- twertyto, on 02/24/2009, -1/+35That's nothing my job offered me a no day work week. I'm loving it but I think they forgot to send my last paycheck.
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -0/+23Who Hooo! 4 day Weekend!
- HairyLikeBear, on 02/24/2009, -0/+16You're gonna have to go ahead and talk to payroll about that.
- Laura201, on 02/24/2009, -2/+17Quick, start a petition for universal 3 business days/ week for the same yearly salary.
- lazybuoy, on 02/24/2009, -0/+14I'll take a 3 workday week for reduced pay. Actually, I'll take almost anything right now.
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -0/+12Uhh, they're not getting the same salary.
- HippyJM, on 02/24/2009, -0/+12If you were able to work 3 days a week and retain full benefits, this would be a gift for some parents. I know parents where 1 parent works for 2 reasons, benefits and maintain income to cover child care because they have to be at work. If these parents can stay home and not have to pay someone to watch their children and be covered, that would be great.
- Benjigga, on 02/24/2009, -0/+12I've been working 3 12 hour shifts for years now. I absolutely love it. It always seemed like 8 hour shifts still took up a whole day, but a 12 hour shift makes it so I can have 4 days off. It's absolutely wonderful. I'm dreading the day I might have to go back to 4 10's or 5 8's.
- hasslinthehoff, on 02/24/2009, -0/+12Much preferable to just firing people, since that only exacerbates our situation. Would be nice if all companies did this instead of just a handful.
- CoD4, on 02/24/2009, -0/+6So the world is finally accepting my 3 day work week i see
- pstroll, on 02/24/2009, -1/+6If I subtract out the time on goofing off I am at around a 4 hr work week
- BeSublime, on 02/24/2009, -0/+5Not really that revolutionary, WIRED talked about it in an article last year...

Either way, sign me up! - REBECCAFRIEDMAN, on 02/24/2009, -1/+6This is taking furloughs to a whole new level....
- yarcod, on 02/24/2009, -0/+5RTFA
- sjbdallas, on 02/24/2009, -0/+5That would be great because then i'd have time to work that second job i'd need.
- krymson, on 02/24/2009, -0/+5this is a good f'in idea.
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -0/+5no 3 days work for only 3 days pay, but you are still a "full time employee"
- rz8472, on 02/24/2009, -0/+4This is what a lot of Japanese companies are doing right now. Instead of "screw you, you're fired", they are offering their employees reduced workweeks so that they will be able to make some kind of living.
- Pishposh30, on 02/24/2009, -0/+3They are going to have to do the same amount of work, though.
- Trifold, on 02/24/2009, -0/+3You didn't get it.
- Treshnell, on 02/24/2009, -0/+3So..more time to spend money, but less money to spend vs less time to spend money, but more money to spend...
- simpletonian, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2This has been going in Asia for the last couple of months. Most manufacturing industries in Asia which worked round the clock, now work only for three days a week or less.
- bri719, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2I already have somewhat reduced pay this year so I'll take it too.
I'm salaried worker (the point of being salary is that you're salary = steady income!) and still feeling the pinch. as if it weren't bad enough I already work 9+ hours a day and get paid for 8. - J0hnnyBlaze, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2Tron is living!...For the Citayyy!!!
- drgmdp, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2i work 3 times a week, 11 hour shifts (i work at night). once you optimize your sleep time, having the whole week days free it's the best thing in the world..
- specialK16, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2***** is cash.
Everyone in my department works 3 days a week, with 4 days every two weeks.
Except.......
me. - OiPunk, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2-------------<joke>------------>
(evisr8r's head) - GlobalGizmo, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2Atleast the FT is trying to work with their employees and not just lay them off. I wish that more companies would try and think up some alternative solution to layoffs before resorting to them. With the unemployment issues today, everyone needs to compensate a little bit and should be grateful for just simply having some type of job in the first place.
- MtheoryX, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1Yeah, but that last day off has got to be a bitch, knowing what you're going back into at the start of your workweek.
- treehugger87, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1Given the profound efficiency of the modern worker and the improvements technology has made in our being productive, employers should be begging us to come in 3 days a week and we should all be saying, "naw, 2 is enough."
- ChelseaBlacker, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1but because of the economy isnt it harder to find thar 2nd job? unless you're into entrepreneurship like bonnycap said!
- moraldebate, on 02/24/2009, -1/+2When your girlfriend starts having sex with you three times a week instead of five, do you think she's revolutionized your love life?
- perrym, on 02/24/2009, -1/+2i wonder if this is wise now the WSJ is expanding their europe operations in a large way.
this could prove beneficial to News Corp (parent company of Dow Jones - owner of the WSJ, if you didnt know) - FXNGLAS, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1So you only work 36 hours a week vs 40. I don't see where losing 4 hours of pay a week by working more hours per day is a benefit. For most people that can qualify for OT, you need at least 40 hours.
- bri719, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1My thought exactly. I've done that enough however, I'd use the rest of the time starting my own gig from home part time.
- nicko68, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1I'd rather work 3 days and keep my job and hopefully ride out this recession than lose it and get severance or unemployment which may run out before things turn around
- HippyJM, on 02/26/2009, -0/+1It is more like your girlfriend saying 'Instead of you ***** me in the missionary position 5 times a week, we can have a threesome with my hot girl friend 3 times a week'.
- Barackalypse, on 02/25/2009, -0/+1What's revolutionary about cutting hours while also cutting pay? Revolutionary would be paying them the same for 3 days work.
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -1/+1Well I'll just ummm take that red stapler back. Thank you.
- SwampAss, on 02/24/2009, -1/+1seems fair since most ppl work about 4 hours a day. this way they force them to perform.
- rhoads83j, on 02/24/2009, -2/+1What a load of PR *****. Nobody wants to work 3 days a week right now.
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -1/+0Its a ***** trick to get people to quit.
No unemployment.
No severance.
Cant believe people fall for that Corporate propaganda *****.
Once they get you on the 3 day work week and you don't like it...then your trapped.
Time to find another job loser if you don't like are new rules. - wigenite, on 02/24/2009, -2/+0is this 3 13.3 hour days or what? I can see 4 10 hour days but the article doesnt give us anymore details.
- BonnyCap, on 02/24/2009, -2/+0good attitude, guy - and I think we need times like these to realize that there is nothing harder than making easy money - in other words: entrepreneurship - even on a small scale - is what brings you over the hard times and is able to adjust fast. While politics were all making ko taus to big industry and big + bigger financial institutions - this is where it got us praying to the wrong Gods!!
http://eerietravelsecrets.com - evisr8r, on 02/24/2009, -5/+0Yes... basically working 9am to 10pm most likely
