- AFelsinger, on 10/22/2008, -7/+79A little part of me hopes they all go under.
- AmyVernon, on 10/22/2008, -5/+71Nooooo! Not Krispy Kreme!
- Cancerkitty, on 10/22/2008, -8/+57Man, I hope whoever it is that makes Hot Pockets makes it through this harsh economic climate.
- granolajoe, on 10/22/2008, -1/+44I would welcome the fall of Eddie Bauer. Awful, yet expensive fashion going under? Sounds awesome to me.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -2/+39Lean Pocket : Vegetarian hot pocket for those who don't want to eat meat but still want Diarrhea.
- ohnoerino, on 10/22/2008, -1/+38Jim Gaffigan would be really sad...Hoottt Poocckets
- pitchblack16, on 10/22/2008, -0/+32Krispy Kreme seems to have been on a decline for a awhile now, they're lucky to have survived as long as they did... great donuts though.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+30I can cook Hot Pockets.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+26Unless you are already an out of work criminal. It's an exciting time for me.
- Ricochetbiscuit, on 10/22/2008, -0/+25I see the Jet Blue log there... Man, I sure hope it's not Jet Blue. That airline rocks and it would just awful if they went out of biz.
- ProfessorSYM, on 10/22/2008, -2/+26Any company that stays afloat on credit alone is just about destined to fail, especially when everyone is playing with imaginary money to begin with.
- AmyVernon, on 10/22/2008, -1/+24I hate to admit it, but I kind of agree with you....
- AManWithNoName, on 10/22/2008, -0/+23I hope Six Flags goes under...an abandoned theme park would be a perfect place for urban exploration.
- SethEllis, on 10/22/2008, -1/+22They forgot the most important company on the rocks right now:
AMD - ProfessorSYM, on 10/22/2008, -1/+21Don't worry, Satan isn't going to go bankrupt any time soon.
- lucy22, on 10/22/2008, -0/+17Thats is a good sound for the companies failing: Crunch!
It is a bad time. Some will make it. - faceless323, on 10/22/2008, -4/+20I love Sbarro's...well I dont love it but its decent pizza when you're on the go
- fuxxx, on 10/22/2008, -3/+16And the big elephant in the room is the fact that Bush has actually been president for the past eight years.
- citizenrobot, on 10/22/2008, -0/+13Oh *****, Sbarros! But where will I get super substandard pizza the next time I'm at the mall? No seriously! It's a weird secret guilty pleasure of mine.
- Peko, on 10/22/2008, -0/+12Or budget slasher films.
Oh! Urban exploration turned slasher film!
"Teeheehee - we're a group of 16 year old cute girls up to no good! Let's explore this abandoned amusement park but let's do it right, by isolating members of our group one at a time! I hope that weirdo stalker ex-amusement park guy we texted for a joke isn't following us with power tools, that would like so suck." - 5xSTUN, on 10/22/2008, -0/+12Bailouts for some, miniature American flags for others.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+11Yes, because tens of thousands of people losing jobs is always fun and a worthy trade off after you've had a few bad experiences.
- diggdiggerid, on 10/22/2008, -2/+13are you a corporation? why do you want them to be treated so well and not people? corporations are legal *****. they are FICTIONAL PEOPLE based on the most bizarre interpretation of the 14th amendment. I don't think corporations should have any rights whatsoever, much less lower taxes than real people.
Sincerely,
American Conservatives Who Believe in Individual Rights - reichec, on 10/22/2008, -0/+10After years of $5 12 ounce sodas, and $7 slices of pizza, I will be sad to see six flags go.
- ProfessorSYM, on 10/22/2008, -6/+16A bigger part of you will hate it when mass layoffs occur and crime skyrockets as a result.
- lisaawesome, on 10/23/2008, -0/+10Dude if they go under who is going to feed all the stoner kids at 2am?
- financedude2, on 10/22/2008, -1/+10Dear Public,
Please don't look at our effective tax rate, because you'd be disgusted. - ScottMitchell, on 10/22/2008, -0/+9Careful lest you want to offend the 45-57 year old, white, upper middle class, outdoorsy, junior level executive demographic.
- zdiggler, on 10/23/2008, -0/+9I'm in Vermont/New Hampshire area lots of mom and pop places.. like the place I work at, very stress free place to work, better then any higher paying corporate job I ever had!
- mattrazzo, on 10/22/2008, -0/+9Sure all these place will go out of business, but good thing we saved the wooden practice arrows industry!
- dafragsta, on 10/23/2008, -0/+9mom and pop places don't make light fluffy glazed donuts that dissolve in your mouth. Sometimes the corporate jerks do it better. Look at Cinnabon
- Daedalos, on 10/23/2008, -0/+9@ Kohaxx - ...until they no longer make 10.50 an hour at Eddie Bauer and their buddies at Sbarro are no longer there to give them free pizza.
- lisaawesome, on 10/22/2008, -0/+8My favorite company already went out of business last week. I sure wish I had a job now...
- WatchDragon, on 10/22/2008, -0/+8if anything Krispy Kreme needs a bailout, not AIG or something, where in the world am i gonna get doughnuts?
- BeShirtHappy, on 10/22/2008, -4/+12I just bought a dozen of Krispy Kreme donuts this morning - Yummy!
- chanop, on 10/22/2008, -2/+10AMD wants to build a huge manufacturing plan in upstate NY. NY wants to foot a lot of the bill to create jobs. When I read about that in my local newspaper I facepalmed
- inbyronwetrust, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7I agree, however Jet Blue has had financial problems long before the stock market crash.
- hangtown2004, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7Guess its time to get back to giving the customer a good deal.
- GoKings, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7JetBlue?! Noooooooooooooooo... I love that airline...
- Rioracer916, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7Have you ever been to one? Enough said...
- Waaaaalt, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7My favorite New York pizza joint...
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -1/+7I could very easily...in fact...I'd RATHER live without any and all of those companies. Finally, an optimistic article from Time.
- Typhoon2009, on 10/23/2008, -1/+7who the ***** still eats at sbarro?
- zdiggler, on 10/23/2008, -0/+6I drive 20 min further to fly jet blue. Having real TV is better then internet on the plane!
- Rioracer916, on 10/23/2008, -0/+6Exactly, I used to work at a large public accounting firm in the tax department.
Corporations: "Whine whine whine, oh no we have a 35% tax burden... but an effective tax rate of 1-2%"
I kid you not, we really worked magic to shrink those tax liabilities. Too bad, as an individual, I was taxed the full 10% last year... - nanded, on 10/22/2008, -0/+6They should just increase the price, especially at airports. When I'm on a 3 hour layover and I need that endorphin releasing, artery clogging slice of pepperoni and sausage, I'm not standing in line thinking "Man, I really wouldn't buy this if it were 50 cents more expensive". It's more like "Hulk Hungry!!! Hulk want Trans-Fats!!"
- rich1659, on 10/23/2008, -1/+7How dare you insult Taco Bell.
- Rioracer916, on 10/23/2008, -0/+5Actually, this crisis is a great opportunity for a career change.
I mean if the US government can't find a terrorist mastermind/ dialysis patient on foot in Afghanistan; And the FBI is already saying they are overwhelmed with financial fraud cases. An amateur criminal could really clean up, relatively risk free.
Crisitunity!
...not that I would do anything like that...of course... - ziggyone, on 10/22/2008, -1/+6We have one of the highest tax rates for corporations in the world. State and Federal are taxed separately and typically exceed 40% combined.
