- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think the main benefit I'd be interested in is spending less than 70 hours in the office per week.
- Neticule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Maybe come out with some better games, or do not force games out before they are ready and maybe your stock wouldnt fall 18% I havent seen many good things come out of EA for quite some time now, it used to be 75% of the games I played would pop up EA Games (Challenge Everything!) but not anymore...
- vertinox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hrm... You mean a stock plan like Enron? I'm kind of leary these days when my employer wants me to buy more company stock.
- mike2312, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg just because people need to realize that the bigger EA gets and the more companies they buy the fewer inventive, engaging games will be created. EA will only create "safe" games, games are guaranteed a profit. The bigger they get the more sequels you get! Don't buy from EA!
- Wildthing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1From TFA: "EA decided to offer employees full shares of stock in the company to replace the currently valueless options" From my understanding most companies (the ones you want to work for anyway) will re-adjust employees' options in some way if they go too far under. An important lesson for you all: options are worthless if your stock doesn't go up. Go with RSU's or higher wage if you can.
- Vektuz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really hope EA dies.
Their way of doing business does harm to the industry as a whole, and results in an endless stream of buggy crap thats sequel after sequel after sequel of "sure hit" - kenpratt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Uhh, emiminja, there is a large intramural soccer league, and the field gets used a good chunk of every day all summer (and more in the winter then I would expect from Vancouver weather). And the gym is *very* busy. Many people like to work out/play soccer during the day, to break up the work -- especially if they are putting in long hours.
I'm not excusing EA for any policies or work standards, but that is just blatantly wrong. Maybe you lived across the street during the recent construction, when nobody played soccer because the field was, well, under construction... - monergism, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had some options with one company. They were offered at $16 a share and the next day went to $14. It is now, 6.5 years later, and it's now $14.5 a share.
Stocks are nice but you normally need a lot of money or inside info to get any decent profit. - Smeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes I agree, they would do better if they made better games. Especially in the PC game market, all of their games are buggy as hell.
- emiminja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0frickng sweatshop. they're office is right across the street from where i live and it's a joke. they have a soccer field and gym. all propaganda. i have NEVER seen ANYONE using it. it makes the outsiders think that it's such a great place to work. but why would you want to work out/play soccer when you are expected to put in 13 hour work days?
