- chevyorange, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Shoot, I really wanted to buy my Charger R/T Hemi. I guess I'll save another year and wait for the Volt.
- zerobriers, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Time to get my bike tuned up.
- HafizD, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2The prices are ridiculous. On the bright side, at least it encourages people to find alternate methods of transportation and pollute less.
- pappy1271, on 05/14/2008, -0/+0The oil is there, but since the USA has not increased its production in oil refinery in 20 years we have been put in a major bind. I am all for find alternatives, but in the mean time we need to find ways to increase refinery capacity.
- FairISFare, on 05/14/2008, -0/+0This is quite a balanced article. The only piece of information that WIRED didn't quantify which would've been helpful is how wrong the argument of the value of the dollar versus the price of oil is. I read in another article that while gas prices have risen 80%, during that same period the dollar only fell 10%. Perhaps it is a combination of everything discussed.
Another point that was brought out on The Daily Show (yes, he does invite smart people on the show) is that we're experiencing the culmination of globalization. Where we experienced the positive effects early on with cheaper products, the USA is now dealing with surging prices as other country's economies have developed and grown and are now becoming competitive, while still currently inefficient. I believe that there will be some ebbing in the economies of the world, but that doesn't equate to lower gas prices.
