- michaelpinto, on 03/06/2009, -1/+16GM woes are just bad for the nation - if they tank it's going to be bad news.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+10Very nice content and this should reach the front page so that everybody can be aware off.
- lordmike, on 03/07/2009, -0/+6I'm glad people here are starting to realize that... Too many people are joyfully eager to, "Let GM fail"... well, GM is interconnected to the rest of the economy on so many levels...
- gamr, on 03/07/2009, -1/+4What do you expect when both efficiency has been fought against and research has been unfunded for 20 years?
It takes a long time for research to come from universities and finally make it into products. It's not surprising that the US is screwed for only recognizing the need a couple of years ago. - xmaschimp, on 03/07/2009, -2/+4Definitely illustrates how the auto trouble is linked to so much more economic trouble, and makes the whole auto (and banking) situation so much more scary...
- refreshers, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2Because this is digg
- inactive, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2I don't even own a car but that doesn't change the fact a business is not a charity. GM failed to do anything right at all. So I don't want my tax dollars supporting a bunch of have been losers. Are you going to pay my check if I open a business and make all the wrong moves?
- rugliner21, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2Again, auto industry woes are up, the comments are "its about time". Perfect example of a beginner learning how to drive a stick-shift, stripping the gears out. Are we serious about new energy?? Or is it just "let's tear down the economic system in this country". Mr. Pickens asked Al Gore very good and serious questions, that did not get answers.
- jcaino, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2Just because you haven't seen or driven any alternative-fueled products of theirs doesn't mean they aren't doing research. Remember the EV-1? That wasn't their first foray either, just one of the public ones.
- DirtyVicar, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2"But GM, teetering on the verge of bankruptcy, didn't pony up any dough. GM had announced its original investment in Coskata back in January, 2008."
What dough? GM lost 30.8 billion last year and has minus $91 billion in assets. What bank in its right mind is lending GM money for them to invest with? Does Coskata think it's even going to get paid? - redxii, on 03/07/2009, -1/+2Good, and only then will the Hummer die..
- przemeklach, on 03/07/2009, -2/+3You would think that they would be pumping money into research such as alternative fuels not freezing funding. Part of the reason they are in this mess is becaues they haven't been doing research and when big gas guzzlers went out of fashion they had nothing else to sell.
- phylum, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1ummm, i think they need to be in business first.
- IVillageIdiot, on 05/06/2009, -0/+1Boycott ALL government owned companies.
The Socialist ONLY win if they survive. If you buy a government manufactured vehicle, the union keeps collecting dues and handing them to the Socialist. Your taxes (“bailouts“), your loan (buying a gvt car), your income (your payments) will fund an ever stronger Socialist machine, which will continue to collectivize until you are faced with ALL companies being owned by government, their goal.
--We must strangle this infant in it's crib - JamesK, on 03/07/2009, -1/+2In the meantime millions of people will be out of a job, evicted from their homes, crime will spike and children will go hungry. I hate GM as much as the next guy but would a little humanity for your fellow Americans be too much to ask?
Would not getting a new Mercedes every year be unbearable for you? - lordmike, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1Who's going to make that solar collector?
- kdor, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1Al Gore refuses to debate anyone. It does not matter who. Empty suit with emptier ideas he cannot support. He's just trying to hold onto his do nothing carbon credit goldmine until Obama can push through the regulations that will really make him some money. Talk about a cynical capitalist.
- mountianweb1, on 03/10/2009, -0/+1Sadly, BK has become the only option for GM, too many bad management decisions and too may bad union contracts. Taxpayers should not have to pay for stupidity of this company....
- inactive, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1Lack of anything else to say?
- cadon35, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1Look at the $$ of a GM bond compared to other companies just before they went bankrupt.. GM is going bankrupt. I would bet my lower colon on it.
- Arthere, on 05/06/2009, -0/+1GM woes...........
http://www.creditcardassociate.com/gm.html - inactive, on 03/07/2009, -2/+3***** GM. An aging dinosaur that failed to keep with the times. Good riddance to them and the union, may they be buried together in a paupers grave.

--We must strangle this infant in its crib - inactive, on 03/07/2009, -2/+2Let 'em fail! They have built nothing but crappy plastic boxes on wheels for decades. They deserve and should fail no matter the consequence, out of the ashes a new lean mean clean green machine will arise.
- loltuter, on 03/10/2009, -0/+0gm is one of the best
http://diyskate.blogspot.com - feckineejit, on 03/07/2009, -2/+2Forget them, and forget Biofuels - they are just as polluting as petroleum products. Forget corporations too - everybody get their own solar collector and be self sufficient.
- Sparker1981, on 03/07/2009, -1/+0Off the subject, but more money and research needs to be put into hydrogen fueled cars.
- organik, on 03/07/2009, -1/+0Yeah...that's not exactly true. Corn Ethanol is a terrible idea, inefficient. Algae Biodiesel on the other hand, is a fantastic clean energy choice for the MILLIONS of diesel engines that already power, well, almost everything.
Highly recommend you watch FUEL the movie.
