Food rise has Bolivia's coca farmers planting rice
news.yahoo.com — Bolivian President Evo Morales is now asking coca farmers to supplement their crops with rice and corn as a way of holding down coca production while helping to feed South America's poorest country. Rice will have to compete with rising demand for cocaine in Brazil and Europe, both top destinations for Bolivian products.

This is exactly what happened in Afghanistan, and is the main reason the US invaded Afghanistan. If you question this, do some reading. Today Afghanistan's cocaine crop is at record levels, and the CIA is once again happy that their main supplier is back on production quotas.
