China" . I've been riding/dealing in bikes for over 40 years - many of them high performance racing machines that handle impeccably. Harley's are outdated dinosaurs ridden (mostly) by self-proclaimed flag-waving patriots (of ignorance)... M - Dumbledorito, on 01/24/2009, -0/+6Yes, motorcycles use less gas. But that Honda cycle or even a 150cc scooter will let you get that gas mileage (sometimes even better than a Harley) without paying more for your two-wheeler than you paid for your last car.
They're a premium-priced manufacturer, so if you're hard up enough that saving on gas is a goal, you're not going to shell out the extra benjamins so you can get that trademark "growl" when you start the engine. And gas prices have fallen recently, further making the high-end motorcycles less attractive. - Ne007, on 01/24/2009, -1/+7Good thing nobody asked me about this one because I would have thought business would have been thriving since last years crazy high gas prices.
I had to pay to take the test for the motorcycle classes because all the free classes were full for months.
I guess Harley is projecting good gas prices this summer...plus the fact that nobody is going to have any money except the bankers. - xedd, on 01/24/2009, -1/+6He doesn't appeal to me. Never has. I voted against him every chance I got, and I ride a Harley.
Your stereotype fails. - inactive, on 01/24/2009, -1/+6I lost respect for HD when they tried to patent the sound of their archaic v-twins.
- Harbinger67, on 01/24/2009, -0/+5Harley riders are a different bunch from most of the motorcycling world.
They rarely wear proper riding gear, rarely have any real training on a bike (if they even have a lisence), and do all sorts of fun things like drinking at poker runs and bike rallies and then try to ride home.
Don't let your experiences with those chrome-humping idiots tarnish your view of motorcycling as a whole. - inactive, on 01/24/2009, -1/+6During these hard times 40 years old men and their mid life crisis's are looking for and extra job not and extra hog.
- skin, on 01/24/2009, -1/+6Damn. I live and bartend in Milwaukee and there is a guy that works at Harley that comes in almost daily, drinks a ton, and leaves me a nice tip. Hopefully he finds another source of income soon, beyond the giving me lots of money he is a nice guy.
- barnrk, on 01/24/2009, -3/+8Just goes to show that you can't sell an inferior product at exorbitant prices in this economy, no matter how cool it looks and sounds.
- sv650touring, on 01/24/2009, -0/+4Honda Goldwings are quality bikes, and are *actually* built in America. H-D just waves the flag while getting their parts from overseas.
- alais, on 01/24/2009, -1/+5why would it?
- inactive, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3A lot of Harley bashers here. I'm guessing most don't even ride a motorcycle to begin with. My current Harley will be my last since I do think they are overpriced for what you get...but at least I can speak from experience. You wannabees need to head back to the video game forums and post about something you have some semblance of knowledge about.
Good thing being an idiot isn't a digg TOS violation. Most of you would be gone. - sv650touring, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3Don't forget that most Harley riders don't wave back to riders on non-Harleys because they're too busy trying to look like a tough guy.
- RedHeadedFreak, on 01/24/2009, -3/+6White trash are poor, uneducated white people. In order to afford a Harley, you need to be an upper-middle class, educated person of any color. Please get a clue.
Edit: yeah what the guy above me said. - altgeeky1, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3Ditto. That's just offensive and ignorant. Do you live in a bubble? Please, think before you speak.
And no, I'm not white trash; I've even been known to make redneck jokes. Not a Harley owner either (though I wish I could afford one). - uptwolait, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3I'm actually shocked the HD craze lasted this long.
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -1/+4Wow. Not a social person, are you?
- cubicledrone, on 01/24/2009, -3/+6Harley Davidson makes some of the finest motorcycles on the planet. You get what you pay for.
- tomharrow, on 01/24/2009, -1/+4hope it doesn't affect buell ... love my city-x and can't wait for new models
- BlatheringIdiot, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3yeah- they want something reliable and inexpensive. Something you wouldn't mind leaving at the train station while you commute. Ain't gonna leave no Harley there...
- dorianG53, on 01/24/2009, -0/+3Thats exactly the kind of response I would expect from someone such as yourself.... what's the matter - can't read or simply can't articulate a thought that in any way, shape or form would be a response to anything I stated.
Yup - you're a class act... - TheBigBad, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3I am social, just not with the douchebags who ride their Harleys on the weekends decked out in their Harley boots, Harley jeans, Harley shirts, Harley jackets, Harley sunglasses, Harley do rag, wearing their chrome half helmets with the "If you can read this the bitch fell off" sticker, all congregating at the local IHOP or Bob Evans acting like they can kick the world's ass when in actuality that overpriced technological dinosaur they ride will get absolutely smoked by ANY 10 year old, run of the mill, stock rice rocket that cost 1/4 as much.
- Harbinger67, on 01/24/2009, -1/+3Overpriced /= high end.
- TimDigg, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2"In order to afford a Harley, you need to be an upper-middle class, educated person of any color"
You obviously haven't called a plumber recently... - cubicledrone, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2"Mid life crisis" is envy-speak for "successful adult."
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2blech
- altgeeky1, on 01/24/2009, -1/+3Harleys get poor milage... less than what a good econo-car gets. I'd expect more than 42mpg on a bike...
They COULD design scooters and MPG bikes, but the company infrastructure and management culture are very bulky and slow: high margin, high profit, and high labor cost to build. It would be like GM deciding to go after Toyota.
Best econo-bike right now gets 118 MPG, and that's a 49cc Yamaha C3 (FX50). Despite the low CC, it's 4 stroke and fuel injected and has enough pep you can drive it on normal city roads here in the Northeast. This is an area where the SUV population think it's OK to honk loudly at pedal bikers for not riding in the ditch, if not yell out the window at you. - shaka776, on 01/25/2009, -1/+3wow, lots of haters on the site tonight...
- hwy9nightkid, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2fant0m, loud pipes for safety is the stupidest excuse ever. you can't honestly believe that is the real reason you have them
if that was the case you'd strap a noise machine that farts (same sound) everywhere you went. - TheBigBad, on 01/24/2009, -2/+4And environmentally friendly. All the oil they leak seeps back into the ground and can be re-extracted.
- mattmcegg, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2holla at that tosa baby!!!! sucks for HD though :(
- sv650touring, on 01/24/2009, -2/+4The only people who think Harley makes "fine" motorcycles, are people who are basing that judgement on shininess.
A Harley is just the main part of a costume that grown people put on and parade around town with whenever they crave attention. - adkenc, on 01/24/2009, -0/+2@ TheBigBad - Probably means North East / New England,
*pedal - HTOstatus, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1'Tosa Represent!!
- fant0m, on 01/24/2009, -0/+1Facts/sources, please?
Have you ever been to a Harley rally? Or do you just judge people and base your opinions on what you see on TV? - stevelectric, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Ne007- Harley's costing $20,000 are just as dependent on credit as the Detroit auto makers. We were reading about Ronald Reagan the other day and the Congress of that time passed a law limiting the number of big Japanese motorcycles that could be imported, that saved the company from the foreign manufacturers "dumping' their big bikes at a loss in the American market.

The Obama Stimulus Plan has an Electric Car component but John McCain says he is going to vote against it:
http://rebuildtheparty.ning.com/forum/topics/john- ... - inactive, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1This coming from a guy who no doubt doesn't ride a Harley? Ride one, get to know other riders and then spout your *****. Until then, STFU and talk about whatever little you do know.
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Well put.
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Nah. They're actually much better made than your Suzuki.
- inactive, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1I don't know why the hell you posted that. It's not even tangential. It's completely out of nowhere and has no relevancy to the conversation what-so-ever. Aside from all of that, it WAS funny.
