- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1because the taxes have been cut so low (no state income tax for example) that the entire florida DOT's budget is around $0.14/year. it's gotten to the point that rarely will any road work (even mantainance) be done on anything but toll roads-- and the only thing they do to the toll roads is add more toll lanes and toll booths.
there have been rumors of hig-speen trains since 1998, but nothing has ever come of it since every bid has been outrageous, and the only ones that even get considered will only ever serve florida's since-vanished tourist population. the only way they could sell it to the state legislature was to portray it is a racket to be used on the tourists (like the chunnel between london and paris), but since tourism is all but dead here, no one has any interest in anything--- most of all helping out the residents. after all, jeb bush is the governor, and why would he do anything that would cost the state money and necessitate the institution and increase of taxes? - FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1awesome. i live in orlando... i think we may have to connect the lines and see what we come up with!
