Diversity training doesn't work. Here's why.
raceintheworkplace.com — Many diversity trainers don ’t push people to challenge their own racist beliefs. Instead, the seminars teach people to be more aware of the non-verbal cues (the fancy word is “microinequities”) they send out that may tip others off to their racism. The philosophy is: hide your racism in order to create a more harmonious workplace.

- MagicToenail, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Because true diversity refers to the color of your skin. Rascist hypocrites.
- carlyle27, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Quite interesting and to the point
- spearce, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"Hi, I'm Michael Scott. I'm in charge of Dunder Mifflin Paper Products here in Scranton, Pennsylvania. But I'm also the founder of Diversity Tomorrow, because 'today is almost over.' Abraham Lincoln once said that 'If you're a racist, I will attack you with the North.' And those are the principles that I carry with me in the workplace. "
- cmod1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0The "training people to hide their racism" hit the nail on the head!
- jasebee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0You're exactly right. I am African American male who attended one of these diversity training classes that our department had for all of us. Blacks felt they were obligated to share their experiences and be co-teachers to the Whites and Hispanics, to a lesser extent in the class. Sure enough, one could hear the Whites grousing about how the class was a waste of time (code: we're not racists, why are we here?). The reality is that it was a Black female who had a tendency of going off on customers regardless of color. However, she ***** off the wrong person and we all ended up in diversity training.
