Advertisers will go with whoever delivers the best results, and with all the Google-sponsored spam and made for ads crap polluting the web I wouldn't expect profit doubling to become a habit. - nazsco, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6burried as SPAM
c'mon, i demand a google category, so i can remove it from my profile prefs, just like i did with the apple one. - benlundquist, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Its funny that this is on the front page and there is only one comment. Maybe everyone is in awe of Google, I am at least.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If Firefox was a woman half of digg users would lose their virginity. Or if Colbert was tied up.
- dpl_, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Cuz nobody will EVER get sick of ads....
- Ashex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3dugg just for the sillyness of such an idea.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how many Digg'ers are not skeptical about the YouTube acquisition. If Google was a country half the Digg'ers here would move their, kids and all, and stick their flags all over the place like Texans do. Silly Google Fan Boys.
- Ironcitizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Google is the new Microsoft. They had to buy Youtube. It was doing far better than Google video. If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.
- AmishRefugee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2anyone else think google may need that profit to deal with the imminent gootube legal fallout?
although they are certainly doing what they can for now to stop that - mickaloha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Do you or anyone you know click on the ads? I know of no one that click on the ads? Where do they get their numbers that this is actually working? Is it just for the ads being seen like they would be on TV? I can't believe that there is that much money to be made in ads when they don't seem to pay off. Apparently I am missing something.
Better yet, I will start my own online advertising site and make .1% of the amount that google makes. I can live off that. Who wants to join up? - frostyelf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I agree that thats funny. I was really shocked.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Personally, I think that the stock is way over-hyped (and overpriced), thanks to the wall street analysts. Most of the solid companies are valued in the market for a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio between 10 and 20 (GE:21 IBM:15.5 ExxonMobil:11 Microsoft:23). For every buck they make as revenue, the market thinks they are worth 10-20 bucks.
Google trades at a P/E of more than 60! That is almost impossible to justify - and every time there is some good news about the company, the analysts are just way too happy that *maybe* their estimate of the company's worth is correct. On the other hand, every time there is some bad news about the time, like it happened in January, there is panic in general and the stock value plummets all of a sudden.
I accept that doubling a quarters' profit is extremely good news. I just hope that the growth in their revenue model is sustainable. Otherwise, such high speculation is almost always recipe for large scale disaster. - rhettnyedotorg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah google is evil. boooooooo!!!!!
but i still wish i bought stock just before this info was made public. - milomilomilo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Its been said before but, google will soon be far larger, due to youtube. They will start video advertising, and timetag in video.
When an addd company attempts to take on a software firm and insists they will archive the internet entirely, I give it 10 years before google brings us the web based OS, just log into the google server to access your computer, where the processing is handled on their end, and you simply pay a subscription.
Not so far fetched. Anybody remember os8 being emulated for users on a remote server.
Google will run the world. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2google will run my nutsack.
j/k I love you Google don't erase me off the the face of Google Earth! - milomilomilo, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1bury.
