- anicejew, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4I wonder if they do this at McDonalds?
- markfulton, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Cooking does not involve extraordinarily much team work. My momma always told me to get my ass out of the kitchen.
They should start a dodge ball team or something. - cru99, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1I don't think cooking class is very good for team building, primarily because if the people hate each other,
it's just a waste of money.- gwinerreniwg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I did this with my team and we had a blast! So much so, they asked to do it again this year as our "team event". Unfortunately the huge upswing in popularity has tripled the price, and we can no longer afford to do it.
- TheBlackNinja, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I give it a week before google does the same, except it will look better and probably have master chefs (or just use the chefs from their cafeteria)
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1...or require all their employees to train as chefs and use their 20% to cook in the cafeteria.
- Shirk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Must be a slow day for digg if this made it to the front page.
- kurtwinter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I feel really sad for the idiots who try to compensate for a lack of a social life by trying to make everyone at work their friends. And for the poor schmucks who get downsized in the same companies that seem to run out of money for salaries, but have plenty for this *****.
You want happy people? You want a strong team? Save the field trip and hand out Amex gift cards. - DRTED, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I did it last year and my dish gave everyone food poisoning because I didn't wash my hands after I had diarrhea, though they really cant blame me because there was no toilet paper in the bathroom where the cooking thing was held.
- samoproducer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do they do trust falls over hot soup? This corporate training stuff gives me gas.
- TechLaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WWAS? What Would Alex Say? "This sounds a little 'crunchy' to me."
- marshallobrien, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0how about this approach to team building in the kitchen, http://www.c3teambuilding.com
I am curious how many companies have this type of format. We're having great success, and our clients seem to appreciate our customized approach to this type of experience.
