- inactive, on 01/15/2009, -6/+163Wow I had no idea KFC was based in the Congo
- deaconyermouf, on 01/15/2009, -0/+88How is it that GE isn't on here?
- kouchan21, on 01/15/2009, -3/+84buried for
- 2003
- data randomly disposed on a generic world map
- false impression that every big corporation is listed - tacojohn48, on 01/15/2009, -0/+73Adding something like GE or WalMart to this wouldn't allow it to be done in two dimensions.
- deaconyermouf, on 01/15/2009, -5/+68(racist comment)
- Slackluster, on 01/15/2009, -1/+57Seriously would be more effective without unrelated map in background.
- chrissku, on 01/15/2009, -9/+58Nice job putting KFC over Africa. Racist bastard.
/kidding - Shaggy3, on 01/15/2009, -2/+42Kraft: All your snack foods are belong to us!
- cpw2n5, on 01/15/2009, -4/+38Anheuser Bush is now under InBev
- zabigypopel, on 01/15/2009, -3/+31Anheuser-Busch isn't quite right any more.
- memper, on 01/15/2009, -19/+471) Powerpoint Slide
2) A ton of poorly cropped corporate logos used without permission (but of course the creator claims copyright at the bottom)
3) A big world map to make it look important, and "global"
4) Profit???
I hope this piece of garbage doesn't end up in the next powerpoint deck I am forced to sit through. - godofwar3142, on 01/15/2009, -1/+28background map is pointless.
- normlsparky, on 01/15/2009, -2/+23I would like to see an image like this that shows the parent companies of the MSM in the USA. I've heard that the cable news networks (and possibly other news sources) are owned by larger companies that have investments in companies that do business with the US military.
- skjalff, on 01/15/2009, -0/+20if it's from 2003 then why am i looking at it in 2009?
- DodgerJJ, on 01/15/2009, -0/+20I know it's from 2003, but so many brands on this list have changed hands since then that it makes the whole thing a bit worthless. I would love to see an updated one though.
- freeridstylee, on 01/15/2009, -0/+17I have a feeling that the world map in the background is more or less irrelevant.
- boardthis, on 01/15/2009, -0/+17use the legend young skywalker
- TheThirdWheel, on 01/15/2009, -3/+18It's easy to see what companies own cable stations and networks, they are all easy to follow and there is no shady business at all. Take NBC for example, GE owns KitchenAll of Colorado which intern ownsJMI of Stanford, which is a majority share holder of pokerfastlane.com which recently aquired the Shinhardt Wig Company, which owns NBC outright.
- Aleman360, on 01/15/2009, -0/+14GE would be massive...
Their divisions include NBC Universal, GE Infrastructure, GE Healthcare, etc. Each of which has bought/owns several other companies. - brimg87, on 01/15/2009, -1/+13No GE?
- DiggMasterJ, on 01/15/2009, -0/+11They own all of it.
- bobjrn2, on 01/15/2009, -0/+10Now we need one citing connections to government officials & contracts.
- falkonv7l, on 01/15/2009, -0/+10DaimlerChrysler? I think this is a little old.
- miggyb, on 01/15/2009, -3/+12You tried to use a meme and failed.
- boardthis, on 01/15/2009, -2/+11who's the russian chick?
- Hockey13, on 01/15/2009, -1/+10Maybe the worst graphic I've ever seen. What does the map have anything to do with with the logos? Why is this so outdated? Why are there glaring omissions? What criteria were used to create this?
Buried. - msgdealer, on 01/15/2009, -0/+9This map would be dramatically different if redrawn today.
- inactive, on 01/15/2009, -1/+10Diagram is crap.
- peteyb1313, on 01/15/2009, -0/+9that's why he said "any more"
- fireangl2041, on 01/15/2009, -1/+9old msaleem spam
- TruckStuff, on 01/15/2009, -1/+9/confused
- inactive, on 01/15/2009, -0/+8even from 2003.. where the hell is Volkswagen auto group?
- KibblesnBitts, on 01/15/2009, -2/+10So wait....Coca-Cola used to own Dr. Pepper, which is owned by Cadbury Schweppes, who owns 7UP, which was used to be owned by Pepsico
It's been a conspiracy this whole time!
Edit: Thanks boardthis for pointing me to the legend....I didn't think about actually looking at the bottom right of the screen - vegetables, on 01/15/2009, -2/+9Well, looks like my fingers are done typing. *****. CAN'T DO ANYTHING NOW.
- pitabun, on 01/15/2009, -2/+9They have cigarette makers but no Disney?
This map is seriously flawed, or Disney is not large enough to hold its own.
... I highly doubt that. - ironiridis, on 01/15/2009, -0/+6It's unfortunate how old this is. I'd love for News Corp. owning the Wall Street Journal to be depicted on here.
- weikerx, on 01/15/2009, -5/+11stupid News Corp. and Fox Network....
- drethedog, on 01/15/2009, -1/+7Virgin is loaded....
- alpinecow, on 01/15/2009, -0/+6yes.
- Gravey9, on 01/15/2009, -0/+6Make it smaller next time...
- madtiger, on 01/15/2009, -0/+6I like how Newscorp is minimized to a small section in the corner when they are one of the most wide-spread of the companies listed.
- normlsparky, on 01/15/2009, -0/+6I'm particularly interested in conflicts of interest. Say a parent corporation owns both NBC and Westinghouse (not that they do). Would the parent company allow NBC to run a negative story on the war that could interfere with a Westinghouse military contract worth millions or billions of dollars?
Here is a lighthearted view on the issue, although if there is any truth to it, it should be taken seriously:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbIvPhZ3IsQ - inactive, on 01/15/2009, -1/+6and THEY're getting financial help f/ the government?!
- freeridstylee, on 01/15/2009, -0/+5DiamlerChrysler isn't current either.
- HumanNouveau, on 01/15/2009, -0/+5A little lame when it includes "used to own" and "shares" without quantifying the amount of ownership. I'd be more interested to see a chart where weighted lines connect entities and the line weight reflects the amount of money that moves between accounts controlled by the various entities for, say, the past 5 years. Would be helpful to use line transparency to give an indication of how frequently/recently money has changed hands.
- TheManikin, on 01/15/2009, -5/+10Dugg for Michael Jackson in Bahrain.
- ronfez, on 01/15/2009, -1/+6It's from 2003
- decker12, on 01/15/2009, -0/+5Auto companies aren't very well represented. No VW? No Volvo? No GM?
- timster, on 01/15/2009, -0/+4Because they have significant shares/joint venture with the associated company. See the red dotted line.
- Mothh, on 01/15/2009, -0/+4Noooo she's British. Shows how little you know!
