  • mariyia, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1I believe President Carter predicted an energy shortage many years ago when he was president. I think he tried to enact certain legislation to prevent this, I am however not familiar with the specifics. I think there is still time for a solution. Besides changing current legislation to allow permission for oil companies to drill on new sites here in USA, we also need a government that works together to approve legislation to promote alternate new forms of energy. If this happens perhaps the next few decades can then be known as the Energy Revolution because it would be great for both the environment and our economy. For example I envision a society where everyone will drive a hybrid, new gas/battery stations will be needed, all building permits will require buildings to have solar power, wind power, and or geothermal systems for heating and cooling.
