- CurtHowland, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3Asking a Democrat to cut taxes is crazy.
Asking a Republican to cut spending is crazy.
That's why the "two party system" works so well. Each feeds off the failings of the others constituency. - sixthchild, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2I would hardly describe it as working well! I hope there is an amount of sarcasm in this part of your statement, given that you have "two party system" in quotes.
- paulotto2007, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1"The only nations who have a higher corporate tax rate than America are Suriname, Pakistan, Togo, Benin, Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Chad, Libya, and Vietnam." I wonder how many American's know this?
The Democrats and Republicans represent two different versions of big corporate power - not just any "big" corporation - but "politically well connected" big corporate power. I often ask myself if these politically connected and so-called capitalists are really working for the government, or if the government is their agent instead?
Free market economy? Where?
They tickle each other with dignity and grace, eh? - MnoruS, on 07/10/2008, -0/+0Democrats and Republicans are pretty much the same.
Anyways, I'm assuming the 1.1% growth rate would also include a cut in government spending? The article doesn't say, but that's what I think would be logical.
