  • joechip, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2The whole story, being a member of the LD community, is that the Treasury Dept. had filed a law suit against NORFED last year making claims about the legality of their currency. To my knowledge the LD has never been marketed as a substitute for the USD in terms of it being a 'coin' or legal tender. It was intended to be nothing more than a private, voluntary alternative to the US Dollar. In my dealings with them over the past 4 years I've never had an order unfulfilled, certificates not redeemed or anything but receiving in return that which I paid for.

    It will be interesting to see how this plays out, as once they got big enough to be a problem, the Gov't came in and shut them down.

    Frankly, I'm shocked it happened now, as it seemed to me that they had the lawsuit with the UST under control, but at the same time I'm not surprised either.
